The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s final public outing in Nigeria was a trip to Lagos Polo Club for a charity polo match. The match benefited Nigeria: Unconquered, which is the Nigerian Invictus team/program. Can I just say? This trip was so impressive. The way it was organized, the events Harry and Meghan did together and separately, how they kept everything moving, how they honored the country and, in turn, how they accepted the many honors bestowed on them by various Nigerian organizations. Prince Harry and his Nigerian princess probably had to buy like ten new suitcases to bring home all of their gifts. As for the polo event, Meghan wore a muted Johanna Ortiz halter gown.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry headed to a familiar place for the final outing on their last day in Nigeria: the polo field! The Duke and Duchess of Sussex visited the prestigious Lagos Polo Club for a reception in aid of Nigeria Unconquered. Founded in 1904, the Lagos Polo Club stands as one of Nigeria’s oldest and most esteemed social clubs, renowned for its vibrant equestrian culture and polo tournaments.
The couple put on a glam display, with Meghan opting for a cream halter-style print dress by Johanna Ortiz, Burberry sandals and her go-to Heidi Merrick “Santa Barbara” sunglasses. Harry wore a button-up under a dark suit jacket and matching pants.
Shortly after their arrival, Harry and Meghan settled into their seats in the stands and enjoyed a pre-game parade. The parade featured children dressed in polo gear, carrying the green and white flag of Nigeria. Following them were a group of older children riding on horseback.
Yeah – this wasn’t my favorite look on Meghan, but I will say this, it looked better in full-length shots. It “walked” well and moved well. Meghan and Harry looked very chic at the polo match and, again, I love the way the trip was organized and that they had a full agenda and schedule. They made the most out of their three days in the country and it sounds like they are both eager to return. Hell, Harry is probably ready to move there.
Enjoying some Polo yesterday with Prince Harry and Meghan (the Duke and Duchess of Sussex); The Chief of Defence Staff and wife; and the President of the Lagos Polo Club @cavpolo and wife at the Lagos Polo Club yesterday. As usual Local Man is active ✌🏾.

I thought she looked ethereal and elegant. I LOVE that she’s showing a little more skin. Can’t really copykeen this look.
Ha! I’ve been thinking that too. Some of the backless and keyhole designs would be difficult to copykeen.
Our Nigerian Princess is the epitome of effortless chic.
The plunge on the front is supposed to go down further, so I think she altered it or tied it differently so that it sat higher up, which is why the bodice looks kind of unflattering; it’s not really meant to fit that way.
Polo Meg may be my favorite. She always looks rich and elegant.
This trip was a huge success imo and I would not be surprised if other countries in participating in IG see this trip and start making their own requests to have H&M visit along with the IG team. It was great publicity for charities, veterans and the country in general. Huge kudos to them!
You know what makes me happy.. that kate won’t copy her Outfits now…
Yes. Same @Mego. I was really sick of seeing her copy Meghan.
She looked fabulous and we can be certain that there will be no cosplaying of these looks.
I loved this look, especially with the pop of color at her ears. This really was a great trip for all involved based on pictures.
@becks1 I think those earrings were gifted to her the night before during her investiture. They are the same coral as the necklaces she and Harry received.
Aw. I love that.
Those earrings made the look for me! I’d buy them in a flash if I could as they are sooo gorgeous 🤩
I can’t get over how her Burberry sandals are from 2013. What kind of closet system does she have? I mean, I have clothes left over from university, but they’re at the bottom of dusty boxes in the back of my closet. I feel like I should be inspired by her, but my inertia gets in the way.
I like her dress when I see it up close and I love the coral earrings. She did a stunning job on her wardrobe.
Maybe if I had Burberry sandals instead of Target sandals I might be more likely to take great care of them 😉
Hard agree! I love that she rewears so many pieces and they feel fresh every time. A testament to how timeless fashion can be if you pick the right pieces.
Maybe if it were a bold green or blue it would have looked better. She needs to listen to the women of Nigeria who told her to wear colors. I suppose she had already pack all of her beige looks. Let’s hope she goes home and finds some colorful new outfits. She did look lovely even in the muted color.
I thought it was a smart choice. She wore either muted colors or solids, which stood out from the vibrant prints the Nigerian women were wearing. I do hope she’s less afraid of color going forward, though.
