Michelle Yeoh & Gwyneth Paltrow stepped out to support ‘The Brothers Sun’

Here are some photos from last night’s premiere of The Brothers Sun, a Netflix show produced by Brad Fulchuk, aka Mr. Gwyneth Paltrow. Falchuk actually stepped in as showrunner, which is sort of cool. They cast Michelle Yeoh as the mother of two sons, one of whom is a gangster and the other son is an oblivious idiot. It’s supposed to be a comedy. This is Yeoh’s first big promotion and first big project since she won the Best Actress Oscar last year for Everything Everywhere All At Once. One year later, people are still talking about EEAAO’s Oscar wins and whether they hold up. I think Yeoh’s win holds up, but Jamie Lee Curtis’s win does not.

In any case, the premiere photos are sort of cute. Gwyneth Paltrow came out to support her man, and Goop even posed for photos with Michelle, who seemed very pleased. Gwyneth looked pretty good here, I have to admit. The red really suits her, although she’s just a shade too orange. Michelle is ageless and I always love a good animal-print on a red carpet. Her coat might have worked better without the shoulder puffiness, and I also think the coat should be knee-length.

Here’s the trailer for the show. I’m kind of impressed that Falchuk stepped in as showrunner.

Of course Michelle’s win holds up. She just hasn’t been in public’s face day in and out. The been with family, attending events in Malaysia and China, had a birthday, got married and welcomed another grandchild. I know this because I follow her on IG.

I like Gwyneth’s dress a lot. Falchuk is handsome in that dopey California-bro way.

As for Michelle’s win – of course it holds up she was amazing. Jamie Lee’s never did and I’m still baffled that she was even nominated for that role. Let alone won.

There’s more to the story than “stepped in as showrunner” – wonder what happened there? Someone fell down on the job (or got pushed).

There’s a big billboard for this show on the road near my house and I’m definitely putting it on my to-watch list. Love Yeoh and the dudes are cute!

Brad and Gwyneth’s body language is really weird.

Michelle is fantastic. Not a fan of animal print and wish the coat was shorter, but she looks great as always.

    Goop looks really good here.

Agree Goop looks better than she has in ages. The trailer makes me interested in the new show, but I will admit I couldn’t finish EEAAO on streaming. It was too confusing and so much of it was filmed seemingly in the dark.

  7. D says:

Michelle’s skin looks better than Gwyneth’s and she’s 10 years older and doesn’t sell skincare.

I love Michelle and I’ve followed Sam (Song) Li, who plays the innocent “idiot” son, since his comedy skit days as part of Smile Squad. So I’m definitely going to watch!
