Joshua Jackson lost his Topanga Canyon home of 24 years in the Palisades fire

Joshua Jackson lost his home of 24 years in the Palisades fire. I’ve always considered Joshua to be pretty smart about his money, and he’s worked in all kinds of television shows over the years, and some films. He found a place he liked in Topanga Canyon back when he was on Dawson’s Creek, and he lived there since his early 20s, through two longterm partnerships/marriages. I cannot even imagine how much he lost in the fire:

Joshua Jackson is one of hundreds to lose his home in the ongoing Palisades Fire. The Doctor Odyssey actor’s rep confirmed to Deadline that his Topanga Canyon home, which he purchased in 2001, was destroyed over the weekend in the Southern California wildfires, which have destroyed thousands of structures.

“First and most importantly, all the people closest to me affected by the fire are ok. My daughter, my family, my neighbors all made it out safely,” said Jackson in a statement. “Sadly my beautiful home did not survive the fires. But today, I feel incredibly lucky to be surrounded by the people I love.”

[From Deadline]

Heartbroken for him and everyone else affected. I’m glad he, his daughter and his neighbors were able to evacuate in time. Jodie Turner Smith recently filed for spousal support from Joshua, and she’s spoken a lot about how she’s saving up for a home in LA. It looks like both exes are going to need to rethink where they go from here.

It’s more than that, that was his childhood home. He bought it after his parents divorced and sold it.

oh man that makes it even sadder 🙁

    • Lady Rae says:

I read the it was his childhood home too. After his parents divorced he moved to Canada when he was a child and when he was able to afford it he bought the home.

    This is so sad.

  3. Harla says:

I lived in Topanga Cyn for a number of years, it was such a magical, untamed place! My heart goes out to all who’ve been affected by this disaster ❤️

  4. HillaryIsAlwaysRight says:

He can move in with me. I have a husband and kids, but it’s fine. We’ll work it out.

  5. Chaine says:

I feel bad for him, but he can afford to rebuild. The real victims are all of these ordinary families that have had their fire insurance cancelled and now real estate investment vultures are circling around their land.

    • Marigold says:

Is it really so hard to say you feel bad and leave it at that? He’s not out here with a Go Fund Me, he’s not asking for support, he’s not saying he can’t afford to build or buy another home. I feel like we’re constantly hearing “but” about celebrities losing their homes in these fires. Everyone gets it: they have money and aren’t going to suffer like others. We know.

      • Normades says:

I agree @marigold we can also have empathy for rich peeps because they are human and have feelings too. Incredible loss for Josh.

      • Lucy2 says:

I agree – this loss is painful, traumatic, and devastating for everyone going through it.
Some have more resources and the recovery will be easier for them, but right now, anyone looking at rubble where their home and community once was has my sympathy.

    • Bedazzled says:

I don’t mind articles about celebrities who’ve lost their homes because they will help keep public attention on the fires. So far, I’ve donated to World Central Kitchen, the Red Cross of LA, and California Community Foundation because of these types of articles.
