Lily Gladstone wore a custom velvet Gucci gown to the Oscars: stunning?

Even though she did not win the Best Actress Oscar, Lily Gladstone had a wonderful awards season. She picked up a SAG Award, a Golden Globe, the National Board of Review Award and several other critics awards. She could have been the first Native American actor to win an Oscar, if not for Emma Stone’s bonkers performance in Poor Things. People are mad about Lily missing out on the Oscar, but honestly, a shakeup in Best Actress was in the cards for more than a month. I get it though – it would have been a huge moment for Native American representation and for Lily.

For her big Oscar night, Lily wore a Gucci gown with a special backstory. It was a custom look in which the House of Gucci collaborated with Joe Big Mountain of Ironhouse Quillwork, a Native American designer and artisan. The “quilled petals” were done by hand by a team of artists on the Oneida reservation. You can read more about her special look here at Vogue. Her jewelry was Bulgari.

For a second, I was like “why is Kirsten Dunst at the Oscars, what film is she in?” Then I realized that she was supporting her husband Jesse Plemons, who was in Killers of the Flower Moon. Jesse and Kirsten both wore Gucci too. Kirsten’s dress is rather plain, which is fine – she’s the plus-one.

Ryan Gosling also wore Gucci!

Lily looks great! I love the collaboration & the jewelry is perfect for the overall look.

Is it just me or has Jesse Plemons lost quite a bit of weight? Maybe it’s just an awards season thing, but I hope he’s ok.

I wanted Lily to win. Her dress and all the details are exquisite. Cannot wait to see what happens next gator her. I want her to have many more opportunities. Kirsten and Jesse are v cute together.

Lily looked beautiful and I love the story behind her gown.
Kirsten & Jesse make such a cute couple, it’s great how they support and show up for each other.
What’s not to love about Ryan? His performance of Just Ken was one of the biggest highlights of the evening. He was having a blast and it was so infectious. Phenomenal!

I’m so sad for Lily and everyone who was pulling for her. I’m also pretty angry that KOTFM didn’t win anything! I definitely thought soundtrack was in the running as well—it was the great Robbie Robertson. Her dress is gorgeous and I love the backstory. I also love that she has been showcasing Indigenous artists and designers during this award season. I think she has a great future ahead of her, but this would have been such a moment!

Lily looks lovely and the story behind the dress makes it meaningful and touching. She’s let her hair down in recent red carpets and I think this looks much better on her – when her hair is tied, it can look a bit severe.

  6. Sass says:

Holy crap Jesse has lost a lot of weight.

      Ozempic, clearly.

someone tweeted from the auditorium that *everyone* in Hollywood-even the men-are taking it.

      • Kaye says:

I thought that Jesse had lost all that weight before we started hearing about Ozempic. Doesn’t mean that he wasn’t an early user, of course, but his weight loss doesn’t seem that recent to me.

  7. Sharon says:

I am gutted. I feel as bad as I did when Djokovic beat Rafa in the French in 2021! And you said it! ‘I get it though – it would have been a huge moment for Native American representation and for Lily.’
She played her part with quiet dignity.

  8. Carol says:

Lily easily had the best look of the night.

  9. Ameerah M says:

They set Lily up for failure by nominating her in the Best Actress Category. It was a supporting role. And she probably would have won had she been nominated in the correct category.

    • Lady Digby says:

I felt that the screen play diluted the role of all the women when Molly and her mom and sisters should have been the focus. She was soulful and the beating heart of that movie but decentralized by the script.

Lily’s dress was one of my fave Oscar gowns ever. A gorgeous, truly special piece. The color, fit, and details were perfect – and her jewelry was amazing. I just loved the thought and intention that went into every part of her look. Lily’s nomination was important and historic – I was hoping she’d win.

Lily and her dress were stunning. I watched the Oscars live at our local repertory theatre in Ottawa and the whole theatre gasped when Emma Stone’s name was read out. Kirsten and Jesse look fab and always adorable together. Ontario boy Ryan continues to ooze charm.

  12. QuiteContrary says:

    Lily looks gorgeous.

And Ryan Gosling is just ridiculously good-looking.

    • PRINCESSGONEAWOL says:

My husband again asked if Ryan Gosling could sing (he wanted to see “Barbie” and asked that question at the time). We are both very impressed!

  13. Katherine says:

Kirsten Dunst and her husband are starting to really look alike!

Lily’s tribe had an Oscar watch party. There are videos on YouTube.
