Jennifer Lopez ‘is starting to feel like herself again’ after divorcing Ben Affleck

Jennifer Lopez made a somewhat surprise appearance at the Grammys, although she wasn’t part of a huge conversation. She was a presenter, and she ended up giving Shakira a Grammy and it was a nice moment. There were a few cutaways to J.Lo in the audience, but mostly, people were focused on Taylor Swift, Beyonce and other artists. Still, it was nice to see Jennifer out, and she’s been out a lot in recent months. After she filed for divorce from Ben Affleck, J.Lo has been really active and outside – she’s been booking jobs, promoting her projects and attending lots of events and film festivals. Sources tell Us Weekly that she’s turned the page on the Affleck BS.

Jennifer Lopez is feeling better than ever one month after finalizing her divorce from Ben Affleck.

“J.Lo is starting to feel like herself again. She’s making sure she is happy and that she’s being a good mom,” a friend of the pop star, 55, exclusively shares in the latest issue of Us Weekly, referring to Lopez and her ex-husband Marc Anthony’s 16-year-old twins, Emme and Max.

According to the friend, work has been a “good distraction” for Lopez over the past several months. Among her upcoming list of projects is the movie musical adaptation of Kiss of the Spider Woman, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival on January 26.

“I’ve been waiting for this moment my whole life. The reason I even wanted to be in this business is because my mom would sit me in front of the TV and [West Side Story] would come on once a year,” she said at the festival, which was attended by Us. “I remember I was mesmerized and was like, ‘That’s what I want to do.’ That was always my goal. This is the first time I actually got to do it. This man made my dream come true!”

In the latest issue of Us, an eyewitness at the festival says Lopez “look[ed] beautiful” at the film’s screening, adding, “Jennifer is the highlight of the film … [there were] multiple applause breaks after performances and a standing ovation. If she gets an Oscar nod [next year], it won’t be a shock.”

Lopez’s friend, meanwhile, tells Us that it was the actress’ “dream” to star in the film. “She really thinks it’s her best performance,” they share. “She also has a couple of other projects in the works, but she’s being selective. This is all about quality over quantity. … She’s been focusing on herself and feels beautiful.”

For now, Lopez is continuing to keep her focus on her work life and not her love life. “[She] isn’t ready to date again just yet,” the friend tells Us. “She still believes in love. She is a romantic and always will be.”

This is by far the best post-divorce strategy for Jennifer or any person: stay booked and busy, focus on your own family and life, don’t go into hiding, promote your work. This reads like some advance work on Jennifer’s Oscar campaign too. She got great reviews for Kiss of the Spider Woman in Sundance, but we’ll see what the reaction is in the fall, or whenever the film comes out. Considering the Academy blanked her for Hustlers, I have my doubts that they’ll have anything to say about this new film.

Has the woman ever been celibate more than a month? Sort of looks like she needs to have a partner to feel validated? Am I being judgemental? Maybe, would not trade my calm, quiet and somewhat boring life for hers – or any celebrity for that matter! Being scrutinized and followed continually, no thanks. Go find yourself, learn how to genuinely love yourself so you don’t NEED to be validated by a partner – but rather, you want to share life with a partner…

    • Polly says:

It’s judgemental yes. Not all the cliches are true. You don’t need to love yourself before someone can love you. You can truly find yourself even in a long term or committed relationship. In her line of work, it’s probably difficult to NOT meet people she’s attracted to. We don’t know her. But we sure do like to slag her to make ourselves feel better!

We heal in relationship and connection, yes. But that does NOT mean the relationships have to be romantic or ‘partnered’.

  2. Pret says:

Work is a good distraction? How about spending time with your kids and being the good mom you promised to be when you canceled your tour? JLo is self-defined by her relationships and whatever project she’s promoting so the idea that there is a ‘real self’ to get back to is somewhat confusing.

I still think she will end up with Kevin Costner, They deserve each other.

Just watched the 2nd episode of
the newest Diddy docuseries. Jennifer was his girlfriend but Diddy was not “single” at that time…… She knew it, the press knew it, the babies mama saw it. I don’t follow the hip hop scenes & JLo, so I presumed they were both single when they get together & broke up after the Night Club shooting. (Ignorant me.)

  5. SarahCS says:

Has her makeup been massively switched up or has something else changed with her face? I almost didn’t recognise her in the spider dress and the stills from the Grammy’s don’t look 100% like her either to me.

  6. Granger says:

If we’re not reading about her new relationship within six months, I’ll be shocked.

    • Deborah says:

She really does have an after breakup M.O. I keep rooting for her, she starts feeling good and looking good and then she hooks up and two months later she’s announcing that she’s found her one true love.

  7. UpIn Toronto says:

Why does her Grammys dress remind me of an exploding zit or blackhead….ugh, it’s all I see. I wish the skirt were pink or blue or any other color than that
