Ben Affleck & Jennifer Garner went to a Red Sox game with their two youngest kids

I appreciate how well Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck have managed to co-parent since their divorce. We’ve seen them at school events, volunteering together, and more. I am sure that it was not a straight line, but good for them for getting there. Their situation is not always a realistic option, and Jen seems like she’s the backbone holding everything together. This past weekend, Ben, Jen, and two of their three children, Fin, 16, and Samuel, 13, had their latest family outing. They went to Boston for a Red Sox game at Fenway Park. They had awesome front row seats, too.

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner are enjoying summer as a family.

The Accountant 2 star, 52, and the Deadpool & Wolverine actress, 53, were spotted watching the Boston Red Sox take on the Tampa Bay Rays at Fenway Park on Friday, July 11.

Two of the former couple’s children — [Fin] Affleck, 16, and Samuel Affleck, 13 — were also present for the game night. Affleck and Garner’s eldest child, 19-year-old Violet Anne Affleck, was not in attendance.

NESN cameras caught the family sitting in the front row at the famed stadium. Affleck, who wore a green Red Sox hat, and Garner sat between [Fin] and Samuel.

“Great Red Sox family right there, Ben Affleck, Jennifer Garner and their kids,” NESN commentator Dave O’Brien said as cameras focused in on their outing.

The Argo actor and the Daredevil star were deep in conversation when Affleck seemed to notice the attention on them as he nudged Garner, who flashed a smile in the direction of the camera seconds later.

Affleck and Garner were married from 2005 until 2018. Following their divorce, he married Jennifer Lopez in 2022. However, Afffeck and Lopez later divorced in 2025.

I know the last thing you’re probably expecting from a baseball-related post is fashion talk, but here we go. Disclaimer: I grew up a Yankees fan, but I think it’s endearing that Ben and Samuel wore the Red Sox’s green City Connect hat. I would expect nothing less! Teams wear the City Connect uniforms for Friday home games. (I am contractually obligated through marriage to remind everyone that the San Diego Padres’ City Connect uniforms are the best ones.) I also think it’s cute that Jen’s red striped shirt sort of matched the stripes on the Red Sox logo.

I may be biased because I love going to baseball games, but this is a great family outing and I’m jealous of those amazing seats! It looked like a lot of fun. I wonder if they were in town to visit Ben’s family. Violet goes to Yale, which is two hours from Fenway, but her absence may be due to her internship. Red Sox fans are die-hard, so I wonder how Ben is navigating his kids being exposed to California teams like the Dodgers (booo) or the Angels. You just know he’s the type of dad who always has the Red Sox game on and is constantly talking about the players, their stats, etc. Celebrity dads, they’re just like ours.

Ugh I can’t stand this man. The kids look like they had fun and Jennifer has the patience of a saint.

I also love going to a baseball game. We splurge on a visit to see the Dodgers every summer. It’s a slow, long, gentle game and the whole event, especially evening games that include a sunset, feel like a return to a gentler past. (But getting to and returning from Dodger stadium in peak LA traffic instantly wipes away that illusion )

    • bananapanda says:

Yeah the Dodgers tried to encourage walking from public transit and the video went viral for how inaccessible the stadium is. I love DC bc 5 of the sports teams are metro accessible (all Green line in fact).

  3. Lolacat says:

I don’t think they to worry about the kids becoming Angels fans. Even Angels fans don’t like being Angels fans. Signed, a former Angels fan (I hate the owner and refuse to give him my $$)

I think the Reds, Brewers, and Mariners have the best city connects.

  4. Jegede says:

    Good for them.

I’ll always lol at when Ben took J-Lo to a RedSox game and she spent most of her time admiring her cuticles!!!!!!

  5. Louisa says:

It’s great that they can get along so well for the kids but unless they were visiting their eldest daughter, I find it strange that JG would be in Boston with him. If he was visiting his family with the kids, why would she also be there? They’ve been divorced for years and I don’t think the kids need her there. So why is she?

Jen is right now filming a movie that (in the book anyway) takes place on Nantucket. The book is called the five star weekend by the same author that wrote the miniseries the perfect couple (also taking place there) last year. Also her sister lives in Boston as well as Ben’s mother.

Why is Fin’s name in brackets?

  7. Grant says:

I was watching Daredevil the other day — the one from the early aughts. Jennifer really was such an awesome Elektra. I remember being a little gay kid in high school and she gave me LIFE when she was spinning her sais. I’m so glad they paid Jennifer (and the character) her due in the last Deadpool movie.

  8. Sankay says:

There’s a real love/hate for the Baltimore Orioles city connect uniforms with some saying they look like PJs.

  9. Square2 says:

Fenway Park is very “cozy”. You get a totally different feel at Fenway than watching ithe game on TV.
The “Green Monster” jumps right at you. Infield front row seats is/was a wonderful experience.

I love the city connects! Some teams went kind of boring. I’m proud of my Padres- love them or hate them, they’re about as far from brown/yellow as you can get! I’m a bit sad this is the Padres last season doing them. But I’m sure MLB will find another way to get $$ out of the fans, haha.

    • Rosie says:

I’m really bummed that this is their last season with these jerseys. They’re so much fun!

    • Calliope says:

Oh no! I’m sad they won’t be doing them anymore; I really like them! They really are the best ones (but I do like that the Giants have kept the Orange Friday Night tradition). They’re so fun and cheerfully San Diego. I also can’t stand their regular uniforms and have wished more than once that they’d switch permanently to these.
