Princess Kate praised for her ‘subtle tributes’ to Diana, crickets on her Meghan cosplay

It’s sort of fascinating to watch as the Princess of Wales’s fans begrudgingly admit that they hate her Meghan-copying and they really hate all of her pantsuits. Like, you know it’s bad when even I admit that her Victorian/Edwardian cosplay is missed. CB and I talked about this in the podcast, with CB arguing that Kate’s fundamental “style” really is that prim, Victorian look. I argued that Kate was actually copying QEII back then, but CB is sort of right – that’s Kate’s fundamental style and how she feels the most comfortable, wearing those prissy, button-covered coatdresses and doily fashion. That’s her “thing.” But now that she’s got a well-maintained Meghan Lookbook, there’s no going back. So the Daily Mail’s royal fashion experts are trying to put a bow on it, while also taking a swipe at Meghan for being “sexy.” Sorry your future queen is such a dry piece of bewigleted toast.

A royal designer has praised the Princess of Wales’s ‘subtle tributes’ to her late mother-in-law. Speaking on this week’s episode of Palace Confidential, Amanda Wakeley, known for her work with both Princess Diana and Kate Middleton, gushed over how Kate gives stylistic nods to Prince William’s late mother.

‘The suit that she wore to the Trooping the Colour this summer, honestly that could have been out of Diana’s wardrobe,’ she told host Jo Elvin. The Daily Mail’s Royal Editor Rebecca English added that she doesn’t believe Kate, 41, intentionally models her look after Diana’s.

‘I don’t think they set out to be compared if those comparisons are made… it’s very flattering,’ she explained. ‘She obviously wears a lot of her jewellery so there’s always a tribute to her there in that way but I think she wears it… she wears it lightly. She doesn’t make a big point of it.’

‘She wears it as hers,’ Amanda agreed. ‘It’s not a pastiche of how Diana would’ve worn it. It’s very much she’s owning her look, which is a wonderful look.’

Rebecca also discussed the Princess of Wales’s style evolution, which she believes reached a stunning high earlier this year. ‘For me, there was a real – on a fashion level – stop in your tracks moment at the Coronation, when she got into Westminster Abbey. She just looked like a Queen in waiting to me. It was so elegant, so polished, so regal I thought “she’s got it”.’

Touching on the Duchess of Sussex’s fashion sense, both also noted Meghan Markle’s more confident style since moving to California, as Rebecca said: ‘The sexiness is creeping back into her looks. I don’t see that in a negative way. We all dress appropriate to our jobs and situation’.

[From The Daily Mail]

“The sexiness is creeping back into her looks… We all dress appropriate to our jobs and situation,” is a bitter-hag code for “Meghan is too pretty, sexy, free, stylish and she effortlessly overshadows the future queen.” Which has always been the problem, it’s been the problem (for them) since 2016. Instead of seeing a beautiful, stylish, charismatic American woman who would have been a tremendous asset, they saw how she made everyone else look dull in comparison. It was Diana all over. Speaking of, Kate consciously copies Diana all the time. Diana was one of her first lookbooks, and her Diana cosplay has always been just as creepy as her Meghan cosplay. Kate doesn’t do “subtle tributes.” She’s too stupid for subtlety, be real. These are not “tributes” either – she’s plainly copying more stylish and beautiful women as a blatant act of aggression (in Meghan’s case) or because she thinks she can be as loved, liked or respected as Diana simply by wearing a similar frock.

Yeah Rebecca English, lacking self-awareness, exposed the real reason why they criticised Meghan’s style. She made everybody else look dowdy and the Palace really tried to make Meghan dim her shine.

    • Mary Pester says:

@AMYBEE, yep, Megan showed how it could and should be done, and the poor little Palace minions (including keen) couldn’t stand it.

    • Where'sMyTiara says:

Meghan really tried to follow the palace orders, too: all that beige was a deliberate choice so as not to stand out too much.
We all knew she was DONE and about to leave them all on read when she brought out the iconic green, red, and green dresses during the Farewell You Salty B*tches Commonwealth Week before she and Harry dipped.

Also: The list of people KKKate has cosplayed is longer than this. She tried to copy Crown Princess Sofia of Sweden recently w/ the Wish.com RodentWig version of Sofia’s signature hairstyle; at the beginning, just after her marriage, she was cosplaying Crown Princess Mary of Denmark about as often as she cosplayed Diana. At one point she was even trying to copy (egregiously badly, I might add) Queen Letizia of Spain, when she was getting more fashion press than Wiglet. KKKate even cosplayed Princess Stéphanie, Hereditary Grand Duchess of Luxembourg briefly with dueling Elie Saab outfits.

