Lindsay Lohan wants us to buy leggings… for Haiti!

lohan4

These are photos of Lindsay Lohan trying on clothes. This is not a photo shoot, to my knowledge. It’s just a series of casual photos that one of Lindsay’s friends must have taken of her as she tried on clothes. Always performing for the camera, yes? And how did we get our hands on these “private” or “personal” photos? Beats me. Someone released them. I suppose it could be worse.

Anyway, remember how Lindsay was crack-tweeting about Haiti, bless her heart? Well, Lindsay must have figured that the Haitian people could not live on her crack tweets alone, so she’s decided to donate the proceeds of part of her leggings line to Haitian relief efforts. And by that, I mean the sales of one particular pair of leggings (at $65) will go to Haiti relief. It’s actually not the worst scheme she’s come up with:

Lindsay Lohan is using her love for leggings for good! 100% of the proceeds from her 6126 Collection from Fame Leggings is being donated to Save the Children for relief in Haiti.

“It is truly horrible what has happened to the people and children in Haiti,” Lindsay said. “I believe every company should do their part to help by donating what they can.”

“Please help us do our part for the Children of Haiti by purchasing this 6126 legging,” she urged. “I am proud to announce that we are giving 100% of the proceeds to Haiti’s children through an organization I am passionate about, Save the Children.”

The leggings comes in Metallic silver and retails for $90, but for a limited time only is now $65.

Save the Children is the leading independent organization that’s creating lasting change in the lives of children in need in the United States and around the world.

Emergency relief distributions of food, water, water purification tablets, medical supplies and shelter material in Haiti are continuing on a daily basis.

Purchase Fame leggings to help these efforts continue at www.6126collection.com!

Because it’s Lindsay, I do have my doubts that the proceeds will even make it to Haiti, but I feel like a jerk for even mentioning that, because she’s kind of doing more about Haiti than me. So I’ll shut up.

In other Lindsay news, she now wants to host a talk show, allegedly. Her idea is to do something like The View, but for a “younger” audience. Oh. My. God. Could you imagine the endless drama if someone gave Lindsay her own talk show? First of all, she wouldn’t even be able to be professional enough to show up on time every day. But when she did show up, can you even imagine the crazy? According to various sources, Lindsay is about to “pilot the idea” and they “have a lot of interest”. What ever happened to that television project that Lindsay wrote? The one that Cash Warren was “interested” in?

Yeah, because nothing screams “Save the Children!” like a pair of silver metallic leggings in size crack-head. Just send your $65 to Red Cross or another REPUTABLE organisation.

  2. Kermit says:

Lindsay has been diligent and persistent in tweeting support for Haiti since the disaster. And one of the organizations mentioned by Lindsay as well as Ali is the Red Cross. The leggings sale’s proceeds is her way of supporting Haiti, a good thing IMO. The problem with the leggings is that they are only available in very small sizes.

Talk show? Lindsay denied it yesterday though Dina has been saying that Lindsay and Ali are doing it.

And, these pics? Whatever. Lindsay is brunette now and hasn’t been publicly photographed in about 4 days.

  3. Ruby Red Lips says:

Its all a PR stunt…Lindsay doesn’t give 2 hoots about anyone other than herself. Its just a way to clean up her public image. (saying that if it does help Haiti then thats all good, but as Bella said, send the money to red cross!)

@ Kermit, u are either v naive or being paid by the Lohan’s to support them!

  4. Kermit says:

Ruby Red Lips: paid by Lohan? LOL. I wouldn’t accept her or any Lohan’s money. Anyway, see her tweets for yourself @ twitter.com/lindsaylohan

Here’s a REAL tweet from her:

    # Please make a donation to The Red Cross today. If you’ve already made a donation please consider making another one. 2:55 PM Jan 24th from UberTwitter

Actually, Lindsay’s motivations don’t even matter. If she brings awareness and funds through her status as a public person, it helps Haiti.

