Prince William will fly commercial to Singapore for Earthshot, as will everyone else

Prince William has not been seen since October 14th, when he flew (privately) to France to attend a match at the Rugby World Cup. The Wales kids are out of school right now, it’s their “half-term break” or something, and per usual, that means William and Kate both feel that they get a complete holiday where they don’t have to work whatsoever. This is why the British media has been churning out repackaged old stories for the past two weeks – the media is bored and itching for drama. So, it’s kind of hilarious that William is god knows where with god knows who, but his Kensington Palace office staff did a big media briefing this week.

The agenda of the briefing: confirming a lot of boring Earthshot details. KP confirmed that William will travel to Singapore next month, with Kate staying home. The palace actually made no mention of Kate whatsoever, which is notable. They also confirmed that William will attend the United for Wildlife summit, which sounds fancy until you realize that United for Wildlife is some busywork thing started by William, and the summit was likely haphazardly organized by his staff. The Telegraph must have gotten a special exclusive briefing, because they’re the only outlet making a BFD about how William will – gasp – fly commercially to Singapore.

Prince William will “never tell people not to get on planes” for the environment, a Kensington Palace spokesman said ahead of his trip to Singapore for the Earthshot Prize awards. The comments came after it was revealed that the Prince of Wales, 41, will be flying commercially to Southeast Asia next month for the third annual prize presentation.

Speaking ahead of the November awards ceremony in Singapore, the spokesman said: “The Eartshot Prize is about finding innovative solutions that are going to help scale and change the future direction of planet, and what he or the Earthshot Prize will never do, is tell people not to get on planes and not to get in their cars. We’re not looking back to the Ice Age, we’re looking forward to the Green Age. It’s really important that instead of focusing on prevention, we can actually focus on the opportunity.”

It comes after it was revealed that his brother, Prince Harry, went to the island of Canouan in the Grenadines using a private jet with the Duchess of Sussex days after they both spoke at an event that highlighted the impact of climate change on mental health. The couple flew privately from New Jersey to the island after attending the World Mental Health Day Festival in New York on Oct 10, where the impact of climate change on young people was discussed.

However, it was confirmed that Prince William would be taking the more than 13-hour flight to Singapore in less than two weeks commercially, as will the rest of the event’s “talent”.

“The team worked very hard to make sure that everyone that travels to Earthshot is flying commercially,” a Kensington Palace spokesman said, adding that they will “make sure that we are offsetting travel in the ways that we always do”.

Hannah Jones, the chief executive of Earthshot, said: “Like any environmental organisation, we think about ‘reduce’, and then we think about offset when it comes to carbon.” She added: “At the awards every year, we do a lot of work to make sure that they are as sustainable as possible.”

As examples, she cited plans to plant trees while there as well as plans to reuse the plants used at the ceremony by re-planting them elsewhere in Singapore.

“There’s no detail we haven’t gone into to make our impact as reduced as possible as well as offset,” Jones added.

[From The Telegraph]

LOL William is making his staff brief the media that he will fly commercially to Singapore right after Harry and Meghan took a private plane. I guess the Telegraph didn’t ask how William and Kate traveled separately to France for the Rugby World Cup. I guess the Telegraph didn’t ask about all of Will and Kate’s helicopter flights around the UK? And of course, no one asked where the hell Will and Kate are right now and whether they flew on a private plane or helicopter. But Harry! But Harry visited the Caribbean! Also: William’s staff doing a special briefing about his commercial flight to Singapore just brings up one of his stupid excuses for not traveling to Australia for the Women’s World Cup in August – he truly said he couldn’t do his job because of the environmental concerns, remember? But he’ll fly to Singapore for his Earthshot busywork.

Wonder if this BS is even true or if it will be like the Flybe stunt. They ignore when PW flies private and make a big deal on the few times he flies commercial. This is more likely one of the times that flying private wouldn’t be a big deal if he has a big team going with him to fill up a plane.

  2. seaflower says:

Speaking on behalf of Australia, we are glad he didn’t come.

Speaking on behalf of womens football and the Lionesses, you bloody hypocritical bludger Willie.

  3. Maxine Branch says:

As usual, only the British press will be interested in this nonsense prize. Because many know this is all nonsense. The pot shot at Harry is not effective anymore because many both public and private knows how he normally travels. This man is just a complete waste of human flesh. A Mr Nobody with a crown.

    • Campbell says:

Imagine him as king. That petulant face looking annoyed at the wife with the exaggerated smiles and jazz hands. Rarely going anywhere because what are they going to do about it? For decades, the thought was he as king would save the monarchy. As it gets closer, it appears the opposite is more likely.

  4. Big deal. Get rid of your private helicopter and the private flying you do. Taking a commercial flight once in a while doesn’t count. No one is impressed Peg.

    • Chloe says:

Flying commercial to Singapore and probably flying private back to the UK.

    • kirk says:

Same dude who flew QEII Land Rover over to Jamaica so he and Kitty could stand up in it to review the troops? Same dude who traveled to NYC to promote his “environmental” road show in Singapore? Same dude who burns fuel to keep four homes in UK?

  5. Ash says:

The Sussexes didn’t talk about climate change affecting mental health during their mental health panel. This is the second time a publication has printed this blatant lie as though the video of the panel isn’t available on YouTube. William is seriously pathetic.

    • Jais says:

Yeah, what is going on with this? The talk was about social media and not climate change. Jeremy Vine deliberately twisted this and now the Telegraph is too. It’s 100% deliberate. They’re trying to make the Sussexes out to be climate hypocrites as we get closer to earth shot. And they’re minimizing the actual discussion of online bullying, which is what they’re actually doing to the Sussexes. The BM is sneakily helping William.