I kinda love that KKKate has never attempted to cosplay Queen Max of the Netherlands – Max is a precious unicorn on whom NO color ever looks bad, how does she do that? Max owns and slays every outfit they put on her. Her fashion is so unique and vibrant, and something KKKate would never dare attempt.

      • Dee says:

Kate even stole Princess Margaret’s look with her wedding dress. All she does is copy and style badly.

    • Wannabefarmer says:

Speaking of dimming her light, I read somewhere yesterday that Meghan told Oprah she was told to be 50% less??? The choice of percentage is notable.

  2. equality says:

So the old double standard again. Kate dresses like mil or wears her jewelry and it’s a tribute. Meghan wears her jewelry and it’s an outrage. I don’t see that Meg is dressing to be “sexy”. She has been dressing appropriately to the occasion. It’s just that she actually has SA.

    • ML says:

No offense, but no matter how Meghan dresses, she is sexy. Kate simply is not. I don’t mean that as shade, it’s simply the vibe they give off. Meghan has excellent posture, exudes charm and confidence and smiles, and knows how to wear clothing so it doesn’t wear her.

      • ML says:

Whoops, Equality—I forgot to write that I agree with you! Just in case, please don’t think I’m harping on your comment. ITA with what you said.

      • jane says:

meghan wears her clothes while kate clothes wears her !!

      • Wannabefarmer says:

Exactly. I mean does Harry deliberate try to give off BDE or does he just have it?

    • AnnaKist says:

Meghan wears the clothes. The clothes wear Kate. Copying clothing will never give Kate the confidence and charm Meghan. What was that old song? ‘ You’ve either got or you haven’t got…. style.”…

      • Renae says:

        Meghan has a feminine shape.
Its difficult to make a plank have sex appeal.

      • Kkat says:

@Renae. It’s just Kate that isn’t sexy, I was just looking at Zendaya and she is very slim, much more than Kate.
But Zendaya is sexy AF and wears the clothing, it never wears her.

It’s the posture, confidence, and inate style that makes Zendaya sexy, kate just doesn’t have “IT”

  3. No Rebecca she is trying to own Diana’s and Meg’s looks and failing at it on an epic level! Can’t owns nothing but her maniacal smile and ridiculous jazz hands and a ton of shiny buttons.

    • Chrissy says:

      And don’t forget the wigs!

    • paintybox says:

I wonder if she’s going to keep making her maniacal cackling clown faces after she’s crowned queen consort???? That’ll be a good look on official stamps and plates etc, heh.

      • Let’s just see if she makes it that far. Remember Peg is out flying solo as a sexy hunk of a statesman and just who could resist that? So maybe he will have a side piece consort just like daddy.

      • paintybox says:

Susan Collins: 😂 😂 🤣 🤣 – !!! – trying to picture Peg’s side piece and Kate snatching each other’s wigs — omg. I’ll go make us some popcorn …🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿

    • Carmen says:

Yeah, what’s with that? Every recent picture I’ve seen of her, she’s cheesing like a lunatic who just escaped from an asylum.

  4. Mary Pester says:

It’s funny how they use the word “subtle” instead of copying and playing at?? Because we all know that there is nothing “subtle” about it. Keen wouldn’t know a “subtle” original look if it smacked her in the face. She has been copying Megan’s look from day one of Megan appearing on the scene in the UK, and has flagrantly copied her every day up to and including today. But more than that I was browsing some pictures of Diana in 88 and 89. Pants suits, check one shoulder gowns check, frock coats check. Maybe they should give us a run down on what underwear she wears!!, it’s getting REALLY old now, the way they try and spin her as some fashion plate when in fact, she has no ideas of her own!!? Apart from buttons and wiglets

    • Nic919 says:

That pin stripe suit is definitely something Diana wore back in the day. I suspect we would find photos of Diana with a pinstripe suit and turtleneck somewhere. There is nothing original about kate.

She copied Jecca in the dating years and then moved to Diana and sometimes the queen and now she’s copying Meghan.

      • Robert Phillips says:

Here is what I don’t get. Kate does have the body to wear clothes. Stick thin and no boobs. Why doesn’t she find some up and coming fashion designers in England and get them to design for her. I know the answer. Because Kate only wants known names on her clothes. She wouldn’t touch anything that some other celebrity hasn’t already worn. If she isn’t going to do any actual charity work that will help. Then the least she could do is support designers who aren’t as well known.