  5. Praise St. Angie! says:

“Just send your $65 to Red Cross or another REPUTABLE organisation.”

    amen, bella.

and who the F would pay $65 for LEGGINGS?

and I’m shocked that anyone (outside of a blogger) would care enough to read her crack-tweets.

  6. TaylorB says:

I am more than happy to donate $65 to Haiti, but I must confess I wouldn’t want to be saddled with some horrid silver hooker leggings in the process. I must confess I have no idea what is going through LiLos mind, which is probably a good thing, but if she is sincere about helping then good for her… even if pimping her clothing line out to do so strikes me as a bit self serving. Just my opinion.

  7. Ruby Red Lips says:

@ Kermit – I agree that if she is actually raising money then that is good – I just don’t belive for a second that this is a selfless act. We all know she is trying to start 2010 with a good image and these ‘tweets’ obv correspond to this.

Actually her motivation does matter as she is taking credit & support away from a lot of genuine charities and organisations who struggle to make things better for many disaster striken areas and are better set to help in Haiti…

I just think it is wrong that a washed up, drugged out alcoholic tabloid fodder ex star, can suddenly be deemed saintly and can click her fingers as a public figure whereby 3 months ago was so publivly self entitled & such a mess.

@ Kermit, aside that she may raise some money, I guess I just don’t understand how you can defend her & support her ‘good & selfless acts’ knowing that it is not sincere …

  8. Bodhi says:

“Lindsay has been diligent and persistent in tweeting support for Haiti since the disaster”

I’m sure the Haitians would prefer tweets over, say, food & water

  9. hatsumomo says:

you know, when you hear of if you buy this product a portion will go to so-so charity? Did you know that they never mention how much? what they do donate a portion of profits are usually a few pennies for every ten bucks spent. Its astoundingly low. Most profits are kept and unless its a big continuous seller like kellogs breakfast cereal, what set set aside for donation isnt really that much.

  10. Tia C says:

GF needs to get over herself already. Everyone else already is!

  11. Novaraen says:

HA…just went to her site for the first time. I see she offers her leggings in sizes Coke wh@re, Tweeker, Meth-head, and Crackie.

  12. Kermit says:

100% of the proceeds according to 6126collection.com. The organization handling it is Save the Children. Says that right above in the article. Jessica Simpson is doing something similar with shoes. I never said Lindsay is being “selfless”, I said she has been persistent in tweeting about Haiti, and FWIW, she’s done quiet stuff behind the scenes with her time that few know about (since it is quiet). Bodhi, she is asking people to donate in multiple tweets. We can all speculate about her motivations, no one but her knows for sure. But her efforts are yielding results to some degree. Buying her leggings is an option to help Haiti if people are interested.

  13. Praise St. Angie! says:

“she’s done quiet stuff behind the scenes with her time that few know about”

    such as?

please, this girl loves the spotlight so much that WHATEVER she was doing for the people of Haiti, she’d be broadcasting it from the rooftops. she never does ANYTHING “quietly”, “behind the scenes” or without letting everyone know she’s doing it.

she posted pictures of herself TRYING ON CLOTHES, ffs…she’ll use any excuse to get her name in the news.

  14. Ruby Red Lips says:

@ Praise St Angie – i couldn’t have said it better myself!

@ Kermit – how are you prone to this ‘behind the scenes’ knowledge that nobody else knows about? – you either do work for her or you are making it up…

  15. snapdragon says:

she isn’t giving one red cent to anyone other than her drug dealer.

  16. piedlourde says:

Kermit, who the *beep* are you?

  17. Kermit says:

It is absolutely ludicrous to make any statements that I work for the Lohan’s. They don’t know me and I don’t know them and my work has nothing to do with anyone in Hollywood.

