Presenter Issa Rae was in a forest green AMI Paris gown with an open sequin top and velvet skirt. She looked so gorgeous but more than that she looked comfortable without sacrificing style at all. Look at this dress in motion it’s so striking.
Laverne Cox was hyping Issa and saying how great her hair and skin looked, which was true! Laverne wore a Thierry Mugler gown from 1986 with a shell-like gold bodice and flowing skirt. I love her commitment to vintage looks this awards season! Laverne brings it every time.
If you told me Becky G was in Barbie I would believe you. (She was not! I double checked.) She looked like a doll in this Vera Wang with a crystal sequin corset top and satin black skirt. Becky performed the Flamin’ Hot song, written by Diane Warren, which was nominated for an Oscar, The Fire Inside. It was a great song which I have to admit I hadn’t heard before last night. It was a fun performance with a bunch of cute kids as backup dancers. As for her dress it was a look we’ve seen from other designers on many red carpets but it was still glam and pretty.
A very pregnant Vanessa Hudgens wore a full length Vera Wang gown as one of ABC’s red carpet interviewers. It was a real choice to call out people for speculating that she was pregnant and then to debut said pregnancy at the Oscars just a couple of days later.
Vanessa’s co-red carpet host Julianne Hough was in an extreme empire waist Alexandre Vauthier gown with a voluminous white skirt and a tiered sequin mixed metallic bandeau. This dress doesn’t photograph as well as it looks on camera. I found it very unique and pretty. Julianne has definitely grown on me over the years.

Issa looks simply radiant in that dress, it’s sexy without being “in your face sexy”, I think she really nailed it.
Julianne’s dress: not a big fan but I can see how this would look ten times better in motion. I’ll give her points for eschewing the standard pretty, soft-colored, conventionnally-structured dress. At least this stands out.
Julianne’s dress is actually pants, I believe. You can see the split in the hem. (And I also wish she hadn’t messed with her face.)
I don’t know, why can’t Vanessa push back on speculation even if she is pregnant?
I get that it’s a bit weird, but let her announce (or not announce) it on her own terms. The whole pregnancy speculation in general on women is awful, just let’s all stop doing that to other women.
Agreed, it’s her choice to announce it when she’s ready.

@Notjust, I agree that speculation about women’s bodies and pregnancies is obnoxious and inappropriate. However, in the case of Vanessa Hudgens, I do think it was a weird choice to scold people for their speculation, only to “debut” the pregnancy days later.

I feel Vanessa Hudgens got married and pregnant quickly is to prove to Austin Butler and the world that she is over him. I mean he is on his way to be an acting icon of his generation while she working the red carpet and has minor roles. It’s a hard pill to swallow that she got dumped when he broke out so she’s performing happiness
Issa’s dress is beautiful and she looks gorgeous but she’s done this look a lot, so for me it was a bit of a fail because I have seen it from her a lot. I mean it’s great but I would like to see her do something different.
