Brooke Mueller told police Charlie Sheen had been abusive before

An Evening With "Two And A Half Men" - Arrivals

This Charlie Sheen-Brooke Mueller domestic violence situation is getting sketchier and more heartbreaking by the moment. Post-incident (which happened on Christmas Day), Charlie’s media team went into overdrive, at once attacking Brooke and embracing her and her marriage to Charlie. As the days pass, however, it becomes clearer that something definitely went down that morning, and most of it was some bad sh-t.

First up, the 911 audio was released of Brooke’s plea for help. She’s muttering and muffled, but from what I could get out of it was that Brooke tells the 911 operator that Charlie had a knife, he threatened her with the knife, and that he’s either trying to get out of the house, or he’s being detained by other people in the house. She also says she “needs to file” the report against Charlie, which makes it seem (to me) like someone had already tried to talk her out of it. I have another theory about that statement too, but first, here’s the audio:

My other theory about the whole “I need to file a report” thing is that it sounded (to me) like Brooke had chosen not to file a report against Charlie previously, like when he maybe got violent with her in the past, but that she had made up her mind to actually file this time. The actual police report confirms this theory of mine, because Brooke apparently told the cops on the scene that Charlie had “done this to her before.” Radar also notes that the police report indicates the following: Brooke had no obvious injuries; Charlie did have a switchblade; Charlie confessed to breaking Brooke’s glasses, but not to strangling her, hitting her or threatening her with the knife; and the whole argument started when Brooke told Charlie she wanted a divorce.

If convicted of the felony assault charges he is currently facing, Charlie could get up to eight years in jail. There’s also some gossip going around that Charlie is going to go back into rehab, for the third time. Eh. I’d like to see Charlie do some jail time, quite honestly. Let’s hope it’s not just another slap on the wrist.

Update by Celebitchy: TMZ is also reporting that Charlie held Brooke down and held a switchblade to her throat, that she had visible marks on her throat when she spoke to police, and that he threatened to kill her. Charlie threatened to kill Brooke with the knife and allegedly said he would put a hit out on her if she didn’t keep quiet. “I have ex-police I can hire who know how to get the job done and they won’t leave any trace.”

Didn’t he beat the brakes off his ex too?

Geez – he is quite hectic with his threats. Sicko

  2. BB says:

Brooke is a gold-digger. She knew all about Charlie’s bad temper, drug abuse and domestic violence. She knew everything, but she wanted fame, glamorous life and money. Charlie will never change.
Perhaps prison will be good “therapy” for him?

  3. Kelly-Michelle says:

So sad for Brooke. Charlie Sheen is a psycho! And his drug abuse is no excuse. He’s had time and money to work out his issues, which is more than what some people have.

  4. GatsbyGal says:

Please let Charlie Sheen go to jail. There’s not a doubt in my mind that he’s done this before to probably every woman he’s ever been with.

  5. Pont Neuf says:

Wow! This is beyond crazy… I had no idea that Charlie Sheen was THAT degraded a human being. Obviously, he has some very serious mental problems. I don’t think he should be sent to prison: a good few months locked in a psychiatric institution, receiving the therapy he obviously needs, would do him a world of good.

I wonder how Martin Sheen, a peace activist, feels about his son’s violent outbursts against women. I bet he isn’t very proud.

A for Brooke, it’s irrelevant whether she’s a gold-digger or a fame whore. No one deserves to be in such a horrible situation. Poor girl.

  6. Lita says:

Even if she *is* a gold digger – gold digger doesn’t equal “I like to be smacked about and have my life threatened.”

  7. diva says:

First of all no actor should be paid $800,000 per episode like he is for his stupid tv show. All actors on tv should be paid a flat rate. CBS should fire him off his show, he is getting paid way too much money for them to “support him through this difficult time.”

  8. clare says:

Sad that Denise Richard’s allegations against him at the time weren’t taken seriously. He and his team trashed her.

Here’s a link to a monsters and critics article about Brooke Mueller’s parents. I don’t think she needs Charlie’s money.

  9. Popcorny says:

Big deal … we all could have told the police that Charlie’s been abusive before. She’s a lil late for that party.

  10. SolitaryAngel says:

Brooke is reaping what she sows, but Charlie has GOT to go away somewhere. For a long long time; and I feel sorry for those babies and the Sheen family.
OT: What the heck has Emilio Estevez been up to? I miss seeing HIM!

  11. Peach says:

Isn’t it grand how a man can threaten to kill his wife–the most common cause of unnatural death in women 20-50 in the United States–and we yawn?

They say when a woman tries to leave her abusive situation that is when it becomes the most dangerous.

I pray for all women who are battling with this situation. Be they rich, poor, goldiggers, shallow, kind, talented, or not.

I hope that asshat goes to jail and rots.

  12. Tia C says:

I really like Charlie Sheen on “Two and a Half Men.” I just really enjoy that show. It’s light, fluffy and funny, and one of the very few sit-coms I will watch. I am sad to hear about his horrible behavior. It’s also sad that it’s not surprising news. I wonder if he’ll ever break this cycle.