Another blog site carried a story of Unik Ernst, the founder of the non-profit organization Edeyo, having a fundraiser at billionaire Ron Burkle’s home. Lindsay and Ali Lohan were two of the attendants. Since the fundraiser a member of the organization stated that work from most of the attendants, including Lindsay and Ali, was continuing. This event wasn’t announced by Lindsay prior to it happening and only one blog was allowed in to report and take pics. After the event Lindsay tweeted a thank you to Ron Burkle.

Praise St. Angiel, unless you are around Lindsay 24/7, and know all of her thoughts, how in the world can you proclaim with such certainty what she does quietly vs. publicly? You perceive her to do everything publicly, but your perceptions are not reality.

  18. Chicken Tetrazzini says:

Wow, Lohan is Tweeting for Haiti. What a selfless individual! And how much money has she donated? I personally think that she’s using this to get people to buy her leggings. Think about it…they’ve been out for a while and I doubt they are selling well, so she’s got a bunch of unsold leggings taking up space somewhere, so she’ll dump them by selling them and saying she’ll donate the money to Haiti. I would demand proof of that because I would not be surprised if that money WAS a donation…to herself (and her drug dealer). I’d rather just donate the money I’d spend on hideous leggings to the Red Cross or something, because they are infinitely more trustworthy than a used-up, fading crackhead C-list celebrity.

Also, I don’t wanna sound so cynical, Lohan COULD really care, but she is a drug addict in the midst of addiction and they are very unpredictable, unstable and selfish, so I just don’t believe that the money would REALLY go anywhere but up her nose/in her arm.

  19. Praise St. Angie! says:

WOW, they “attended” a fund raiser?

I take back what I said, then.

    :EYE ROLL:

“unless you are around Lindsay 24/7, and know all of her thoughts, how in the world can you proclaim with such certainty what she does quietly vs. publicly?”

because she does EVERYTHING publicly. like arguing with her “girlfriend” on twitter.

like crying while on the phone – all the while ALSO very conveniently exposing yourself to the paps hanging nearby.

and posting pictures of yourself TRYING ON CLOTHES in a lace body stocking.

who the F posts pictures of themselves TRYING ON CLOTHES? (or “hiding” behind a clothes rack?!)

  20. oxa says:

Why not just donate the leggings to the Haitians or other people in need.

  21. jaundicemachine says:

    Actions speak louder than words.

And while it is impossible to determine an individual’s exact motivation for any given action – given a track record of increasingly self-serving behaviors it isn’t difficult to surmise a self-involved mindset.

I’m sure Lindsay isn’t a sadist (the majority of people of the world have an aversion to seeing others suffer), but this sudden bought of “altruism” coming from such an attention-driven, self-involved, selfish person. . . at best she’s trying to make herself feel better, at worst she’s using human suffering for publicity.

Perhaps if her actions indicated that she’s embracing sobriety/therapy, her “altruistic tweets” would carry more weight. But it’s easy to post sentiments online (and she does so – often), and it’s more difficult to volunteer time and money (as many others have). Donating the proceeds from a dying brand that just so happens to have her name on it? It seems lazy and insincere.

  22. Kermit says:

The event was $1000 a head. LL and AL then paid $2000. None of you know how much any of the Lohans have contributed to Haiti and how much of their time and effort. Regarding LL’s tweets, plenty of public stuff but not everything, and if you look at her older accounts, she has not suddenly discovered altruism. She’s been tweeting about charities and causes of all sorts for well over a year. The media feeds you what establishes an image of someone that brings interest to them. Responsible people look into things themselves THOROUGHLY and come to responsible conclusions based on more than selected data from media outlets.

Also, please keep in mind, that some of the ostensibly nastier people in all walks of life, some that engage in selfish actions or in predatory business practices, contribute heavily in charities and social causes with both money AND their time. People can be dualistic and paradoxical.

  23. Bodhi says:

Tweeting for Haiti… exactly. I’ll believe her altruism when I see it & not a second before

  24. Ruby Red Lips says:

@ Kermit – ok, so if you don’t work for the Lohan’s I think you must be a hardcore fan who follows everything she does religiously…not sure how healthy that is…

Also, Kermit, please dont dismiss the drug and alcohol and however many other issues she has as they are incredibly relevant and should not be forgotten.

