Tom Holland’s dad calls him ‘incredibly well prepared’ for his proposal to Zendaya

It’s been a week since the news of Tom Holland and Zendaya’s engagement went public. Although Zendaya and Tom have always kept the more personal details of their relationship private, we’ve gotten bits and pieces of behind-the-scenes information. For example, last week, we found out that they got matching tattoos of each other’s initials over Thanksgiving. Tom’s dad, actor/comedian Dominic Holland has a Patreon page. On Friday, he wrote a post sharing some more details about their engagement. Just as we all suspected, Tom put a lot of thought and planning into his proposal so that he was “incredibly well prepared” for the big moment. He’d gotten her father’s blessing, planned out the location and date, thought about what to say in advance, and even had an outfit picked out.

At this point, the Spider-Man actor’s dad Dominic Holland is sure of it. After the couple’s engagement was confirmed following Zendaya debuting her ring at the 2025 Golden Globes, the comedian shared why he feels they can handle the public pressure.

“I do fret that their combined stardom will amplify their spotlight and the commensurate demands on them,” Dominic penned in a Jan. 10 Patreon post, “and yet they continually confound me by handling everything with aplomb.”

Indeed, the 57-year-old—who shares Tom, 28 as well as brothers Harry and Sam, both 25, and Paddy, 20, with wife Nikki Holland—feels he has given his eldest an easy-enough blueprint to follow with his own 30-year marriage.

“Even though show-business is a messy place for relationships and particularly so for famous couples as they crash and burn in public and are too numerous to mention, with us an example, with Nikki helming this family and my ‘wisdom’ on tap and a study in getting things mostly wrong and yet somehow right at the same time,” Dominic posited, “I am completely confident they will make a successful union.”

Amid his optimism for their upcoming nuptials, Dominic also shared insight into just how meticulous Tom was when it came to planning his and Zendaya’s engagement, emphasizing that his son was “very incredibly well prepared.”

“He had purchased a ring,” Dominic explained. “He had spoken with her father and gained permission to propose to his daughter. Tom had everything planned out… When, where, how, what to say, what to wear…”

And while Tom and Zendaya have yet to speak out about their engagement themselves, Zendaya has put her 5-carat ring on full display on several occasions in the last week. When the 28-year-old actress was asked about the engagement directly during the Golden Globes ceremony, she merely shrugged and coyly smiled.

It sounds like Tom had everything planned down to the minute. That’s so endearing and although we don’t really know what Tom is like in private, his public energy screams “I’m a planner!” so it doesn’t surprise me that he put so much thought into giving Zendaya an incredible proposal experience. He was taking no chances, and I don’t blame him. I hope they share more about it one day, but I also completely understand if they want to keep those details private. As for his dad sharing all of this on a Patreon page, ehhh. I’m sure T&Z gave him their approval before he did it. This way, the public gets a little bit of scraps to feast on from credible sources and hopefully leaves them alone.

Smart guy. If you plan to propose to THE Zendaya, you plan it down to the most insignificant detail!

I love what his father said about his own family being a model for a happy long marriage. I’ve always observed the opposite that those of us who are products of bad marriages take marriage much more seriously than our parents, but a loving home is a wonderful thing and great to have that as a model.

I didn’t know that was his Dad!!!! 🤣🤣

That’s hilarious, he’s quite well known in Britain and I never knew! Now I see it, I SEE it