      • Libra says:

@Robert Philips; on the surface this sounds like a great idea. But look at all the times Kate has taken a designer outfit and had it changed to suit her whims until it no longer resembled the designers original look. Any up and comer would not be up and coming for long if their designs were changed to satisfy her. In fact I have read that some designers cringe when they see Kate in one of their creations.

      • Nic919 says:

She has also been known not to attend fittings which is why so much of the stuff doesn’t fit her well.

  5. Chloe says:

They only thing Meghan has worn that I would maybe label sexy was her dress at the IG closing ceremony and even that was appropriate for the occasion. These heauxs are upset that Meghan looks good and 10 years younger than her age.

Sorry to them but kate will never be her xx

    • aftershocks says:

Oh, Meg just simply exudes sex appeal, as does Haz! The black & white horizontal striped, strapless, close-fitting maxi knit Posse dress that Meg wore this summer was also sex personified, as was the close-fitting, strapless, dressy, gold quilt-patterned dress Meg wore to the Ms Awards dinner in May. 💋 Plus, the gorgeous red gown (at Intrepid Awards 11/21) with criss-crossed straps on the back, a deep bodice with a slit in the skirt, and a train, was mucho sexy! 🤩 It fit Meg’s Lili-induced baby weight curves so sublimely! 👌🏽

Not to mention Meg’s wowza short white culotte outfit (at ’22 summer polo), with a black blouse w/ white polka dots, and the over-sized black straw hat, deep red lips, bare legs and black pumps. 👀 💅🏼👄❤️‍🔥🫠 And let’s be fr! There are so many sexy GD looks Meg has rocked over the years. In addition to gorging on her sexy Suits wardrobe on Netfĺix rewind, we were treated to Meg’s sexy silver pencil skirt with shimmery sleeveless top, and to her hip-shaking dance, along with yummy PDA with Harry, in the stands at the Beyoncé concert, just before Invictus September!!! We have been well and truly fed in recent weeks with Sussex sexiness, hmmmm 😘😜🫣☺️

Ignore CopyKhate, and the grifting, code-dissing, hating tabloid Karens! Just as @Kaiser said, they are all fugly, hard-up, desperate, petty Meghan-wannabes. Let ’em drown in their poopy clowning nonsense. 🙄 💩 🤡

  6. Kittenmom says:

Sure, Jan. Subtle as a jackhammer.

  7. Noor says:

The sad story of the monarchy and the royal rota continues with the endless comparison of Kate with Diana who died about 30 years ago and Meghan who stepped back from being a working royal 3 yrs ago.

    • Tessa says:

Kate is imo inadequate in her role. It makes her look worse when compared to Diana who excelled in her role as princess of wales.

    • aftershocks says:

@Noor, H&M have been gone from that toxic gloom and doom well over 3-and-a-half years now! Soon to be 4 years on January 8, 2024! Whee! 🌬🌪☔️🌈 ✨️ 🎆 💖💪🏽✊🏽🤜🏻🤛🏽

  8. moderatelywealthy says:

It is creepy seeing side by side proof of Kate white female obsession, so obvious to the point everybody takes note.

  9. Tessa says:

I remember how weird it was when Kate dressed like jecca.

    • Nic919 says:

Kate copies woken as a form of aggression. The copying of Jecca’s style was some weird way to give William a version of the woman he really wanted but then the Diana copying and now the Meghan copying is more sinister. She’s trying to erase Meghan’s style in the Uk sphere because she knows the media will help play the game.

      • Debbie says:

I know that people here have said that Kate is trying to “erase” Meghan in some way by dressing like her at times. I actually don’t think that’s her aim. I think that her aim is more basic than that. I believe that, as a woman, she likes the way Meghan looks in her frocks and thought “why didn’t I think of that” and just set about trying to copy and recreate the looks… Okay, as I was typing, it just occurred to me that when normal women dress like their favorite stars, they don’t usually wear every piece like a paint-by-numbers set, there’s usually some variation there. What Kate does is just shameless, but I do agree that she knows that the BM will cover for her and pretend to ignore the obvious straight-up copies from Kate.

Try as Kate might, I just don’t think that she could ever “erase” Meghan, style-wise or otherwise. But, just to be safe, I’d stay out of Parisian tunnels, if I were Meghan. Just sayin’.

