Chris Evans wore his wedding ring to NY Comic Con, calls his wedding ‘really great’

Here are some photos of Chris Evans at the New York Comic Con on Saturday. Which begs the question: why the hell is Chris Evans doing appearances at any Comic Con during the SAG-AFTRA strike? The people who attended his discussion say that Chris avoided all talk of his previous or upcoming projects, and instead talked about his life, his dog, and his marriage. So that’s probably how he got around strike rules – it’s not specifically promotional for any work which does not have a waiver. As for the topics he could discuss, the man wore his wedding ring and his fans are basically in a full meltdown. You see, some of them believed that his wedding was an elaborate hoax or that Alba Baptista “trapped” him and he’s unhappy. That man was glowing and wearing his ring proudly.

Chris Evans is in marital bliss. The “Captain America” star, 42, confirmed on Saturday during an appearance at New York Comic Con that he’s officially off the market after getting married to Portuguese actress Alba Baptista.

“I got married,” Evans told Marvel fans, who responded with mass applause. “It was really, really great.”

The actor revealed he and Baptista, 26, had two ceremonies, with one taking place in Portugal and another on the East Coast. “They were wonderful and beautiful,” he said.

Evans admitted to the crowd at NYCC that planning two weddings was “a lot,” but since the wedding, he and the “Warrior Nun” actress have been “relaxing and enjoying life and reflecting” as a newlywed couple.

His light was on and his biological clock was ticking, and I bet you anything that Chris will become a father within the next year. And good for him! He knew what he wanted, he fell in love, he got married and they seemingly plan to live a quiet life in Portugal and Boston. I hope they’re very happy.

Yup. He was ready and he not only does he want to be a father but an active father. He really was glowing and I am happy for him and hope that she is just as happy.

Both of my boos (Tom Hiddleston and Chris) are off the market and I am happy for them. I guess…JK

Speaking of which, recent photos have sparked rumors that a second Hiddlesbaby may be on the way.

I think Alba’s already pregnant. She hasn’t been seen anywhere recently and I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s because she’s showing already. I think she’s cute and while the TV show Warrior Nun was very ridiculous, she was good in it and in the Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris movie. I think they’re an odd pairing and I don’t think they’re going to last forever but Chris seems happy for now which is nice to see. They’ll have a few kids before the age gap becomes an issue. Hopefully she doesn’t have the realization “I actually want to live in Portugal and miss my family” further down the road like Sophie Turner. Chris Evans is never leaving Massachusetts, especially not at this stage in his life.

      Wow…you sound like a deranger..

      • girl_ninja says:

Right?!?! Like crazy deranged! No diss, but Portugal isn’t England. Portugal is a gorgeous country on the water, where the cost of living is way better than stateside. They will be fine and probably very happy.

      • VilleRose says:

Not sure what about my comments make me a deranger. I like Alba and said so (Warrior Nun was a ridiculous mess but not an insult to her). If anything, I side eye Chris in all of this. She was about 24 when they got together to Chris’s 40ish. Huge power imbalance there and it makes Chris look sketchy. Tell me how that makes me a deranger. 🙄

And where did I insult England or Portugal? To me the situation is similar to Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner, Joe being the older American (aka Chris) and Sophie the younger non American (aka Alba). When you have kids and you’re from different countries, the custody issues can become a mess as we are seeing in their divorce. You misinterpreted what I said completely.

Alba can speak 5 languages, her career is just beginning, she’s way more cultured than him and she wants to… live in suburban Massachusetts with Chris?! I do not stan Chris at all. But nice try for trying to make me sound “deranged.”

I don’t understand why this poster is called a deranger when she made some good points. Besides the fact that most Hollywood marriages do not last, he’s a 42-year-old man who married a 25-year-old. The power dynamic is unbalanced and most likely can cause issues for them further down the line. Either way, as long as he’s happy that’s all that matters.

      • Moi says:

Her points were trash. She clearly stans Chris and doesn’t wish them well… “ as long as he is happy” is code for I don’t wish them well… geez.. go out and touch grass. The man loves her and is happy.

      • MadamNoir says:

@Moi How is “as long as he’s happy” code for I don’t wish him well? Your opinion is her point is trash MY opinion is her point is not trash, EVERYONE has a right to their opinion. You are making all these assumptions about me based on a comment on a blog that you yourself are commenting on. Maybe you should follow your own advice and go out touch trash and stop getting upset because like you I have an opinion.

Let me preface this by saying that we are an amazing fit and very in love after almost 19 years of marriage, but my husband’s light was on. He was at a point where he wanted to make a home and a family. We dated for a year, he asked me to marry him, and we got married a little less than a year later. Best decision I ever made.

I think if we had been a less-great fit, he would have moved on quickly, because he wanted to settle down and have a “person”. I was also at a point where I wanted to be with someone who was a whole person on their own, who enhanced my life and brought a lot to the table. That he was cute, smart, funny, and kind were big bonuses, too.

Had we met a few years earlier, I’m sure we would have liked each other, but the timing wouldn’t have been right for a long-term commitment. I wish Chris and Alba the very best of luck and a lifetime of happiness. I am a big believer in “when you know, you know.”

I was just at comic con! Lots of actors there not just Chris. All of them obeyed strike rules. Chris, and others, didn’t even allow props in the photo ops. Usually there are tons of photos of him with the shield. But it was considered a promotion of past work under strike guidelines.

David tennant, ewan macgregor and several members of the Guardians of the Galaxy cast (Karen Gillan, Michael Rooker, Sean Gunn, chukwudi Iwuji, Pom Klementieff) all did panels and all avoided talks of past or upcoming roles. Ewan discussed stage roles and tea. David discussed Staged with Michael sheen as that was an all Brit production under the British actors union. Etc.

Some people complained but most seemed to enjoy it more. We hear about their movies all the time in tons of press junkets. This was more personal and unique.
