Kim Kardashian’s Skims is now the official underwear of the NBA & WNBA

When did you realize that Kim Kardashian’s Skims was going to be her biggest-ever business? I realized in 2021, when Kim scored a deal to supply Skims underwear and sleepwear for Team USA at the Tokyo Olympics. Like, that’s a huge f–king deal, that Skims got the approval of the US Olympic Committee to be one of brands giving gifts to the Olympians. Skims was recently valued at $4 billion, and while Kim doesn’t own 100% of Skims, she has a controlling interest and she eventually plans to take the company public. Now for some more good news for Kim: Skims is now the official underwear of the NBA and WNBA.

The NBA revealed a multiyear partnership with Kim Kardashian‘s viral underwear brand Skims on Monday. The company was named the official underwear partner of the NBA, WNBA and USA Basketball, paving the way for collaborative products and branding at events such as the NBA and WNBA All-Star games.

“I am incredibly proud of Skims’ partnership with the NBA, as it is a reflection of Skims growing influence on culture,” Kardashian said in a statement. “Together, Skims and the NBA will connect people of all backgrounds through fashion, sport and talent, and I look forward to seeing the partnership thrive.”

Kardashian, Skims cofounder Jens Grede and NBA commissioner Adam Silver held the press announcement in Brooklyn Heights on a mockup of a peachy nude-colored Skims basketball court, with the iconic Brooklyn Bridge behind them.

“Skims has quickly become one of our most culturally influential brands,” Silver added. “We look forward to bringing NBA fans and Skims users unique experiences, new offerings and premium products through our partnership.”

Kim has literally built all of this in FOUR YEARS. Sure, it wasn’t her first rodeo and she had years of business deals, clothing lines, failed launches and successful launches before Skims. But Skims was the first real “billion-dollar idea” and what she’s done with it has been remarkable. It’s crazy that she’s now partnering with all of professional basketball.

Say what you want about the kardashians (and people do) but I think Kris and Kim are two of the smartest businesswomen on the planet

    • Her again says:

I agree about Kris, but Jens and Emma Grede are the ones who built SKIMS into what it is.
They also built Good American jeans

    • Seraphina says:

Sorry but I disagree. What that woman did to her children to get them launched and what Kim did to get her name out there at first, makes me disagree.

      • Snuffles says:

To be fair, Kim wasn’t responsible for the sex tape being put out there. But Kris definitely decided to capitalize on the situation and found a way to profit off of it. What Kris is a master at is turning drama into cash.

      • sevenblue says:

@Snuffles, I thought that some documents revealed that the tape was orchestrated by Kris. She even demanded a second take because she watched it and thought they needed a better version. The guy who was in the tape put the documents online the last time Kim alluded that the tape was kind of revenge p*rn. So, he felt the need to clear himself.

      • TheVolvesSeidr says:

I watched Ray Js instagram live that night. He said Kris made him sign a contract, and Kris made them do multiple takes.

  2. Her again says:

Jens and Emma Grede were really the ones who built SKIMS. Kim is the co-founder, but Jens is the CEO, so Jens and Emma were the ones doing the actual building of the brand into what it is.
Emma Grede was also the brains behind Khloes Good American jeans, which have also been extremely successful

    • ME says:

Kim loves to take credit for other people’s work. Nothing new here. Jens and Emma did all the work, came up with all the concepts. Kim couldn’t even come up with a name for the company. In fact, she wanted it to be a lingerie line until someone else suggested doing a shapewear line. She’s literally the face of the brand, but nothing more. Yet, here she is getting all the credit per usual.

  3. Kelsey says:

Can’t stand this family but one thing Kris, Kim, and *sigh* Kylie are gonna do is make $$$

  4. Tila says:

It was Emma and Jens Grede that had the original idea for skims. They needed a popular face to launch it. Kanye West was familiar with the Gredes work and put them in touch. This is not some brainchild from Kim. This was the last good thing Kanye ever did for her and it stuck. This woman is still shilling for random stuff on SM. He Her net worth is massively overplayed. Why would she

    • girl_ninja says:

Exactly. Emma & Jens Gredes are the true masterminds and creators. They were wise to take on Kim who is a thirsty publicity hungry clown with a huge following.

  5. Malcolm says:

The journey she’s taken to get here is honestly remarkable. She’s managed to stay relevant for almost two decades and made a billion dollars along the way.

  6. SophieJara says:

I actually really like how Skims feel, but I will never forget when she had to change all the labels mid-production in her first run because she had named the company “Kimono”.

  7. Snuffles says:

I’ve developed a grudging admiration for the Kardashian’s lately. Those bitches sure do know how to make money.

Her net worth is hyper inflated but Kris does a great job and keeping up the illusion that she’s some illustrious business woman. Remember when she stole Brandi’s mothers credit card too and took Khloe and Rob shopping? Lol.

    • Cee says:

And yet Kim’s involvement ensured the launch was successful and extremely fast for a new brand in a saturated market. It seems they all know how much they bring to the table and are completely fine about it.

  9. Meadows says:

Now all there is to talk about is the nipple bra!

  10. samipup says:

BUT! Inquiring minds want to know. Will the bras be the new “nipple ” version?

*posted at the same time lol*

  11. Trishelle says:

Why does Kim get credit for slapping her name on a product and made out to be a shrewd business person? She didn’t invent shapewear. It is easy to score when you start on third base.
Don’t forget that she is still friends with Ivanka and is a low key MAGA. She and her family are trash and they don’t deserve any praise or grace.

    • Mel says:

ALL. OF. THIS. What she’s reaping with Skims is one of the reasons she decided to marry Kanye. It was a merger, not a marriage, that’s fine but can we stop acting like they’re some genius business people. NONE of them have founded a company and worked it from the ground up, people come to them with deals and they become partners and the face of the business.