This is what is wrong with our celeb culture, they are glamorizing drugs and Kermit with your positive backing of her, you are in effect helping to belittle the huge problem that drugs can have on individuals and family.

This is why I don’t think your positive statements of her are right.

  25. Kermit says:

Ruby Red: In the biggest context, Jessica has a shoe drive, Britney is selling a dress, many celebs have been tweeting asking their followers to donate to charities that support Haiti. Are they all sincere and moved? Who knows? Is Lindsay? I don’t know, but neither does anyone else.

Then there’s all of the talk about her motivations and such. CB could have ran a story on Britney’s dress or Jessica’s shoe drive. Or Selena Gomez’s continual positive contributions to charities and causes. And all of the media could run more stories on Lindsay’s interest in charities throughout the past 2 years. They tend to run the same stories with yield similar types of comments. But where are the insightful ones?

We know about Linday’s problems to some degree but I’m in the she has borderline personality disorder (BPD) camp and I have the same concerns with Lindsay that many have with Britney, who I don’t find as troubled, and Amy Winehouse, who I find to be gravely troubled. It isn’t about being their fan. It is looking at the reporting and the comments and being concerned and posting really to add a fuller and more balanced perspective. The nature of these sites is to have fun and play around with rumors. But when it comes to someone as ill as Lindsay Lohan, we have to be careful and responsible IMO.

  26. snapdragon says:

“Why not just donate the leggings to the Haitians or other people in need.”

haven’t those poor people suffered enough?

  27. Ruby Red Lips says:

Kermit, Britney reportedly has bipolar disorder and allegedly a personality disorder – I am not an expert so I do not know for sure, but for Britney to be placed under conservatorship for this long would imply that she has severe mental illness.

Lindsay on the otherhand, may very well have a disorder, but I am more convinced that the numerous years of heavy drug taking probably have resulted in a mental illness if indeed she has a disorder. (same with Amy Winehouse, heavy drug addict -all sorts of behavioural issues)

Excessive drug taking – to the extent that Lindsay has – is not w/o consequence, mental illness being one of them.

IMO by being ‘careful & responsible’ in media reporting around Lindsay in this way, is only helping hide her real issues – that should not be forgotten or pushed under the rug, especially as young impressionable girls look up to her and want to be just like her. The truth about her drug & alcohol abuse should be out there for people to be aware of, until she does recover (if ever) to warn young people of the pitfulls…

  28. Roberta says:

Lindsay Lohan doesn’t like fat people. Her Fame leggings only come in sizes 0,1,2 or 3. So I couldn’t purchase them if I wanted to. Heh.

  29. kermit says:

Ruby Red: If you go to google and type in Lindsay Lohan, Britney Spears, Amy Winehouse, Courtney Love, Angelina Jolie, Heather Mills and then bor, you’ll see google fill in borderline personality disorder. Several of the sites listed from the search make strong arguments for each of these celebs having the disorder. Lindsay actually fits in more of the bullet points for the diagnosis than most. Drug and alcohol addiction is a severe problem with Lindsay but her underlying problem is her BPD. There are many leads to professional assessment of psychologists on sites listed and on some sites their diagnosis is supported by readers that have BPD.

  30. TaylorB says:

    Kermit,

Only a person who is actually treating Lindsay is qualified to diagnose her. All of these so called ‘experts’ that claim she has BPD without ever seeing her as a patient need to be careful. There is a reason I never give any diagnosis on line, or over the phone without seeing the animal in question, it is speculative, irresponsible and dangerous at worst.

Now her drug and alcohol use is well documented, so that isn’t exactly speculation.

  31. kermit says:

Taylor: Fair points, thanks. I think psychologist here make a case for a disorder without actually diagnosing it as a certainty. My major point is her substance abuse is part of a bigger picture. So add cutting (self mutilation), confused sexual identity, afraid of being alone, rejection sensitivity, unable to control emotions, suicide threats into Lindsay’s overall behavior. Any alone may not point to BPD, but so many together do.

