Kirsten Dunst’s career is about showing up in random music videos

kiki

Most of you know that I’m not any kind of fan of Kirsten “Kiki” Dunst. I’ve always found her flaky, and her “I’m a ditzy starlet” act grates on my last nerve. That being said, I don’t generally hate on her looks. Kiki can be – and often is – a very pretty girl. This cover is one of those times where she looks great. She’s the cover girl for the new (I’m assuming April) issue of V Magazine, in a lovely, striking shot by Mario Testino. Now, I have absolutely no idea what Kiki is promoting, or why she should need a magazine cover, but whatever.

In other Kiki news, have you heard the Akihabara Majokko Princess cover and seen the video for The Vapors’ “Turning Japanese”? I put it below – I think it only came online a few days ago. Some people like it, but I think it’s… “totally random” if I’m being nice. Totally f-cking insane, if I’m being unkind. The video is directed by McG (he of Charlie’s Angels fame) and Takashi Murakami, and I have no idea why any of this happened:

Like, what the hell? Is this what Kiki’s career is now? Just random sh-t?

What else has she done in the last year? I can’t remember the last thing she was in, aside from Allure.

I really like Kiki. She was wonderful in “Marie Antoinette.” It’s too bad she can’t lay off the sauce and stay sober long enough to get work. I feel so sorry that she has wrecked her career and is now a sort of joke in Hollywood. She’s still young; maybe she’ll change.

  3. Anna says:

Sheesh… McG is a douche. I think he might have directed that because the song “Turning Japanese” was featured in the first Charlie’s Angels movie. I’d like to see Kirsten get edgier roles though, not BS like that.

  4. Alex says:

i never saw her as a pretty not nearr attractive woman. however, in this video she looks hot, she should change her hair color to blue. she looks unique and very hot

  5. Kasia says:

This is not new. I’ve already seen it in November as a part of the ‘Poplife’ exhibition at Tate Modern in London.
Actually I didn’t enjoy it. I think there’s nothing new in it. But Murakami isn’t about originality, is he?

  6. kimberly says:

ya her drinking and alleged drug use sure black balled her from projects.

she should appear on celebrehab or something.

  7. Melanie says:

She was great in Eternal Sunshine. Isn’t that Vapors song really old though?

  8. Shannon says:

I think I’m one of the few people who actually really likes Kirsten. It’s too bad she can’t get a handle on her addictions, because I think she’s incredibly talented and I admire her refusal to buy into the Hollywood glamor machine. She’s avoided changing her teeth/getting plastic surgery/looking like barbie and that’s awesome.

  9. snapdragon says:

she reminds me of a pigeon…i have no idea why. i like her anyway.

  10. Ruby Red Lips says:

I agree Shannon – I also think she is very attractive because of the fact that she has remained true to herself and has a quirky, unusual look & I love her vampire / snaggle teeth

  11. Yetused says:

I really love Kirsten and her looks. She has killer legs, a pretty face and she seems to be such a sweet and fun person. If I could earn my money by appearing in random Japanese music videos I would do that *only*.

  12. Robert says:

Don’t hate on her I think she’s cool. And besides, is anyone here getting paid to be in music videos? That’s a freakin sweet gig. Specially when she could probably retire with all the money she’s made off her films.

  13. EMV says:

She does look really pretty here. I love the lipstick color.

  14. Maritza says:

So what if she is making music videos? Even Brad Pitt and many famous actors have made Japanese commercials. I bet they paid them a lot of money. She looks very pretty. The video is corny but then again Japanese are very into those anime cartoons.

  15. Kevin says:

Sorry, teeth are 1 thing that are worth fixing. Period. I mean whether your an actor, a coal miner or whatever. There is no reason for bad teeth. It’s a health thing. Did you know bad gums could kill you?

  16. SpreadLove says:

I think she is gorgeous and a fine actress at that!

  17. gen says:

People act like her teeth are yellow or broken or missing. Why do all actors need to have perfectly straight blinding white teeth? Can actors have no “flaws”? Its called character people!

  18. quincy says:

@Kevin: “bad gums” aka: periodontal disease can have health implications, but that has nothing to do with teeth being straight. You can have perfectly straight teeth and perio problems or have crooked, healthy ones. Personally, I like minor imperfections in a smile. Overbites can be sexy as hell- Brigette Bargot and Claudia Schiffer spring to mind.

As far as Kiki goes, I like her too. Met her once and she was sweet as pie. Drugs don’t do a body or a personality much good. Hope she gets it together, she’s a talented girl.

  19. moody says:

after interview with a vampire i thought she was going to be a big star . but it doesn’t seem to be

  20. Lway says:

    She’s VERY boring 🙁