  10. s808 says:

I’ve kinda come to the conclusion that Kate is doing what she always does. She’s a blank slate, an empty vessel waiting to be told what to do, who to be and always been. Through her clothes, she slips on the skin of whoever she needs to, whether it be the queen, diana and as of late, meghan. It’s particularly insidious for her to try and morph into Meghan and we all know why but it’s par the course. The establishment got a taste of what an actual modern royal looks and acts like. Through subtle jabs here and there, they (the press and probably W behind clothes doors) have telegraphed who she needs to be and in a desperate attempt to hold on, she’s shedding her old skin and slipping into this. I remember her being called a mannequin or something like that a while ago and they were very right. It IS annoying but it’s also pathetic imo. It’d probably take less work to just be her own person than to shed her skin and be someone else every few months/years.

    • Nic919 says:

She’s was copying Jecca’s style pre engagement so yes she’s always done this. It just wasn’t commented on because most people didn’t know Jecca.

Plus it’s been over a decade and she’s still “doing nods” to Diana which is just weird. Diana has been gone since 1997 and kate is now older than diana ever was. It just shows a weird lack of character and her efforts to copy Meghan despite driving her out of the family now shows a more sinister element that wasn’t there with the others.

      • s808 says:

Character, sense of self or self esteem doesn’t seem like something she’s ever had in spades. I didn’t know she copied Jecca but I absolutely believe it. Isn’t Jecca like the 1 woman W seemed really hung up on? Not at all surprised Kate tried to be slip into her skin too.

      • Nic919 says:

When Hillary Mantel said in the early years that kate was like a mannequin putting on different outfits, there was an outcry and defence of kate. But it was accurate and continues to be true today.

Even her own cousin said Kate has no interest in things beyond herself. Which has also proven true over the years too.

      • Mcmmom says:

I am probably in the minority here, but I think Kate is too vapid to be copycatting out of malice. I think she has as much depth as a puddle and she copies other women’s style because she has zero sense of style on her own. If she were smart, she would hire a good stylist and outsource it all to her/him.

Meghan is, of course, sexy in that she is confident and (almost always) wears clothing that suits her. If you enjoy clothing and know what looks good on you, it’s going to come off as sexy. That’s not sexual necessary – it’s just an attractive feature of anyone, male or female.

      • Nic919 says:

When it comes to Meghan, kate knows exactly what she is doing. She made it a point to cut her at the commonwealth service in public and she was very threatening toward Meghan during the funeral walkabout. Kate may not be academically bright, but she has been competing with other women for years. This is the only thing she knows to do.

And to permit a lie about your sister in law to be used by the media in a smear campaign has to be one of the most malicious things you can do. She corrected the Tatler story about things she didn’t like but did not say a thing about the crying story being false.

Let’s stop pretending that kate is naive and innocent. She isn’t especially toward Meghan.

      • windyriver says:

I agree there’s aggression in Kate’s copying of Meghan, but I wouldn’t minimize Kate’s basic need to attract attention, which is always at play. That sheer outfit at the college fashion show; her bare butt with the skirt fly-ups; posing at the TdeF; “theme” dressing; big silver brooch at TQ’s funeral and the stunt at Philip’s; and how her eyes always find the camera whenever the press is present. That coat with the big red/white houndstooth check at the (rugby? soccer?) game, a “nod” to Diana, but also meant she was visible wherever she was.

Kate needs to be noticed, by whatever means – but I agree where Meghan’s concerned there’s an additional, and increasingly nasty, element. Reminds me of Camilla’s classic b***h moving trying to copy Diana’s “revenge” dress. As if. Same is true for Kate. The press may help by playing along, and Kate keeps trying, but she has to sense 1) Meghan is still a few steps ahead of her; and 2) Meghan doesn’t care.

@Mcmmom – Kate’s only vapid about things outside her immediate, self centered world, that’s why she’s so useless at the job she’s supposed to be doing. Appearing in new outfits is one of her main hobbies, and as Nic919 mentions above, competing with other women, or trying to, is one of her few skills.

      • Mcmmom says:

Nic919 – I don’t think Kate is naive or innocent. I think she’s completely without deep thought. I think some of the motivations ascribed to her would require more intelligence than she appears to have. Maybe she is savvy, but it seems that if she was, she would be better at it.

    • Debbie says:

Perhaps some people in the castle suggested to Kate — after the Hubb Together cookbook, the capsule for unemployed women or some other successful events — that she try to “be more like Meghan”, and Kate being Kate took the easiest, most superficial approach to that advice and started to copy the outer Meghan, completely ignoring the work commitment.

  11. Brassy Rebel says:

That rictus grin! Make it stop. 🫣🤦

  12. Eurydice says:

I have to laugh at Rebecca saying Kate looked regal in her Coronation outfit. Well, yeah – she was wearing a tinsel tiara and a ceremonial cape festooned with ceremonial crap. Everyone who wore that stuff looked “regal.”