On a side note, there’s one person who is probably happy with Charlie Sheen this week: Tiger Woods!

  13. Embee says:

Very good point, Peach. It’s a sad sign that we can be anything but horrified at the reporting of such a violent assault. “Boys will be boys..” (or “Charlie will be Charlie”) and such excrement.

  14. BitterBetty says:

I just found out he once SHOT then girlfriend Kelly Preston “by mistake”! what a freaking sociopath! any woman that gets involved with him must be suicidal.

  15. Mel says:

I think all of his ex’s should get together and write a tell all of how he treated them (each can get a chapter), and then every woman should have read it to ensure that no one else marries him!

  16. Sakota says:

The sort of hope that women hold out for abusive men are the same as the Jews that held out hope that the Nazis wouldn’t treat them any worse, even up to when they were being shoved into the gas chamber.

  17. Carrie says:

It truly pains me to admit that Denise Richards, a woman I have zero respect for, was probably telling the truth during her divorce/custody battle with Charlie.
What worries me beyond Brooke is the children: 2 girls with Denise, and 2 twin boys with Brooke. If he is this unbalanced (and I fully believe that he has been violent with most/all of his relationships, not to mention the drugs and prostitutes) then he shouldn’t be having unsupervised visits with any of these young children.
I hope social services gets REALLY involved in this.

  18. bella mama says:

Accidentally shot then fiancée Kelly Preston in the arm. Soon after that incident, she left him

Dated former porn star Ginger Lynn Allen.

5/22/98: Upon release from the hospital, he checked into Promises, a rehab center, where he stayed for only one day. His car was later pulled over and police arrested him for using medications and drinking. Sheen re-entered Promises on doctor’s orders.

5/20/98: Hospitalized in Thousand Oaks, CA, for a drug overdose.

5/21/97: Charged with misdemeanor battery against his ex-girlfriend Brittany Ashland.

5/21/96: Arrested for allegedly assaulting a woman at his home in Agoura, CA. The woman claims she was pushed to the floor and knocked out.

yeah, i’d say he has women issue. dude.

  19. Aprill says:

This guy is a sociopath. She tried to leave him and he came after her. She is lucky she survived that confrontation- some women don’t make it. I believe he did threaten to kill Brooke and will try to carry it out. Sheen don’t seem to respect women at all.
Money keep him floating in Hollywood to abuse another women another day.
Once an abuser always an abuser and Sheen has proven this over and over again. Still people cheer him on.
I’m disgusted with CBS for fronting this abuser and trying to smear his wife to save him.

  20. trashaddict says:

Does it occur to anybody that he had to learn this from somewhere?????

  21. BitterBetty says:

@ trashaddict: I was just thinking how did he turn into such scum… all I know is that Martin Sheen used to be a drinker, but there must be more to it.

  22. Eyeglasses says:

I don’t understand. Why would he try to kill her? That’s not to say that other celebrities haven’t been abusive but I think there are two sides to this story and we’re not hearing all the facts.

  23. So I’m guessing we won’t see a diamond engagement ring there… 🙂

  24. Bri says:

Charlie Sheen is a sociopath. His life reeks of actions that are symptoms of those with this social disorder, which are extremely similar to that of my ex. My ex was also a sociopath. Sociopaths are after two things; sex and power. They do not feel like normal people do, so that is all they have left to use to satisfy themselves. The people between their goals are mere stepping stones to befriend, exploit, and toss away. Sociopaths are expert actors and manipulators, often coercing people to do their bidding.

There is no winning against a sociopath as they have a shallow sense of right and wrong. They tell themselves what is true and they tell themselves what is false, meanwhile conjuring up ‘evidence’ to enforce their delusional beliefs about you, people you/they know, and the world. For example, my ex was quite emotionally abusive, and believed it was not abuse as long as he did not touch me. It didn’t occur to him that what he was doing was wrong, and he often accused me of cheating with no true proof (It turned out in the end that he was cheating on me).

    Some symptoms of Sociopaths include…

    – Substance abuse
    – Self-righteousness (“I’m not what’s wrong, it’s everyone else. I’m the smartest!”)
    – Inability to take responsibility (It’s never their fault, and often blame others)
    – Argumentative (Often ‘win’ through manipulation)
    – Shallow emotions (They will sweep you off your feet with their charm and confidence, but it is all an act to set you up and soften your heart for exploitation).
    – Remorselessness (I would be a sobbing wreck, but my ex would keep up the pressured interrogation)
    – Promiscuity
    – Persistent Lying
    – Paranoia
    – Extreme Secrecy
    – Aggressiveness, Anger
    – Distorted sense of self (They never see anything wrong with themselves)
    – Distorted sense of right and wrong (Sociopaths are often found in positions like policemen, judges, social workers and charity workers to keep up a ‘positive’ image (“Oh look at him, he’s so generous!”, but will use and abuse everyone in their path to satisfy themselves)
    – Abusive relationships (They do not feel love, only anger)
    – Irresponsible work behavior
    – Recurring difficulties with the law
    – Self entitlement to wealth/objects
