Megan Thee Stallion sued for harassment, creating a hostile work environment

Megan Thee Stallion probably parties like a rock star at times, but I get the sense that in recent years, she’s been more organized and living a pretty clean lifestyle. She works out a lot, she eats healthy, she’s always recording and working. But, as I said, I’m sure she still has rock star moments because she is, in fact, a total rock star. Apparently, Megan had a rock star moment in the back of an SUV in Ibiza, and now her former cameraman/videographer is suing her.

A former cameraman for Megan Thee Stallion who alleges that he was trapped inside a moving vehicle with the hip-hop star in a foreign country while she had sex with a woman has filed a lawsuit accusing the entertainer of harassment and a hostile work environment.

Emilio Garcia said in the suit filed Tuesday in Los Angeles County Superior Court that after the alleged incident he was warned, “don’t ever discuss what you saw,” and berated, fat-shamed and treated differently by Megan. The “harassment was so severe or pervasive” that it created a “hostile, abusive work environment” that made Garcia’s “working conditions intolerable,” the suit said.

“This is an employment claim for money — with no sexual harassment claim filed and with salacious accusations to attempt to embarrass her. We will deal with this in court,” an attorney for Megan Thee Stallion, Alex Spiro, said Tuesday.

Garcia began working for Megan Thee Stallion, whose real name is Megan Pete, as a personal cameraman in 2018, quit his job in 2019 to pursue the gig with the Grammy winner full time and worked for her until June 2023, the lawsuit stated. Garcia said in the lawsuit that he traveled with Megan to Ibiza, Spain, in June 2022 and that while in an SUV with Megan and three other women after a night out, Megan and one of the women began to have sex next to him in the moving car.

“I felt uncomfortable. I was kind of frozen, and I was shocked. At kind of just be the overall audacity to do this right, right beside me,” Garcia told NBC News in an interview.

Yeah, I don’t know what to say here? This guy might have a case but Megan’s lawyer clearly doesn’t think so. If Garcia’s claims are true – a big IF – then sure, I could see how he could have a case. Trapped in a car with women having sex with each other – that’s incredibly uncomfortable and unprofessional in a work setting and could be traumatizing. That being said, I read some of Garcia’s other claims, like Megan allegedly calling him “fat,” and I don’t know, that stuff doesn’t sound like Megan whatsoever. Which makes me wonder about the most salacious aspects of his case.

I take all of these things with a huge grain of salt until the evidence rolls in. Sometimes it supports, but other times — especially when the claims don’t sound like the person at all — it falls apart pretty quickly or gets settled in such a way it’s clear the worst aspects of the case weren’t supported and the only goal was a far lower payout to make them go away.

Ricky Martin is a great recent example of this. His own (it turns out, very troubled) nephew claimed all of this salacious abuse with details that would make your toes curl (and thus get tongues wagging, increasing the pressure to settle quickly with a payoff) and none of it held up. Thankfully, Martin emerged unscathed. Less so Timothy Hutton, whose career effectively ended with a very salacious accusation of sexual assault. Ultimately, the story changed too much, and no evidence to support provided or able to be found, and the investigation closed/case dismissed…but Hutton’s rep still destroyed. So I just hold off on any opinion until I see evidence and, if I do (Jonathan Majors, et. al.) I react accordingly, but only then.

I especially give a little grace to women, especially black women, who have an established, deranger “hate” section to the point people orchestrate campaigns, rumors, and cyberbullying of them. MtS has had this ever since she was shot and chose to prosecute rather than “settle and forget” to protect her famous abuser’s career (he was sentenced to 10 years in jail) and it’s gotten nuts with people taking his side and blaming her for not letting it go (even claiming she shot herself to frame him), etc. That derangement is REAL in some circles so I’m gonna just wait and see who this person is, how their accusation holds up, and who is funding/encouraging their lawsuit.

Re: your last sentences. Let’s remember Nicki Minaj who has paid people to stalk and death-threat her husband’s rape victim and her recent behavior (Big Foot).
Not saying it’s her. But it’s a good example of the kind of people angry at Megan for her role in pressing charges on Tory, and for exposing them, etc.

I’m sorry for him if this is what he experienced. But the shaming goes against Megan’s MO and there are also lots of people in hip hop who are very angry at her success. So, I side-eye this a bit, sorry.

Except. This sounds just like Meg. She’ll blame it on drinking. If this was a male rapper who had sex with someone else with a female employee right there – folks would be livid. She doesn’t get a pass (if true) just because she’s a woman.

The article hasn’t talked much about how his work got cut back substantially after the event, and he eventually got canned. That’s not just a hostile work environment, it’s retaliation. I think we at least owe this man the benefit of the doubt.

I adore Megan but we are all flawed. And honestly I am glad to see no one is batting an eye about the alleged sex being with a woman. I took hope this isn’t true, but the court will decide.

Most of this sounds like an employment dispute. His work contract was changed for some reason, he wasn’t OK with that and is now suing. The sex in the car story was added to help to his case. Maybe it really happened, he wasn’t there, but someone told him about it. Or he was there and it didn’t bother him at the time. Or this is all true. Megan’s reputation is good, and people have told lies about her before, so it makes sense that people aren’t immediately believing this guy. I’m going to wait for more information.