    • Kittenmom says:

She looked the queens from a deck of cards! Or the Snow White evil queen. Very costume-y. Like a child playing dress up would do a queen.

    • Nic919 says:

She looked like a cartoon evil queen which I suppose is regal in a way. But the party pieces tiara wore her and the festoons on the cape overwhelmed her too. She didn’t pull off regal in a serious way but they will never admit it. None of that family pulled it off that day.

    • Libra says:

Regal? It screams Gilbert and Sullivan comic operettas. Grown ups costume dressing and play acting. All those ceremonial uniforms, medals and robes are meaningless to the rest of the world who look on with humor..

      • Eurydice says:

Yeah, that’s my point. The coronation wasn’t about fashion choices, it was about dragging out from the mothballs all the costumes one is supposed to wear at a ceremony like this. The only thing Kate added was the tinsel tiara, and only because they wouldn’t let her wear a real tiara. All it did was turn her into the Evil queen from Snow White – Mirror, mirror on the wall, who’s the fairest of them all…

    • Jais says:

Very It’s a Royal Knockout vibes. Edward would approve.

    • Lara (the other) says:

Ihe look would have worked perfectly as evil queen at a role playing convention.
But at the end, the RF is nothing more than very expensive role playing with the taxpayers money.

    • Kat says:

Regal ? I need a sick bucket Rebecca

    • Agreatreckoning says:

“regal”. LOLZ. Is Becky English mocking Kate? Is ‘regal’ looking like an angry cosplayer>

Queen Sara from Mr. Roger’s neighborhood wore the tiara and capes better. Queen Sara also didn’t have wayward brows and photoshopping with her jowls. Queen Sara could easily replace Kate-with better speaking abilities.

  13. Miranda says:

I’m actually not so sure that Kate’s Meghan cosplay is necessarily an act of aggression. I think it probably has more to do with the fact that she’s incapable of forming an original thought, and every aspect of her personality is contrived (and in the most lazy, half-assed way, at that).

    • Jais says:

Agree that she doesn’t show original thoughts in her fashion but I do think it’s an act of aggression. Benefitting from a racist trope that she leaked against Meghan and then copying her style. It’s inherently aggressive. And I do think she’s conscious of what’s she’s doing. She may not see it as racist or aggressive and think she’s just one-upping Meghan, but it is.

      • Nic919 says:

Kate is racist. She might think she’s not because she doesn’t use the N word, but so many of her other actions confirms she’s racist.

      • Jais says:

Oh Kate would likely say she’s very much not a racist princess. Whether others would agree is a different matter.

      • Miranda says:

@Jais – I guess my thinking was that Kate is too stupid to be that subtle about her racism, lol. 🤣 But seriously, I do see your point now that you put it in perspective. I do try to be mindful about microaggressions and things like that, but obviously I miss sometimes, so I appreciate the explanation.

      • Unblinkered says:

She cosplays other women hoping that somewhere someone will remark that she, KM, looks better in the outfit. That’s how great her conceit is.
But she doesn’t look better, she looks worse. Always.

      • Jais says:

@miranda, totally Kate comes across as unintelligent so I get it. But she’s a capable person. With a high intelligence in competition

    • Nic919 says:

I don’t think copying Meghan can be considered anything but aggression since kate worked so hard to force Meghan to leave. She has the media praise her for doing the same things Meghan got criticized for and she knows this.

If kate had been a decent sister in law then taking some style tips would be fine, but Kate disliked Meghan from day one and she was instrumental in a smear campaign which caused her sister in law to be suicidal. And even knowing this, which after the Oprah interview she couldn’t pretend to not know, kate continues to blatantly copy Meghan.

It is sinister behaviour at this point.

      • Mslove says:

When Keen kopies her SIL, it means she is thinking about her always. A creepy obsession. It’s sinister & unsettling.

      • Miranda says:

@Nic919 – As I said to Jais above, I do appreciate you guys setting me straight on this and explaining how it’s inherently racist and devious. Whether or not Kate intended from the start that the copying would be part of her campaign to torment Meghan, is ultimately irrelevant, given them extreme harm that she caused.

  14. aquarius64 says:

RE and the rest of the rota does Kate no favors for these types of stories. The photographic evidence is out there: Kate copies Diana’s and Meghan’s looks. She has no style of her own meaning she has no identity of her own. The RRs only succeed in highlighting that Kate is an intellectual lightweight with a milqetoast persona. The only thing she brought to the Crown is a fertile womb that produced a future king and two spares. Even she and William are failing to prepare their eldest George for the throne as opposed to other monarchies with the or crown heirs. She barely shows she’s ready for the job of queen consort when the time comes. So all the rota has is these fashion pieces to use to prop Kate up.

