The last we heard about Common’s love live, he was with Tiffany Haddish. They split sometime in 2021 after dating for about a year, and this is Common’s relationship pattern. He’s not a long-term guy, he’s a confirmed bachelor. In recent months he’s been spotted with Jennifer Hudson. In February they were seen at Nobu in Malibu, and in May they took a walk together in a suburb of Chicago. My guess initially was whatever happened with them has already run its course. When she was asked by TMZ on the street if she was still dating him, she seemed to brush it off and deny that she’d “been on vacation” with Common lately. But then she also said that she would like to do a musical collab with him some day, and that “he’s a beautiful man.” My read on this: if they are dating, she doesn’t want to tell us.
Jennifer Hudson is sending some love Common’s way … saying he’s quite the looker and, at least, strongly hinting all the speculation about them being an item is true.
We got Jennifer leaving Il Pastaio in Bev Hills Monday, and when we let her know the 2 of them make a damn cute couple, she didn’t deny the love connection.
Here’s the thing … sources tell TMZ they’ve been together for months, but when we ask her to confirm, she’s mostly mum about their relationship — but check out the glowing compliment she gives the guy.
As we reported, Jennifer and Common first sparked dating rumors in February when they went to Nobu in Malibu together … and they were spotted hanging out here and there in the months before.
We also got pics of them taking a stroll in a Chicago suburb in May — total relationship vibes.
I think Jennifer was pretty annoyed that someone was following her around and asking questions. So she might be coming off a little brusque just because of the situation and I don’t blame her. It must be so strange for people to film you and ask you about some guy you may or may not be seeing when you’re just trying to go to lunch. That’s why at first I got the vibe that she wasn’t with him anymore. But I looked into it, and Jennifer and Common were together in London over the July 4th weekend. Jennifer went to London for the opening weekend of a play she’s producing called A Strange Loop, and in photos of her with the cast, Common’s in the back row. As far as I know, he didn’t have any official business in London, so it seems like he was coming along with her on this business trip. So that probably was the “vacation” the TMZ reporter is referencing. They make a cute couple for sure. I hope Jennifer is having fun and doesn’t get too emotionally invested though. Common is so handsome and charismatic but he’s not truly boyfriend material, I don’t think.

Common is still holding out hope Erykah Badu will come back to him. I like him with Jennifer. If she doesn’t get attached, he’ll be with her longer.
Above all, I want Jennifer (and her son) to be happy.
If that includes a relationship with Common, who is very handsome indeed but a proven commitment-phobe, so be it.
What makes me angry though is the brazen intrusiveness of TMZ. I’d probably have walked on, pretending not to hear or understand them.