  32. Ruby Red Lips says:

Kermit, I would still argue that her underlying problem is the drugs and alcohol abuse.

I’m sure there are just as many ‘experts’ out there who would state that excess drugs cause all sorts of personality disorders which is prob the case in Lindsay if she does indeed suffer from this

Taylor B, good point, only a person who has seen/diagnosed Lindsay can successfully argue that she has a BPD – not random people on the web.

Also can I point out that if you type in symptons of the common cold onto reputable sites, you can self-diagnose terrible ailments – my point being (again) only the person treating the patient can make the diagnosis & as far as I am aware you have not.

I feel you are excusing her drug & alcohol intake by using the BPD argument – unless this is a proven fact (which it is not) then you are being irresponsible by downplaying the dangerous and far reaching side effects of her substance abuse

  33. Ruby Red Lips says:

Also Kermit, surely responsible reporting would be to use Lindsay and the like to explain the consequences of drug abuse, not pass it all off as a justification for an alleged personality disorder…Is this not just excusing drug abuse and its consequences?

I don’t believe for a second that all the celeb drug user have pre-existing BPD’s – that would just be very convienient.

  34. jaundicemachine says:

Furthermore, Borderline Personality Disorder and Bipolar One Disorder are as statistically rare as Schizophrenia and Geniuses. A very, very small percentage of people around the world are afflicted with such disorders -it’s laughable that the majority of whom allegedly populate Hollywood.

That’s not to say Lindsay’s behavior isn’t deeply disturbing. The self-harm, the need to be the center of attention, the arbitrary inferences, medicating with drugs and alcohol – all of which indicates a low self-worth and a propensity towards depression.

Now I know Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) isn’t nearly as “sexy” or “salacious” as BPD or BPI, but it is every bit as serious. My family and I know firsthand the devastation of untreated MDD.

The bottom line is no one is qualified to diagnose LiLo but a trained professional who is treating Lindsay, but her behavior is not unlike many young adults suffering from depressive episodes (albeit with more money and more enablers, as well as media attention to exacerbate the situation).

If she were to be diagnosed with MDD, it can be treated privately with a number of medications and therapies – BPD cannot. It is alarmist and dangerous to tout her as a poster child for such a rare and pervasive illness, and such alarmist claims are fitting with that “irresponsible media” you purport to dislike.

  35. kermit says:

Ruby Red: all I can say is take away the substance abuse from Lindsay and she’ll still exhibit serious issues. Also, substance abuse is a bullet point in Cluster B personality disorders. As for rarity, it’s 1 to 3 percent of the population but diagnosis is growing. BPD accounts for 20 percent of those in mental hospitals. I had extensive experience with someone who was diagnosed with BPD. They weren’t doing drugs when I knew them but they did previously in their lives. They caused lots of disruptions and had to leave as a participant/contributor in the workshop.

But I’ll not get hung up on BPD or ERPD or MDD. Some think it is bad behavior made worse by substance abuse or as a result of substance abuse. Others attribute much of Lindsay’s behavior to a mental disorder of some sort and the alcoholism/substance abuse is part of her illness. This isn’t about excusing anything about her behavior, it’s more recognizing the complexities of it and also weighing her parents treatment of her into it as well. I can’t really add anything else beyond this–in other forums that discuss disorders, people tend to side with Lindsay displaying traits of someone with BPD.

  36. CB Rawks says:

Kermit, how would you know when Lindsay was last photographed? Do you follow her everywhere, hiding from tree to tree? Are you perhaps dressed like a tree?
At any rate, you are both disturbed and disturbing. I hope for Lindsay’s sake she doesn’t somehow *disappoint* you one day.

  37. badhorse says:

There she goes again sticking her fingers in her mouth. Someone told her it was sexy?