  15. Paddingtonjr says:

Kate’s copykeening just reminds me that Diana and Meghan enough without the BRF. Kate will never be enough with BRF, no matter how many tinfoil tiaras she wears. And as for wearing Diana’s jewelry “lightly”? Kate shoves that gaudy Big Blue in people’s faces every chance she gets. She didn’t even change the setting from 80s extravagant to a more modern style, because then who would know SHE got Diana’s ring?

    • kelleybelle says:

Ha, that giant “tree” brooch she wore at Liz’s procession was nearly as big as her face and gaudy as hell. So was wearing the big diamond necklace to her funeral. Inappropriate (it’s evening jewelry), huge, in your face and totally wrong for the dress’s neckline. It wore HER. The RRs are so full of it that it borders on comedy.

      • kirk says:

kelleybelle – oh wow thanks for the reminder of that OTT tree branch brooch worn at the funeral without end, wherein kitty is praised by britmedia for raiding her husband’s grandmother’s jewlery box.

  16. Jais says:

I was thinking again about how Kate thought Meghan was trying to steal her fashion contacts. Which was absurd but I was trying to think what could have set her off. Then, I thought of that Alexander McQueen suit that Meghan wore to the endeavor awards. Maybe Kate thought McQueen was her brand. Like William thought Africa was his thing. No doubt, Meghan saw it as a royal-approved brand that was okay to wear. Did she ever wear McQueen again? She looked so modern and fresh. It was such a moment.

  17. kelleybelle says:

Sorry, but “Princess Kate” does the same thing for me as “Queen Camilla,” as in literally turns my stomach. Kate is nowhere near what a princess should be and Camilla isn’t fit to take a to a dog fight, with their awful backgrounds and how they’ve treated people. I actually don’t think anyone really even likes Kate, they just tolerate her when they have to. More and more the sight of Kate irks me, especially when she copies Meghan’s hair, shoes and outfits. If Jecca or any of the other aristos had said yes to Will, we wouldn’t even know who Kate was. She only “got the job” because no one else wanted it and he was being pressured about the optics of dating Kate for ten years. Now all we get is copied outfits, rictus grins, lame-assed “speeches,” manic laughter, jazz hands, and Big Blue being waved around. Ugh.

    • Cassie says:

I agree Kelly , I find it all completely repulsive . The whole family is .
Harry was and is the only decent one out of that disgusting family .
I think he would be at peace with his decision to leave and make his own family .
I will always support he and his family now .

    • Iolanthe says:

Kellybelle, you said it . It’s excruciating to watch this woman ..like a boil coming to a head and when it busts open , as it inevitably will, it’s not going to be pretty .

  18. @BelizeEmpower says:

Meghan is just sexy, plain & simple; it’s in her walk; it’s in her personality; it is part of her allure and we saw it clearly displayed on SUITS.

    • kelleybelle says:

It was even in her contract for her to wear her hair down, because it’s so beautiful.

  19. Nanea says:

If only Kate were Keen on copying Diana’s and/or Meghan’s work ethics.

Or at least work at finally being able – after 20+ years of stalking, chasing the ring, receiving princess training, and trying to find her voice – to give a speech that isn’t something mumbled, incoherent, and devoid of any contents.

Or copy their posture. Or pretend that she cares about the places she visits or the people she meets in a way that, even if it isn’t sincere, shows people they are seen and heard. Stop the guffawing, the jazz hands, the beyond dumb questions.

If she managed to do any of that, I’m sure people would be willing to overlook the blatant copying.

Not everyone can be a style icon, not even if she has millions at her disposal.

Some people have *it* – charisma – some people don’t.

    • Nic919 says:

Kate was the only woman for her generation for almost 20 years and so she benefited from the rest of the women being much older and not as modern. She never had to do anything to get attention from the rota except exist. That all changed once Meghan entered the picture and for once kate had to work at getting attention and she was jealous.

The copying is just one of the many aggressions kate has performed against Meghan

  20. Olivia says:

It really makes me think… during the Oprah interview, Meghan revealed Kate made her cry, but also immediately defended Kate, saying that she is a good person…

Perhaps Meghan knows that Kate is a victim of domestic violence and trapped in the institution, much like Diana was. So it makes me wonder if Kate dressing like Meghan and Diana is a sign of solidarity, a cry for help, and a subversive act? Like, one of the few things she can control and communicate non-verbally?

I don’t know… the more we learn about William, the more we realise he’s a monster, and how miserable Kate’s life must be. He’ll never let her leave.

