Anne Hathaway wore Armani to the National Board of Review Awards: lovely?

Here are photos from last night’s National Board of Review Awards, one of the more prestigious critics’ awards, held in New York. This year’s big NBR Awards went to Killers of the Flower Moon (Best Picture, Director, Actress), Paul Giamatti (Best Actor), Mark Ruffalo (Supporting Actor), Da’Vine Joy Randolph (Supporting Actress) and The Iron Claw (Ensemble), and you can see the full list here. Daniel Day Lewis actually made a surprise appearance to present Marty Scorsese with his award.

Fashion-wise, it was an interesting night. The NBR Awards used to be a pretty low-key event and most people just wore suits or more casual looks, but now people show up in tuxedos and gowns. Anne Hathaway attended and she wore this really lovely Armani gown. She had a blazer but she took it off for the carpet.

Lily Gladstone wore a conservative black gown and she looked lovely.

Da’Vine Joy Randolph also kept it simple in a black gown. I’ve mentioned a few times that Da’Vine’s stylists are doing amazing work during the awards season. In case you’re curious, she works with Wayman Bannerman and Micah McDonald, and they’re going to designers to create custom looks throughout the awards season. Rodarte’s designers even reached out to Da’Vine because they wanted to create something for her for the Golden Globes.

Jessica Chastain wore this vibrant Vivienne Westwood. Love the color and she looked so dressed up.

Elizabeth Olsen in Thom Browne. Yeah, I’m usually not a huge fan of Thom Browne and I feel like this dress has one too many ideas.

Laura Linney!! I wish Linney was in more movies.

Paul Giamatti attended the awards with his girlfriend/partner Clara Wong. Billions fans might recognize Clara – she played his dominatrix on the show. That’s apparently how they met. Paul Giamatti is really in his King Era.

The color shift on Jessica’s gown is beautiful!

Jessica Chastain took this one by a mile. Anne looks very beautiful but that dress without a necklace would have been perfect for a set of epic earrings. I’m sure the diamonds are lovely in person but she could have done something more spectacular.

Agree. That color is gorgeous on Jessica Chastain (not a fan of how it fits around the waist, but she looks amazing). Anne’s look needs stronger accessories, the top is too bare. Agree with Pinkosaurus, with that collar line, if you’re going without a necklace, statement earrings are in order. Otherwise it’s a bit of snooze fest for me.

Why does Anne look like Dua Lipa in these pictures?

I love Anne’s dress. Very classic and chic.

I also love Jessica Chastain’s, and she’s not my favorite on the red carpet. But she looks great here, that’s a gorgeous color.

I hate Laura Linney’s dress. LOVE Jessica’s dress. Anne looks great as well. I don’t mind Elizabeth’s Thom Browne dress. I used to not be a fan of Thom Browne but once I learned more about the house code I came to appreciate the point of view and aesthetic more.

A rare miss for Laura. No to the big old sleeves, the scraped back hair and colorless makeup. She is so pretty. They had to work hard to make her nondescript. I didn’t l even know it was her.

I like a few of these but why is the lighting so bad? It looks like they’re in a badly lit corridor from an underground car park.

The BEST I’ve ever seen Chastain look. She looks stunning here and that dress is absolute perfection. Anne always looks great to me and this is no exception. I don’t mind the Thom Browne dress at all–it’s a cool-looking structured dress IMO. Da’Vine looks lovely but I wish she had a glittery shawl or statement necklace…something on/near her décolletage would really elevate that beautiful black dress. Without accessories it looks rather plain.

Lily has such a lovely face. I mean this deeply. I see her face and I just happy sigh. It’s really nice for me to look at!

This is the loveliest Jessica has looked on a red carpet since the days of Oscar Isaac sniffing/kissing her armpit in front of the cameras.

  11. Kimberly says:

Jessica looks great in that gown. The colour is lovely & compliments her well. Only 1 critique though. I wish her hair was styled better than that. Either these Hollywood hairstylists are AMATEURS or were following instructions with that poor styling.
