Oh, King Charles & Camilla just spent three days at their favorite Indian spa

Before King Charles and Camilla’s Australian and Samoan tours, Buckingham Palace made a point of briefing friendly outlets about Charles’s plan to pause his cancer treatments while he was abroad. Since he was diagnosed with cancer in February, Charles has weekly visits to the hospital (or doctor’s office, I don’t know) for his “cancer treatments.” The palace has actually never said that the treatments are chemotherapy, btw. We also know that they’re not saying Charles is cancer-free, and his treatment course seems somewhat open-ended. There were so many concerns about Charles’s health during the tour that he traveled with two real doctors the entire time. Post-tour, the conversation is that Camilla is “terrified” about Charles’s health, and the medical team thinks the palace has jumped the gun by announcing that Charles wants to travel more in 2025. Well, here’s more weirdness: apparently, Charles and Camilla are only coming back to the UK right now. After Samoa, they stopped in India for three days to stay at that spa.

The King has enjoyed a ‘blissful’ Indian spa break on the way home from his gruelling tour of Australia and Samoa. The 75-year-old monarch has just spent three days at the exclusive SOUKYA resort, famed for its yoga and wellness programmes and Ayurvedic treatments.

The Mail understands that His Majesty decided to break up the punishing 35-hour journey back from from the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in the South Pacific with a mini-break with his wife, Queen Camilla. She also visited the exclusive £3,000-a-week resort in Bangalore on her way out to Sydney for the start of their 11-day, 30,000 mile round odyssey.

The renowned holistic centre has a raft of celebrity clientele, attracting the likes of Dame Emma Thompson and the late Archbishop Desmond Tutu. Soukya is run by Dr Issac Mathai, who has been His Majesty’s holistic health consultant for decades. He has previously revealed the royals as ‘the least demanding of my guests’.

Their King and Queen’s days have started with morning yoga sessions followed by breakfast and rejuvenation treatments before a healthy vegetarian lunch. A second round of therapies follows the mid-day meal ending with a meditation session before dinner and lights out by 9pm. It is important to stress that the stay and therapies have no connection to the King’s ongoing cancer treatment.

Sources say it was simply a chance for Charles to rest and reset following a punishing trip abroad.

[From The Daily Mail]

I saw some people questioning how Charles could stop by this spa for several days instead of rushing back for his cancer treatments. For what it’s worth, I think the timeline ensures that he technically only missed one week of treatment. He had a treatment two weeks ago, mid-week before he left for the tour, and if he arrived back in the UK yesterday or today, he likely will have his treatment this week. He’s been getting them mid-week throughout the year, usually on a Tuesday or Wednesday. Now, that being said… it’s definitely weird that they stopped into this spa for three days and no one knew until now. What about the rota traveling with them? What really happens at this spa, because it sort of looks like Camilla needs to be dried out before and AFTER tours?

  1. Rest from what he barely did anything on tour ten minutes here maybe twenty minutes there and he needed a spa trip from”working”? What a load of malarkey.

  2. Ciotog says:

I did a long work trip abroad this summer and stayed at a spa hotel afterwards for some rest and relaxation, so this is honestly the most relatable I’ve ever found Chuckles.

  3. Jais says:

So the rota did not travel in the same plane as the royals this time. It was actually a marked departure. Every rota member had to make their own travel plans to get to and from Australia, paid for by their paper or itv or whatever. I saw a clip of I believe Chris ship and maybe Russel Meyers talking about it.

    • Amy Bee says:

We’ve got an answer as to why the royal rota didn’t travel with Charles and Camilla. It’s because they weren’t going straight home.

      • Jais says:

Yep and I bet the rota was annoyed to book their own flights😂. I’m thinking riding along on the plane is one of the perks and trade-offs for all the sycophancy.

  4. Amy Bee says:

Where’s press outrage that the Palace didn’t tell the press that the King and Queen were going to take a detour to India and that they’ve gone to a luxury spa?

    • LRB says:

So the King can slip in and out of India, but couldn’t either go to California or slip into Canada and meet Harry, Archie and Lilibet there? I suspect Meghan never wants to see him again, but would let Harry take the children somewhere neutral to meet their grandfather.

  5. Chloe says:

Didn’t camilla go to an indian spa before this tour even started?

  6. Badgerette says:

Yoga?! How dare they! I guess only meg gets hassled for yoga. Sigh.

  7. Alicky says:

A “punishing “ trip? It’s not like they flew there flapping their arms.

    • HuffnPuff says:

The use of the word “punishing” is insulting. You’d think they flew economy and stayed in motels the whole time. Not to mention it is insulting to Australia. “Sorry to have put you and the missus out.” I know bro has cancer and is old but whatever happened to never complain, never explain?

    • BeanieBean says:

Right? They don’t have to get to the airport three hours early, stand in line to check in, stand in line to go through security, takes shoes off & so on, walk to the gate, wait, get on the plane, put their bags in the overhead, etc., etc., etc. And the ‘grueling’ ‘work’? Church, ten minutes to meet people then skip lunch organized for you, some political stuff where he got righteously yelled at, then…oh, right, fly to Samoa, sit on some large golden throne to snicker at people performing for just him, then, let’s see, go to the airport & shake some more hands before walking allllll the way up those stairs! My, how grueling!

  8. Tessa says:

Imagine the trashing harry and Meghan would get if they did this.

    • HuffnPuff says:

Absolutely. And the Sussexes are self funded. They aren’t taking money from the people to use on frivolities like that.

  9. Nano says:

So instead of going home to get cancer treatments that had been halted he goes to a spa. What is really going on with this guy? Did his “concerned” wife manipulate him into this?

  10. Catherine says:

The fact that they only reported this after it was reported in Indian press makes it all the more suspect. Also. Bitter Becky English Initially tried to claim that they flew commercial to India when everyone knows that Charles doesn’t fly commercial EVER. He most likely was on the RAF jet that they fly in regularly. Remember when Harry didn’t fly back to the UK after his tour of the Caribbean but instead flew to Canada to see Meghan. The tabloids claimed it was a violation of protocol, inappropriate etc. etc. etc. to travel for personal reasons immediately after an official tour even though he actually did fly commercial. The protocol lies started even before Meghan married Harry. In general, I don’t have a problem with them having some personal down time in India. He looked exhausted and Ill at times. It’s the subterfuge that’s problematic.

    • Jais says:

Oh yeah, the rota might be mad. Becky English acted like she had some exclusive but they only knew about it bc the Indian press reported the plane being there.

  11. HuffnPuff says:

The more I see KFC, the more I understand that he doesn’t want his job. He wants the trappings of it but the rest of it? Nope. Neither does Huevo. They have to keep talking about what they are going to do as a way to psyche themselves up but it’s clear to me that neither one wants the actual job.