    • Jais says:

Nah. It is not a sign of solidarity with Meghan.

      • Laura D says:

ITA @Jais – No matter how awful William might towards Kate, there’s absolutely no way she would show any sign of solidarity with Meghan. Kate had plenty of opportunties to help Meghan but, chose to go along with all the lies and misinformation. Kate (the woman who loves babies) made a point of publicly ignoring Meghan and Archie (polo match photos) and as far as I know she still hasn’t met Lili. Kate has shown a lot of things to Meghan but, solidarity isn’t one of them.

    • Libra says:

Kate’s not miserable. It’s her mission in life to make other people miserable.

    • ShazBot says:

I think 2 things can be true. William is probably awful to live with and may or may not be abusive in one or a few different ways. That is likely unpleasant for Kate, and based on Harry’s and Meghan’s stories of life inside the firm, her life probably sucks anyways.
BUT Kate also wants it this life because of the fame and status. She leans into it and does what she needs to do, and that includes playing the game. Regardless of who Harry married, Kate was getting someone below her in the pecking order and would have taken it out on anyone. The fact that it was Meghan, who on paper has so much “wrong” (actress, American, divorced), plus she is biracial PLUS she was likely Williams tv crush, means Kate’s game went up like 5 levels.
Her life sucks but she’s also a terrible person, so 🤷🏻‍♀️

    • Vanessa says:

Seriously enough of Kate is a victim she not a victim this a woman who knew her pregnant sister in law was suicidal and Kate still continue to help the British tabloids bully and harass Meghan. Kate made Meghan cry yet Kate and her mother leaked that it kate who cry using racist tropes against Meghan painting Meghan as the angry black woman who bullied poor fragile white Kate . Kate never corrected that lie Kate was physical aggression towards Meghan at the walk about . Leaked that it the hardest thing she ever had to do walk along side her black sister in law . Kate as shown she not a victim she a bully she racist and a mean girl .

      • Debbie says:

Thank you for that @Vanessa, I just could not digest another attempt to whitewash Kate, if you’ll pardon the pun, in this context. Nope.

    • Unblinkered says:

Ive always thought that Meghan’s, very kind, comment that KM is a good person was more to do with her knowledge of KM’s fragility. Meghan didn’t want to provoke some disproportionate response from KM at being globally outed as a mean girl: KM had caused M to cry by wickedly interfering, as KM did, in another woman’s wedding.

    • Tessa says:

Kate actually took threatening steps towards Meghan in front of cameras
Kate is no innocent and I give her no free passes

    • Beverley says:

There is no way KKKhate feels any compassion or solidarity with Meghan. She sees people of color as beneath her. Most people know racism is wrong, but for some, it’s the absolute truth and a natural way of life. KKKhate is one of those who feels that no matter who they are or what they’ve accomplished, Black people are inferior.

She copies Meghan to erase her. She knows the pale, stale Karens in the UK will play along. Before you know it, people will be accusing Meghan of copying KKKhate.
      As if.

      • ChattyCath says:

Beverley, the vile Twitter bots reinstated by Elon have already accused Meghan of copying Kate. But they also have ‘proof’ that Meghan never gave birth . They go on and on, becoming more absurd as they go. Sad little people

  21. AlexS says:

The constant comparisions between Diana and Kate feels like some dark gross attempt to groom Kate into what the Crown wanted Diana to be. An pretty non-threating window dressing without that pesky personality or demand to be treated with diginity.

  22. Ohwell says:

20 years as part of this exalted institution and all anyone can discuss is your fashion. No interview, charity, cause, speech, nothing of serious note just fashion.

Letizia, Maxima, Mary etc, even Sophie all have a seriousness too them as well as fashion but Kate is just an empty, silent loser. She is so pathetic and inadequate just like her husband.

  23. Vanessa says:

Meghan is everything that the British tabloids desperately wants Kate to be Meghan is stylish Gorgeous personable people love her her clothes sell out . Meghan also has the better brother but because Meghan is a black woman they have to put her down these white woman cants handle the fact that a black woman is better than Kate . Kate has no personality no charisma she not a stand out beauty She not very bright the only thing kate does well is being a racist and bully .

    • AC says:

This article just feeds more into Kate’s Insecurities. Even people who are neutral have always thought Meghan is beautiful and sexy. People who has watched Suits, before Meghan married Harry, have always thought she’s gorgeous. And Kate has always just been Plain.

