Anne Hathaway wore Versace to ‘The Idea of You’ NYC premiere: sexy & cute?

Anne Hathaway and her bangs were very busy in New York on Monday. Anne is in the middle of a promotional blitz for The Idea of You, which had its big premiere last night. Anne also did the morning-show rounds and happily posed for the paparazzi as she ran around. I’m including premiere photos and daytime paparazzi pics in this post.

For the premiere, Anne wore Versace, a va-va-voom red strapless dress which I find very flattering and beautiful. It does feel like Anne’s bangs sort of downgrade the look though – instead of looking like a movie star, she looks like a stay-at-home mom who got a makeover on a talk show. Which is probably on-brand for the movie, right? Anne’s character isn’t supposed to be some glamorous figure – she’s just a normal divorced mom who ends up with a rock star (played by Nicholas Galitzine).

This week, Anne revealed that she’s now over five years sober. In her recent Vanity Fair cover story, she revealed that she had stopped drinking after realizing that drinking just wasn’t for her. I didn’t realize that her sobriety journey had been happening for so long though – five years sober is amazing. Good for her.

Anne’s other looks earlier in the day were interesting – she’s going very monochromatic, very matchy. The all-white ensemble is from Patou and she just looks like she’s wearing an old-school “sexy nurse” costume. The white tights were certainly a choice! The aquamarine look is from Simkhai – very flattering and cute.

  1. Love the red and the light blue dress. The white outfit not so much.

I love it all the way up to the bust line. I don’t like the up tick either side of her boobs. But then again I’m not overly fond of bare shoulder dresses. It’s a lovely red on her. People think it’s simple for very dark brunettes to wear red but believe me it can be tough to get the right red.

She looks good. Personally, I’ve always wanted to do bangs. So what Kaiser sees as tragic, I see as covetable😂. But my skin is so oily and my hair is so oily that it would mean constant breakouts.

Do you know what, Jais, this year I saw a photo of someone in UK Vogue with a great fringe bob cut. I thought, that’s it, I’m going for it. I’ve never had the confidence before (sounds bloody stupid, I know!). My stylist has done a great job and it has totally changed my look and my feelings towards my hair! I’m sorry you can’t do it. One of my kids has oily hair and the spots he gets around his hairline are difficult to deal with; it’s a constant game of finding the best products for him.

Yes, the red and aquamarine dresses are beautiful and look great on her. The white tights just propelled me back to the 80s (though I mostly wore them with red shoes, they were still awful).

  5. Jilly says:

I thought it was Dakota Johnson before I read on….

Ha ha. I can see where you’re coming from. It’s so strange when a photo on here wrong foots you. Kaiser was recently posting a great deal about a male celebrity, I can’t remember which, and I was forever thinking it was Michael Sheen in the pictures but with the most random article attached to him!

  6. Nicole says:

That red dress fits her like a glove. That bodice could have gone so very wrong, but it’s beautiful on her.

  7. Isa says:

I don’t like the front of the red dress, but the back of it is gorgeous.
Also looking forward to this movie. I’m glad romcoms are coming back to the big screen. I know some are available on streaming, but there’s always something lacking.

  8. Nivz says:

To me, she is (almost always) impossibly chic. Maybe it’s from loving her in the devil wears Prada all those years ago. And I love a good bangs situation, sorry Kaisercita.

  9. TheCrankyFairy says:

The red dress is beautifully tailored, but I don’t care for how they did the seams/edging.

Nicholas needs a better tailor and/or stylist.

instead of looking like a movie star, she looks like a stay-at-home mom who got a makeover on a talk show – This exactly, I just don’t think she’s a Versace girl. I really don’t understand why they chose her for the campaign unless there really wasn’t anyone else who wanted to do it who was more suitable