    • Swaz says:

If they don’t mention Harry NOBODY CARES 😂😂🤣 HARRY IS THE STAR 🌟

    • Chantal says:

@Ash and @Jais I’ve noticed this new propaganda lie about the Sussexes too. But of course actual bullies will ignore serious discussions about online bullying. And I don’t buy for a second that Willy Nilly is flying commercial – unless he rents the entire commercial jet – which would make it private! And he’s proven that he’s jealously capable and stupid enough to do just that.

      • roooth says:

I wouldn’t be surprised if he rented the whole plane for just him and his mistress. But that’s because I suspect #WillyWanker is leaving Kkkate at home so he can sneak his GF there and have a romantic vacay.

If I were a pap photographer, I’d be in Singapore and on Willy like white on rice

    • Sunday says:

Thank you. I mean, the bar was already in hell for Will and his KP minion a-holes, but to purposely lie about an event that dealt with teen sui*ide and grieving parents just so he can feel superior over his brother is truly evil.

  6. Cj says:

lol I hope he keeps subjecting himself to commercial flights to try and one up his brother. He’s probably incandescent that he has to travel like a pleb (albeit one in first class for sure) and I love that for him. And I hope every flight is 10+ hours.

  7. Cassie says:

It’s pathetic that they always have to make it a competition between William and Harry .
It’s just like comparing kids in a playground , so childish .
They can’t write an article about William without bringing up Harry .
Pretty sure Harry wouldn’t give a rats what William is doing .

  8. Amy Bee says:

Wiliam’s PR is all over the place. My guess is like NY not many of the Royal reporters will be going to Singapore because they’ll be following Charles to Kenya and then will stay in the UK for the South Korean state visit.

    • Tessa says:

William had that needless trip to nyc which seemed to be his pursuit of photo ops

      • roooth says:

I had a good laugh over the bullshit about Willy going for a jog in Central Park. The one photo they released of him jogging is a total fake. They cut & pasted from an old pic of Willy running behind Harry, and pasted Willy running along the Hudson River with a bridge in the background. No where near Central Park.

They don’t even try to make their BS believable

    • equality says:

Well, Charles will fly privately and probably give them a lift. You want them to fly with the common folk when PW flies commercial?

  9. Becks1 says:

How many private planes have Will and Kate taken over the past 6 months alone? France (for four flights total, when they could have flown together) and wherever they went on their vacation over the summer – I’m sure they flew private. And then lets factor in all the helicopter rides.

So yeah, miss me with the “he’s flying commercial to Singapore, he’s so much better than Harry!” harry flew commercial to Singapore too you dolts.

  10. Harper says:

I wonder if Burger King is going to jog in Singapore? This time he will be sure to let the rota know ahead of time. If he doesn’t, we’ll know that was a NYC specific fake-out. And it looks like his Invictus-copying week of EarthShot stuff is now down to four days. We knew Willie didn’t have it in him to both fly commercial and work for a full week like Harry does.

    • roooth says:

I loved the pic of Willy jogging in Central Park. I just didn’t know the Hudson River is in Central Park now. It must be cuz the idiots put their cut & paste pic of Willy running along the river

  11. Kittenmom says:

Commercial flight, huh? Is he going to buy out the whole plane for his security team and his massive ego, so no common folk will breathe his precious air?

  12. Lau says:

He’s going to do a pap walk to the plane so that people think he’s just like us.

  13. Jensa says:

I wonder whether he’s doing another feeble “pop concert” for Earthshot in an attempt to ramp up the “glamour”, and if so, whether he’ll be shipping celebs in on private jets from all corners of the world like last time.
There is just zero interest in any of this that I can see.

  14. ML says:

As Earthsh!t Man, Prince William must and should be hyper aware of what causes climate change and how to fight it.
This statement sums up how incredibly unfit he is for the environment, “Prince William will “never tell people not to get on planes” for the environment, a Kensington Palace spokesman said…”
Flying is responsible for emissions that have led to global warming and air and noise pollution. Eff him!

    • Mrs.Krabapple says:

Exactly! Telling people not to fly in planes or drive cars is EXACTLY what Earthsh!t needs to be doing! It’s true that some people in some circumstances will need to fly, but he should recognize that and provide an explanation. It is NOT environmentally responsible to say flying and driving are fine, just because *I* want to fly and drive. It’s like Philip’s hypocrisy of trying to be known as an environmentalist who “saves” big game — but only because *he* wants to hunt them. All these causes mean nothing to royals if *they* will be inconvenienced in any way. So it’s better to tell people to keep flying and driving, just so William doesn’t have to cut down (or justify) it himself.

  15. L4Frimaire says:

Can they ever do an article on William or Kate without mentioning the Sussexes? Also, how do they think Harry flew the to Japan and Singapore for Sentebale or to Germany and New York ? These people can’t get over themselves

  16. Jaded says:

One effing commercial flight does not an environmentalist make.

I’d be interested in how many vehicles the WanKs have between the two of them. They’ve been spotted driving at least 7 ultra high-end cars (Audi A3 and R8, Aston Martin, Range Rover, Jaguar, Bentley) most of which are gas guzzlers with only a couple of electric vehicles. Also Willnot has owned a whole bunch of Triumph, Yamaha, Kawasaki and Ducati superbikes over the years.

    Environmentalist my ass.

  17. Mrs.Krabapple says:

Great. So . . . whatever happened to that £7 million of Earthsh!t money last year that’s unaccounted for?

  18. J.Ferber says:

In the header pic, Kate makes Will look fat, especially his ass and legs. Maybe this is the true reason he’s banning her from all appearances and maybe even divorcing her. This would make perfect sense for him and his priorities: himself alone.

  19. bisynaptic says:

Harry and Meghan took a private jet to the Caribbean? How do we know this?
