Jessie J on her pre-baby figure: ‘I don’t want to go back, that body is gone’

Jessie J has an adorable three-month-old son named Sky with her partner, Chanan Safir Colman. Jessie has always been pretty active on social media. Since she announced her pregnancy in January, she proudly posted a lot about it and now, she’s posting about new mom stuff. Going through her Instagram page, it seems like she really enjoyed being pregnant and all of the changes her body underwent. In a recent post to her Instagram Story, Jessie responded to people who’ve made that cringey remark that every woman dreads hearing after they have a baby: “I bet you can’t wait to get your body back.”

Jessie J is embracing her body after the birth of her son.

On Tuesday, the singer and mom to three-month-old son Sky Safir Cornish Colman responded to people commenting on her post-baby figure in a candid note shared on her Instagram Story.

“Couple of people have said to me ‘I bet you can’t wait to get your body back,’” Jessie explained in her post. “My reply is…’I don’t want to go back. That body is gone. I want my body to go forward. I’m getting my body forward.’”

“That’s the vibe ladies. Embrace that bowdddddy!” she added.

Yasss, Jessie, preach! As it was so eloquently explained in the Barbie movie, society overall has a lot of expectations for women. I’m sure for Jessie and other celebrity moms, that pressure is even worse. It sounds like Jessie really is loving her body after birth, though. Back in June, Jessie posted a picture of herself postpartum, with a caption that included, “Take your time. Be easy on yourself, your body AND your mind. Celebrate your new body. It HAD to change.”

Jessie is so right. Our bodies change after we carry babies and that’s not a bad thing. You can absolutely get “back into shape” after your baby is born, but your body will still be different, and it will still be beautiful. Like Jessie said, embrace that bowdddddy!

That’s a terrible thing to say to anyone, but especially a brand new mother! I hope that was not said by people she considered friends.

I believe she had troubles with previous pregnancies, and went through a lot of heartache, so she’s understandably thrilled that her body was able to carry to term this time!
Good for her for having such a positive and practical mindset!

That baby is beautiful. Congrats to her. People need to stop commenting on women’s bodies. This is especially true post birth.

I like this perspective. Honestly, whenever I’ve heard this strange phrase, I took it as wanting to have your body back as your own. Kind of like when you feel touched out and need to not be tethered to someone else at least not for a little while.

But great point. It’s crap to suggest you need to get it together and look like you’ve never been pregnant. As if that’s the most important thing.
