Conservatives are mad that Sesame Street posted in support of Pride month

Every year, companies, sports teams, and other brands offer up their support for their LGBTQ+ patrons. Sadly, some of them showed their true color (green) when they bent the knee to Trump back in January to end their inclusive policies and kick the DEI boogeyman out at his autopenned behest. One entity that has always tried to be on the right side of history is Sesame Street. In celebration of Pride month, the show Tweeted out a message declaring that “everyone is welcome” on Sesame Street along with a picture of different characters holding hands to form a rainbow. Naturally, little right wing snowflakes were very triggered.

“Sesame Street” prompted a proper meltdown among conservatives with its social media post marking Pride month.

“On our street, everyone is welcome,” the beloved show captioned a rainbow-colored image of its characters’ arms holding hands that it shared on X, formerly Twitter, in honor of June’s recognition of the LGBTQ+ community.

“Together, let’s build a world where every person and family feels loved and respected for who they are,” the kids’ favorite program added.

While the post was praised by many for its inclusive messaging, right-wingers thoroughly flipped out and baselessly accused the show of “grooming” children.

One commenter fumed: “This is why my grandson won’t be watching you. I grew up with Sesame Street in the 70’s, before it was woke. So sad that you had to ruin a good thing.”

Another ranted: “Nothing to see here: just a publicly funded puppet show promoting weird sex stuff to your three-year-old.”

The show has shared a similar message marking Pride over the last few years and faced equal backlash each time.

A Pride-promoting post from the NFL’s New England Patriots prompted the same kind of response this weekend, too.

I have some bad news for those complaining that Sesame Street has gone woke. Sesame Street has been ‘woke’ since the beginning. It takes place in a multicultural urban setting and uses a cast of diverse actors and puppets to tackle social issues and teach inclusivity. It has always been this way. They just didn’t have right wing media telling them that acknowledging that minorities and queer people exist somehow makes white straight people victims. Do they not remember being mad at Big Bird for promoting the Covid vaccine or cheering on Larry David’s assault on Elmo for promoting mental health? (Which they’re always telling us is the only thing that can stop gun violence.) I guess it’s difficult for conservatives to keep track of all of the different things that they cry about. Thank you, Sesame Street for always being one of the consistently good ones.

  1. Takes so very little for the cult, who understands nothing but lies, to be angry. They show their IGNORANCE and RACISM and their HOMOPHOBIA every chance they get.

I know a lot of people are keeping their eye on which companies stick with celebrating pride mouth, and which ones are too cowardly under the latest administration. Glad to see sesame street staying as relevant as ever and showing their support.

    Go Sesame Street!

Please stop giving bigots cover by calling them “conservatives”.
They’re just the klan without the robes. They are vile, they are inhumane, they are just nasty bigots.

And when we use euphemisms to describe them, it gives their hate cover, and makes them seem palatable and tolerable.

We have to stop tolerating fascist hate.
We no longer have due process.
The proud boys/klan are in policing and government at all levels.

We are living in the holocaust. And the longer we deny it, the harder it will be to stop the “progress” of project 2025 aka the handmaiden’s tale, aka white supremacist patriarcy aka war crimes and mass murder.

    Thank you.

To lighten- Grover is my favorite Sesame Street Character. Used to have a Grover pillow.

Agreed 100%! I certainly hope the commenter the article mentioned and all the other children of these bigots are NOT LGBTQ because I would hate to think of them being raised by such stupid people!!!

And I thought the holding hands graphic was perfect!!

  5. J.Wms says:

All they have to do is stop watching the show. It’s probably over their heads anyway. 😁

  6. QuiteContrary says:

This isn’t very Sesame Street-ish of me, but I hope they choke on their rage.

  7. Lightpurple says:

I happily shared the Sesame Street message on all my social media accounts.

And when I see someone responding to it with their nonsense about “grooming children” and their far more sexually explicit comments, I shame them for looking at an image of puppets holding hands and instantly thinking of having sex with little kids – because THAT is where their minds are going in their protests.

Now I’m crying. I LOVE them all!
