Chloë Grace Moretz comes out as gay in early voting post endorsing Kamala Harris

I don’t usually go for the sportsball metaphors, but we’re in the home stretch of the election. A lot of celebrity endorsements have been coming in for VP Kamala Harris in these last few days. I don’t know what the calculus is on how much they help, but it feels like a big deal when Harrison Ford, who loathes doing press, feels compelled to make his personal, political views public. Another thing I appreciate with the latest string of endorsements for Harris is that people are clearly saying why they’re voting for her. This weekend, actress Chloë Grace Moretz showed off her “I Voted Early” sticker on Instagram, in a post where she said she voted Democratic because she supports bodily autonomy for women and legal protections for “the LGBTQ+ community as a gay woman.” Congrats on coming out, Chloë!

Chloë Grace Moretz has come out as a “gay woman,” while also endorsing Kamala Harris.

The actress took to her Instagram on Friday to announce that she “voted early” and voted for Democratic presidential candidate Harris for the 2024 election. She also shared a photo of an “I Voted Early” sticker on her jeans.

“There is so much on the line this election,” she continued. “I believe the government has no right over my body as a woman, and that the decisions over my body should come ONLY from myself and my doctor. Kamala Harris will protect that for us.”

In her post, Moretz also opened up about her sexuality, adding that she believes “in the need for legal protections that protect the LGBTQ+ community as a gay woman. We need protections in this country and to have access to the care we need and deserve.”

The Kick-Ass actress concluded by urging her more than 24 million Instagram followers to vote early and to “get a plan together to get to your polling place with your friends. Go to IWillVote.com to figure out the best plan for you.”

While this is the first time Moretz has publicly revealed her sexual orientation, she has been rumored to be romantically linked to model Kate Harrison since 2018, when they were seen sharing a kiss outside Nobu in Malibu, California. The pair have since made multiple appearances on each other’s Instagram pages. The Carrie actress previously dated Brooklyn Beckham.

This was such a boss way for Chloë to come out! I’m sure that even in 2024, Chloë had plenty of people on her team (managers, agents, etc) advising her not to do it. But this election is too important to stay in the shadows. Chloë being honest with her fans about who she is, and what’s on the line for her personally if the other guy gets back in, those are acts of candor and bravery that will resonate. Thank you, Chloë. And the site she mentioned in her post, IWillVote.com, is a great resource to check on the status of your ballot or firm up your voting plan. Which there is still time to do!

Like Chloë, I also partook over the weekend. I prefer a hybrid method of getting a mail-in ballot so I can fill it out at home, and then I go to my poll site for the satisfaction of putting it in the ballot box in person. So that’s what I did on Saturday, taking my three-year-old rescue pup My Guy with me for the drop off, which he was very excited about as this is his first presidential election. We haven’t directly discussed politics, but I get super liberal vibes from him, unlike my dearly-departed dog My Girl who I’m pretty sure was independent. She always kept things close to the chest.

photo note by Celebitchy: It looks like Chloe is wearing an engagement ring! There has been speculation since earlier this year that she could be engaged to Kate Harrison.

So much love to Chloe and all celebs taking a stand. But this feels especially relevant. This is what guy like the Penn State dude bro are terrified of. Beautiful women being their true selves and dating other beautiful women.

You are so right about that! The patriarchy and those who uphold it have many believing that they their view is the only way. That they are all knowing and we as women need them to “protect us.” We don’t need anything but equality and to be left to our own choices. Let’s hand things over to the matriarchy now to lead.

It is well past time for the matriarchy (which, IMO, should not be a scary thing for men, because most of us want men to feel empowered; it’s the unempowered men who scare women).

Good for Chloe. I assumed that she was already out and am happy that she used her voice to GOTV. I saw Demi Lovato shared that she voted for Harris-Walz too. And the Avengers got back together to share they’re endorsing the ticket as well.

    Let’s keep pressing y’all!
    All gas NO breaks!

I’ve never been on board with the idea of ‘coming out’ as being revolutionary, especially for celebrities. Too many famous people have used sexuality as a stunt (Demi Lovato), gay baiting (Harry Styles), or edginess (the list is long). I’m over it.

Celebrities coming out will never be old hat. I would much prefer that to them feeling like they had to closet in another era. If’s unfortunate if some people have used that for dubious reasons in the past, but many have done so at great personal and professional peril and been inspiring with their courage and openmess. It means a lot to folks living in parta of the country and world where they don’t feel support or have helpful resources, to know they are not alone is a huge gift. Excited for Chloe that she can live authentically out in the open.

Aw My Guy’s first vote! I love the stories from people voting with friends or making it a date with their spouse, or six FB friends they rounded up to make sure they get to the polls. We’re going to need all of the support and furry snuggles over the next two days. 💙💙💙🐕💙💙💙

My Girl sounds like she would’ve been my kinda girl lol

My cat Dexter is totally liberal and very all about his feelings and doing the most. My husband’s cat Buffy is conservative and salty AF just like her father.

I recently finished the series Peripheral and was reminded of what a good actress she is. Plus her features are symmetrical and beautiful but she still manages to stand out somehow. If she feels this is a meaningful way to use her celebrity then I don’t disagree

    Gawrsh…. She’s sure purddddyyyyy…. 🤗

Enty has been correct about her sexuality for years now.
I wonder what the Beckham’s think of this reveal…
I think that she is a really good actress!
