The trailer for Wicked: For Good has arrived! The second part of Jon M. Chu’s movie adaptation comes out on November 21. Predictably, a lot of the trailer (below), is set to Ariana Grande’s Glinda singing her portion of the “For Good” duet, but we also get snippets of Cynthia Erivo’s Elphaba singing “No Good Deed.” Also featured is Michelle Yeoh is camping it up hard as Madame Morrible, Jonathan Bailey’s Fiyero gettin’ woke, and Jeff Goldblum’s The Wizard addressing Dorothy Gale and crew. It ends with a very corny yet satisfying delivery of ”I’m off to see the Wizard.”
I was pretty skeptical after the trailer for the first movie dropped, but I am all in now. Wicked blew me away and the For Good trailer looks like part two is going to be equally as incredible. I literally teared up while watching it, which I did not expect to do! Despite their storyline being a big part of Act II, neither Boq (SpongeBob Sidepiece aka Ethan Slater) nor Nessarose (Marissa Bode) are in it. The second act of the musical is kinda dark and dramatic, and I’ve been wondering how they would handle certain storylines while still making it relatively family-friendly. Those plots are important in driving the action, so they cannot be cut out unless we get some magical story rewrites. I’m excited to see the second act, and I think that they’re going to do a great job with it. There’s going to be a whole new round of press and an Oscars campaign with Cynthia and Ariana, and I am holding space for it all.
I’m excited and will be seeing it as soon as possible when it comes out. The first one was much better than I had expected on almost every level so I think this will be amazing.
I expect a big Oscar campaign and I expect some big wins. I think part of the reason it seemed to be overlooked this past Oscars was because there was a sense of “well part II is next year and that will get the awards.” Kind of like how Return of the King cleaned up big time.
Loved thr first, definately seeing the second
Cynthia is in it…so I CAN’T…AND LAWD KNOWS I TRIED! But what the movie DID do is get me to read ALL THE WICKED BOOKS…which are MAGNIFICENT & I feel that the BOOKS would make a GREAT series because I was SHOCKED at the adult content in the books that I KNOW had to be cut out of the family friendly play & movies.
You can’t with Cynthia …?
Cynthia said disparaging things about Black Americans in the past THEN tried to gaslight…Which is why I can’t & won’t with her
I watched Wicked on a plane. So I expect I’ll do the same with this one at some point. I just really didn’t want to watch a long long movie in the theater. It was good. But I was happy to watch it on a plane.
I haven’t seen the musical but I don’t really recognize anything from the book in this trailer. Does Glinda marry Fiyero in the musical version?
No, it becomes a love triangle. They get engaged but he leaves her for Elphaba.
The musical is VERY different from the book – particularly when it comes to the love story. It’s basically an interpretation using the same characters.
YES! Wicked was the first movie I’d seen in a theater since before Covid and it was magnificent. I can’t wait for the second part.
Heck, yeah, I’ll watch it! Can’t wait!
Going to gather my nieces and daughters who will be home for Thanksgiving to go as a group.
Still haven’t watched Part I.
Absolute NO from me. Haven’t seen the first one, won’t see the second one. I’m so over Ariana Grande.
I very unexpectedly loved the first one, despite abhoring Ariana and finding Cynthia grating. I fell in love with both of them, cried at the end, and can’t wait for For Good.
Holding space for them too… 😉
I am so excited for Wicked: For Good I was able to see Wicked the first movie last November. In 4DX in the movie theatre with family. And we had the best time. I really wasn’t expecting much going in. And I was blown away.
‘
I never thought a movie would make me like Ariana Grande. But here I am a fan. And I only knew Cynthia from Harriet Tubman. I didn’t eve know she could sing. MY GOD I am in love with her.
I will be sad when I see the credits roll and the journey is done.
I need them in like 50 more movies together.
Just PSA don’t sing in the theatre unless it’s a sing a long showing. People just want to enjoy the movie not hear you.
