Taylor Swift supported Travis Kelce at the opening night of Tight End University

Taylor Swift made a surprise public appearance in Nashville last night! Taylor and Travis Kelce walked hand-in-hand at the opening ceremony for Tight End University. You might think… gosh, that sounds filthy! But no, Travis is a football tight end, and he started “TEU” as a multi-day “training camp” for tight ends to bond and hang out. This is one of Travis’s things and his girlfriend came out to support him.

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce have made their red-carpet debut. The pop superstar and Kansas City Chiefs football player, both 35, walked hand-in-hand into the opening night ceremony for Tight End University in Nashville. Kelce founded the annual three-day summer training camp in 2021 with fellow NFL stars George Kittle and sportscaster Greg Olsen.

According to the event’s website, the camp was founded to help tight ends “bond, collaborate with, and learn amongst their peers while participating in a variety of activities including film study, on-field drills, recovery, rehabilitation, and more.”

A video posted by the Tight End University Instagram page shows the couple beaming as they walk a red carpet into the event. Swift was dressed in a green and white checkerboard top and a matching peplum skirt. Kelce complemented his girlfriend’s look in a white collared tee with yellow embellishments, matching shorts, and white sneakers.

In the comment section, fans couldn’t help but point out that it was the first time the couple had walked a red carpet together. “So, are we calling this their first ‘red carpet’ but casual?” one fan wrote.

That’s not all – Taylor changed outfits and went on stage for an impromptu mini-concert at the TEU opening-night celebration. She performed “Shake It Off” with a live band! Very cute. I don’t think she was scheduled to perform at all – Chase Rice was the actual musical act, so I think Taylor ended up performing with Rice’s backing band.

The events were two different nights. Monday was the opening night event and party, Tuesday was the concert.

Chase Rice shouted her out during his set, but she went on stage with Kane Brown. It was a multi act show.

And then they went to Jason Aldean’s bar. Ick.

Yeah, lately it feels like every time I see pics and think “oh that’s nice they’re out and about, living their lives”, I learn who they’re with (or supporting in this case) and cringe like crazy.

      • fineapplewinner says:

But do you not see that this is a strategy in their case? There is a subreddit with almost 200k members made up mostly of disgruntled former fans (or fans of her exes/former relationships) who furiously deep dive interaction these two have to tie it so some right wing cause or association, no matter how tangential. They do that so they can cloak unreasonable criticism in the guise of something legitimate when in reality, the crux of the argument is actually “I don’t like that she’s not with my favourite ex anymore’. Or “I’m disappointed that she’s not gay”. It’s unreasonable and no other celebrity is subject to the same microscope and scrutiny over every little thing. Look at the difference in how people react to Beyonce’s much more questionable associations…

      • Lilpeppa40 says:

I always find it interesting when people bring up Beyoncé in relation to Taylor out of nowhere.

      • Mandragora says:

@Lilpeppa40 It’s not exactly out of the blue. Of all the current music stars, they’re really the only two who are really peers and at all comparable in terms of sales, devotion of fanbase, level of media attention, 20+ year career etc.

The only other comparable stars are probably Gaga, and she stepped out into films for some time there. And maybe Rihanna, who is a full-time makeup mogul now.

    • JulesB says:

I agree Jason Aldean is terrible, but in context this feels like a nothing-burger. It was an afterparty event on Monday, I doubt Taylor would have a say in where Tight End U hosts their events. Jason Aldean wasn’t there so its not like they were hanging out with him. There are valid criticisms of Taylor (or any celebrity), but this feels like a stretch for meaningful criticism.

i love them together!such a perfect fit for them both!why do people keep saying surprise appearance?they’ve been dating for almost 2 years and apparently live together in florida so its really not a surprise anymore!

  4. Sue says:

The plaid two piece looks cool and comfy and I would like to wear that this summer.

  5. wendy says:

They still look smitten — I would love that green outfit if I were less round.

  6. QuiteContrary says:

They’re in it for the long haul, I think. Her green-and-white outfit is one of the cutest looks I’ve seen on her.

  7. Mandragora says:

This isn’t just her red carpet debut with Kelce – if this counts as a red carpet, it’s the first time in about 20 years of being famous Ms Taylor Swift has ever walked the red carpet with a partner.

Wonder if they chose to do that strategically so it’s not as big a deal when they show to a premiere or award show, or if it’s literally just the first event they’ve been to together with a step and repeat and photographers, between her touring and him being stuck in KC for a chunk of the year.

I’m usually not that person but I’ll be completely unsurprised if sooner rather than later blurry drone footage of a marquee at one of their mansions breaks the internet, or people notice Jack Antonoff, Stevie Nicks, Selena Gomez and a whole pile of very large dudes all mysteriously transiting the same airport.

Your description of the wedding guests made me lol, so thank you 😂. I think they’re going to make it too.

The green dress was night one reception for the summer camp.
It is an interesting program, 3 days, all tight ends on NFL rosters are invited, and their expenses paid by corporate sponsors. Travis is one of the 3 founders of it.
They do football practice stuff and other stuff, seems like a cool thing to do.

The concert was i guess night 2 of the program, and it was called Tight Ends and Friends.
There was a “special” musical guest listed, who was a guy named Kane Brown.
And Taylor came on at the end of his set and closed the show with Shake if Off- she said on stage, she didn’t even have her guitar, it was someone else’s.

I just love that she can do this, and feel safe in Travis’ world.
That she can deal with taking pics with fans and wives and girlfriends of players, knowing they will be on social media, and she is just smiling and sipping her drink and enjoying herself now that the Eras tour is over.

And yes, i have been watching the performance clip this morning. I do miss those saturday afternoon european live streams of the eras tour we had last summer.

    • Abby says:

I so enjoyed waking up early this morning to grainy videos of a happy Taylor playing a surprise song on a guitar, and the internet exploding with happiness. 🙂 It felt a bit like experiencing the Eras Tour (on the internet), for sure. What a time.

  9. Naughty Nina says:

These people seem so lame and corny to me. I never realized how awful Shake it Off is🤮but then again I don’t listen to crappy music.

  10. JKLop says:

She still hasn’t broken up with this Trump-supporting loser? She can do better than some dumb jock.