See, I thought this dress looked glam. The neck detail and the flow. Loved it. This trip has been so good. It was jam-packed but it must be so nice to work with a team of competent people you like. James Holt, David Wiseman, Misan Harriman, their private security team. Compared to going on trips with people who are secretly back-stabbing and sabotaging. It must be such a relief. Everyone looked happy. And the hosts should be proud. They showed such care and warmth, from security to thoughtful moments throughout.
I love her style, muted or bright. She stays mostly winning. The yellow dress was my favorite but I also moved the peach dress on day one.
She has such style, you can’t buy it (as AI MIA knows).
Ugh. I cannot pick a favorite.
I desperately want those sunglasses!
She is serene and absolutely regal.
Desperately? Really? Then do you want to know that a 10% off coupon pops up when you go to the site? Or that there are less expensive shades out there that are very similar? Just want to put that out there…
Meghan is the most photogenic person around. There isn’t a bad pic of her, she looks just as great in neutrals as she does bold colors. I loved all looks this trip, including this dress. @Kirsten noted the neckline plunge was altered so it doesn’t look the same as on the model, but I think it’s beautiful. I think the yellow dress was my top look for the trip.
Shoot I was typing when you posted but I agree, the yellow dress! Omg.
It’s the same yellow dress Meghan wore in the Netflix documentary for Archie’s first birthday! And now we know too, after seeing Misan’s original color picture of H&M near their Jacaranda tree, that Meg was wearing this same yellow Carolina Herrera dress for their third pregnancy announcement portrait on February 14, 2021. 💛❤️
J’adore that so many of Meghan’s and Harry’s sartorial looks in Nigeria are closet re-wears. 🫠👏🏽
They worked, worked, worked. There were no vacation days at another country’s expense. There was no listening, no learning, no inspection. There was knowledge, friendship, and strength shared. The visit was a partnership, not a ruler inspecting his subjects. That is the difference between H&M and BRF. And it’s significant.
💯 AGREE!!!
A bit of summary of my thoughts on clothing during this AMAZING Nigeria visit.
1.) Harry is a secure, caring husband. He didn’t interfere with Megan’s wardrobe choices. Some men will forbid their wives/girlfriends/partners wearing clothing not to their liking; Harry was like, oh bare back, bare shoulders, revealed chest area, that’s my beautiful wife!
2.) Why people mostly complain about FEMALES wear neutral colors? Most men, regardless of skin color, look good in jewelry tone clothin. But they usually wear dark color suits or whit/cream/beige suits and white shirts, and people don’t call out their clothes being sad. *eye-rolling*
I think she looks amazing in everything she wears. I absolutely love her.
She looked beautiful throughout the entire trip. I loved this look just as well muted and all. But my favorite was also the yellow dress. I loved the blue and navy skirt outfit she wore too. They both looked so good. As someone else pointed out above…They didn’t fly over to vacation on someone else dime and they were engaged. They weren’t there inspecting or “listening and learning”. I just love this for them and the welcome they recieved by all. Harry truly is Princess Diana legacy and son. William must be steaming right about now. No wonder his staff quit. Imagine having to coddle Heuvo right now after this visit. I bet it’s off the charts.
Color is nice but the dress does not fit her well. This is my next to least-favorite of this trip (peach one was lowest ranked). The Joanna Ortiz sundress might be my favorite silhouette this time around–fit her like a glove yet still looked so cool and breezy and casual–of the more formal looks, I loved the red Orire dress for its bright color and pop-out hemline.
I’ve been vocal on other sites and I’ve also loved her dresses from this designer, Johanna Ortiz. BUT, big but, I went to her IG to look at other clothing and in her stories was an unveiling of a new print and dresses:
“The whimsical tie-dye horse prints from PF24 introduce a dreamy aspect while paying homage to the rich cultural heritage of the Sioux people. The prints are inspired by the intricate storytelling found in Sioux paintings, portraying scenes of daily life & the depth of their Tribal traditions & history. Painting by @peterchorao inspired by an iconic photograph of Edward S. Curtis.”
So many red flags. Indigenous people and artists loathe the entire “inspired by” thing which is a money grab and colonizer behavior through and through. Also, Curtis photos!?! Please. Definitely an early example of stealing culture for your own benefit and stereotyping Native people. There’s the homage, not to the Lakota people. I did communicate directly, in a respectful manner, which is generally my approach on a first effort. No response and that’s fine. But, it very much colors my view of her designs. Thanks for reading, if you did. Lol. An older post, I know.
