Zuzu, the dog Paris Hilton fostered from the LA wildfires, is back with her family

Paris Hilton shared a couple weeks ago that she was fostering a dog named Zuzu from the Pasadena Humane Society. Zuzu’s family lost their home in the LA wildfires, and had made the difficult decision to surrender her to PHS so she could be cared for properly while they figured out how to resettle. Paris also lost her home in the fires, but she has more means than most, and has spent time volunteering and shining a light on organizations like PHS. The minute I saw Zuzu I thought, “Oh, she’s gonna be a foster fail.” I mean look at her, she’s a knockout. But good news — Zuzu’s family got themselves set up well enough to welcome her back home! Paris posted a video on Instagram of the reunion and, well, all I can say is make sure you have your tissue box handy. And watch the tail!

“Letting go is never easy, but moments like this remind me why fostering is so important 🥹🐶🐾❤️,” Hilton captioned the post. “Zuzu came into my life during one of the most heartbreaking times, and she was truly a beacon of hope. Saying goodbye to her was so hard, but seeing her family’s faces when they arrived to bring her home made it all worth it. 🥰🏡✨.”

“The love between Zuzu and her family is so special, and I’m so happy they’re reunited after everything they’ve been through. 💕,” Hilton wrote.

Hilton thanked the Pasadena Humane Society for facilitating the fostering, and said she “can’t wait to foster again.”

In the touching video, Hilton welcomed Zuzu’s owners into her home. The mother and son eagerly greeted their dog as Hilton said how sweet the dog was during their time together.

The woman thanked Hilton for her generosity. “I love her so much. She’s such a little angel,” Hilton replied.

“You helped save her,” the woman responded. Hilton immediately went to hug her and express her sympathy to the family after they lost their home in Altadena, Calif. “Just making my son’s whole week that he gets to have his dog back!”

Hilton then revealed that she had Zuzu groomed the day before and that the dog had been enjoying movie night in Hilton’s bed with her and her husband, Carter Reum.

“I really really appreciate it,” the woman told Hilton, adding, “My other son is excited to see her.”

As Hilton said goodbye, she told Zuzu that she would always be her “sliving mom,” and then told the family she has gifts for them too

“Oh my god! What Paris?! That’s amazing,” the woman said. “Oh my gosh, I don’t know what to say. Thank you. Thank you so much.”

As they said their goodbyes, Hilton confirmed she hopes to foster again — and wants to set up a dog playdate with Zuzu and her four dogs.

Watching the video, did you see Zuzu’s tail whipping around when she was back in her person’s arms?! The tail never lies, and that tail screamed LOVE. It takes a big heart to foster, and I appreciate Paris so much for highlighting Zuzu’s story as a way to encourage others to foster the many displaced animals in Southern California. PHS has taken in over 1,000 animals, and they need the help. It was also just plain sweet when Paris asked to schedule playdates, which I expect to see documentation of! And on that note, now that Zuzu had about two weeks vacation with Paris Hilton, she should totally write a tell-all (woof-all?) book, right? Living In the Pink with Paris Hilton: Zuzu’s tail of seeing how the other half lives, only the seeing doesn’t include pink because I’m a dog and can’t see that color. But don’t sign away 100% of the film rights just yet, Zuzu — Hollywood will get back up on its paws and you deserve your fair share!

One last thing: I don’t know where Paris was staying in this video, but the foyer we saw was fully furnished, complete with a portrait of… Paris Hilton. That has to go in the manuscript, Zuzu.

That’s her house. The one that got burned down is her beach house, not her main house.

That cute little doggie was so happy to be reunited with her family. It’s nice of Paris to support PHS, and to have fostered Zuzu.

The portrait though? Bit much, especially where it’s placed, right next to the door.

(Full disclosure: my parents have a cute oil pastel drawing of little me, aged nine, painted by an artist friend of theirs, on a wall in their office at home)

I think at this point I am just happy to see any act of kindness from anyone who is wealthy and powerful. I am glad that the pup is back with her family. I hope they and all of the other thousands of people get help and support .💙

What a timeline we are living in when we look to Paris Hilton for heartwarming stories of humanity. I’ve really seen her in a different light lately with stories like this and her advocacy for victims of abuse.

That boy went straight for his Zuzu. So sweet. And kudos to Paris and all foster humans who help these animals get back to their forever families!

Paris did good so I’m more than willing to give her a pass on the portrait. 🙂
