Is Bradley Cooper denying Renee Zellweger babies?

This is hilarious/weird/sad story from the National Enquirer, and I’m still unsure if I believe any part of it. It’s about The Zellweger and The Coop, and whether or not there will ever be some squinty, pointy-chinned babies running around the Casa de Zell-Coop. Oh – the article starts with the premise that Renee and Bradley are very close to getting married, and are already planning their wedding. I don’t believe that. But the main thrust of the article is that old sexist point of “she wants babies and he doesn’t, so he’ll probably dump her.” It kind of writes itself:

“Bradley only recently got his first taste of Hollywood stardom with ‘The Hangover’ and as much as he loves Renee, he’s not ready for a family,” a close pal told the Enquirer. “In his mind, marriage is one thing, but kids are quite another.”

While Bradley, 35, is positioned as the next big star, “Renee, at 40, wants a baby as soon as possible, and that conflict has become their wedding roadblock.”

After Renee charmed his parents, Bradley gave her the green light to begin planning the nuptials, but “he’s suddenly downshifted,” the source says. “Bradley wants to wait a few more years to have a baby, while Renee is feeling pressure to conceive due to her age.”

“They had their first big argument in early January. Now Bradley is saying they need to sort out their differences before moving ahead. So, for the time being, they’re at a wedding stalemate.”

[From The National Enquirer, print edition, February 1, 2010]

I think some of the bigger factors in their “wedding stalemate” are probably: 1) Coop’s boyfriends, 2) Victor Garbor and 3) contract renegotiations. Isn’t it weird that this is the kind of story that makes me believe even more that The Zellweger and The Coop are just a PR relationship? But sure, I’ll play along. Renee wants a baby! Bradley doesn’t want one! Ugh. I actually think Bradley might be right, if this story is true. He’s going to be working a lot more in the years to come, and this probably isn’t the best time for him to start a family.

OMG he is not gay!!! She probably does want a baby her clock is a ticking….

  2. Phowie says:

Not Casa di Zell-Coop, Chez Brenee. They could easily this issue by harvesting and freezing some of her eggs to keep in the coop (pun intended).

  3. ogechi says:

    This story is not exciting?

  4. Maritza says:

I really don’t know what to believe. It could be a PR relationship, or not. I wouldn’t mind at all if he and Victor Garber were together, they do make a cute couple, the same goes with Renee. Oh dear, what a conundrum.

  5. canadianchick says:

Anyone else think he’s a lounge lizard and wanting his polyester suit back? He’s immature and fug and Renee could do better imo.

  6. CandyKay says:

Why would Renee need a PR relationship? She’s got a pretty well-established career as a semi-serious actress.

  7. wif says:

If babies were something Renee really wanted she could have done it by now, on her own. I doubt that she’s been waiting for the right man. She didn’t just fall into her movie career after all, she’s as ambitious as the next A-lister.

  8. lucy2 says:

Isn’t it sad that once again, a successful, Oscar winning actress who seems perfectly happy in her life is reduced to a baby crazy clingy girlfriend in the tabloids?

I’m not totally sold this is a real relationship anyway (I think his PR machine is working overtime these days) but even if it is, it’s fairly new still, right? It’s like after one date, the papers have them either engaged or pregnant, or fighting about one or the other. Insanity!

  9. wow says:

The press needs to come up with new stories about successful women because the whole “*insert famous actress name* is desperately wanting to have a kid by *insert random actor’s name” is so lame and beyond old.

Bradley Cooper is just a lot of agent hype to me and he should be grateful that any of these women like Renee or Jennifer Anniston gives him the time of day. He needs the publicity more than Renee would. She’s already established and has a succesful career along with an Oscar.

  10. LindyLou says:

Dude is totally gay! I would put money on it. Guaran-damn-teed!!

  11. Popcorny says:

Could this be the posturing of a contract-relationship headed for termination?

  12. lin234 says:

hmm The relationship does seem a bit off but since they are both relatively private for stars, I can hardly judge. If Renee wants a baby so badly, she has the money to have her eggs frozen and perhaps use someone else to carry a baby later on. With her money, anything is possible.

Besides, my gaydar is always off. I wonder what signs do you guys usually look for?

  13. Kim says:

Renee mentioned in an interview last year that kids are not in her future”Motherhood has never been my ambition” The tabloids always do this(Lie)about actresses over 35 w/ no kids. I think one did it to Cameron Diaz last year.

  14. Mackenzie says:

In her emaciated state I highly doubt she could conceive and carry a child anyway.

  15. lucy2 says:

@Kim, I totally agree! Because apparently it’s unacceptable for any woman to choose NOT to have children, or to wait until the time is right for them. I can’t imagine what it would be like to have something so personal on magazine covers.

  16. Cheyenne says:

@Kim: that’s what I thought. Zellweger has never been in a rush to have babies and I doubt Cooper got her bioclock ticking. Some women just don’t want children, and as long as they are upfront about that, there is not a thing wrong with it.

@mckenzie: If Nicole Richie, could do it, so can Zellweger. Richie looked like a skeleton when she conceived and carried her first child. Zellweger doesn’t look all that thin to me.

  17. coucou says:

When i saw his weird header photo, all i could think to myself was “oh please, don’t let him be Scientologist…”

  18. buckley says:

he looks totally coke’ed out in that picture above.

  19. vpifj says:

She is a proud childfree woman, so I doubt it’s true.

  20. Cinderella says:

Renee doesn’t seem like the baby-craving type. And Brad, well he and Victor Garber can always visit Violet.

  21. Sumodo says:

Renee doesn’t need a husband. She needs an eye lift and a solid starring vehicle. Geez!

  22. Raven says:

Was it Gawker that said anyone who dates Renee is clearly not gay, because she’s not that attractive, but anyone who marries her clearly is–and gives examples Kenny Chesney and Brad Cooper (who it predicts is “so going to propose”)?

  23. S.V. says:

I don’t care if Bradley is gay or straight, I think he’s hot.

  24. Camille says:

I find him so very, very unattractive (he’s got a kind of ‘rat face’ going on) and I don’t think he is of movie star leading man status in either looks or acting ability.
And as another poster has already mentioned I think Renee can do much, much better.

  25. uSheep says:

i always get bradley cooper and ryan reynolds confused.

  26. trashaddict says:

One, can you really blame him for not wanting to let her reproduce, and two, since when has being a father ever stopped a man from working if he wants to?

  27. Jane says:

I REALLY DONT WANT THEy BEING TOGETHER.BRAD!DONT MARRY HER.HOPE THIS REPORT IS TRUE

  28. Stan says:

Wow, imagine that, another article here calling a guy gay. What would Freud call that? Projection, perhaps?

In any event, I’ve never been a fan of Renee.. her face has always looked pinched, like she’s on the verge of tears. In fact I can’t stand to look at her. So I’m not crying over her lack of spawn running around the planet.