  24. Lizzie says:

How in the world has Kate not established her own look or style in the years she has had the money and access to top designers and stylist’s? Is her wardrobe put together by committee? As I’ve said recently, I think the switch to suits is a reflection of a limited wardrobe budget. Charles was generous and she seemingly had no limit. Will has never been known as generous, and along with an unofficial separation, Kate will likely only purchase bespoke coat dresses a few times per year. As she has been benched from foreign tours she really doesn’t need more than suits.

    • Madi says:

I think it could be a budget issue too. Like they gave her a trial run to see if uber-expensive clothes got a big return. They didn’t so her budget is scaled back. Maybe that’s why she isn’t going to Singapore. William is tired of her sucking up his oxygen AND he doesn’t want to pay for her. The middleton-goldsmith might be tired as well.

  25. L4Frimaire says:

Interesting how she mainly focuses on two very formal and ceremonial looks, one of which was covered by a cloak most of the day. They become incredibly mute when it’s comes to the most obvious observation that Kate started with the suits after Meghan showed up and got global attention and massive crowds for her engagements. Remember the purple pussy blouse and long black trousers dupliKate showed up in? When you call it out people like this one or Tom and Lorenzo ( who blocked me for pointing out the obvious) feign ignorance. The thing is Meghan doesn’t wear those type of matchy suits anymore, never really did. Lately DupliKate is floundering with her obsession with the latest Meghan, such as her blank 50 shades of grey look last week.

  26. one of the marys says:

Jesus Christ I wish she’d shut her mouth I’m not usually catty but god damn

    • QuiteContrary says:

Kate is inherently tacky and not because of her class status, but because she’s just tacky. Her favorite drink is a crack baby FFS.

Meghan is inherently elegant and stylish because she’s so warm and intelligent, and she just wears what she wears with confidence.

Kate can copykeen Meghan all she wants but she’ll never replicate Meghan’s classiness.

  27. Delphine says:

If I were Kate I would hire a stylist. I would have suits and clothes custom made so they fit properly and flattered. And I would lose the wigs and get a bobbed haircut to either shoulders or chin.

  28. roooth says:

Not including Meghan, how many of the people Kkkate cosplays are from between 20 & 50 years in the past? Diana’s fashions are from the 80’s & 90’s, 40 years ago. Margeret’s is older, Liz’s fashions from when she was Kate’s age was from the 1950’s & 60’s. Kate is most comfortable dressing in fashions from decades ago

  29. Satish More says:

I have absolutely no doubt that Kate is 100% attempting to evoke Diana by copying Diana’s iconic fashion & jewelry. It’s as if Kate thinks that will make the public simply transfer their love for Diana to her.

The thing is, and maybe it’s just me, but even if Kate copies Diana’s most memorable outfits, she NEVER reminds me of Diana. Even when she wore the emerald choker that Diana wore in Australia, it’s not like I saw it and thought “Diana! Kate is Diana!” It NEVER makes me feel more warmly towards Kate.

Not to mention, quite a few of the people who are aware if Kate, probably don’t even remember Diana’s outfits, or are even interested in Diana’s outfits. It seems the majority of the people who do give Kate unearned accolades for copying Diana, are ALREADY royalists. They’re going to like what she wears no matter what.

  30. AC says:

This article just feeds more into Kate’s insecurities.

  31. Debbie says:

I know that these, well, let’s call them “women” are trying to be catty but what does it say about Kate that they think “we all dress according to our jobs and situation” but all they can ever think to say about Kate is how she dresses?

  32. J.Ferber says:

Kate must be really baffled that everyone else around her cares so much how she dresses and her own husband complains that she pulls focus from him with her fashion.

  33. Lisa R says:

The reason Kate looks better in dresses is because designers make the entire outfit for her including shoes and stockings, and even the hat. These pantsuits are thrown together by Kate with a random shirt and shoes that Kate selects.
Has William cancelled her designer dress budget?
Also, I thought Kate had blue eyes. Her eyes appear to be hazel now. Was she wearing colored contacts?
Ma Middleton has been stage-mothering Kate for Kate’s entire life. Kate has never had the option to think for herself. Has Ma been benched?

  34. Lala11_7 says:

If Kate TRULY WANTS to cosplay something that BOTH Princess Diana did & Meghan DOES that will TRULY HELP HER…is to start either doing dancing as Princess Diana did or Yoga which Meghan does…I TRULY believe AND PERSONALLY KNOW that those two CONSTANT disciplines give you the platform & confidence to wear clothes to the nth degree and to EXUDE that “It” factor regarding self…and it helps psychologically…but OF COURSE that means that Kate would need to do background WORK regarding herself and LIFE has shown us that’s not how Kate rolls☹️
