Greta Gerwig’s Little Women came out in 2019, and since then, Emma Watson has managed to stay pretty much under the radar. In the meantime, she’s been taking a break from acting to pursue other interests and is currently living in Oxford while studying for her doctorate. She briefly popped up on the public’s radar over the summer, when word got out that her driver’s license was suspended after she was caught speeding.
Even while staying out of the spotlight, Emma does turn out for the occasional red carpet. She was in Cannes back in May, and this past weekend, she made her first-ever appearance at the Venice Film Festival. While in Venice, Emma gave us two different looks. The first was a Gucci shift dress while the second was a lime green Emilia Wickstead mini-dress with a cream-colored Prada bag.
Now, Watson has made an appearance for the final gasp of the 2025 Venice Film Festival. The actor and activist was photographed taking a boat trip from the legendary Hotel Excelsior Venice Lido Resort in a lime green crepe mini-dress by Emilia Wickstead, which she paired with a moon-shaped cream Prada bag, and brown slingback pumps. Watson accessorized simply with Ray-Bans, a gold and green-stoned pendant necklace, and dainty gold and diamond bracelet.
Earlier that day, Watson stepped out in an all-over Gucci logo shift dress, with leather piping and pocket detailing, in the same brown and gold patent slingback heels, and Ray-Ban sunglasses. While such logomania could look outre elsewhere, the simple shift dress kept things feeling elegant and ladylike.
I’ll be honest, I have never been a fan of any type of apparel that has an all-logo pattern. I have the same opinion about luggage and purses. No hate! You do you, but they’re just not my personal taste. That said, Emma looks great in her Gucci shift dress, even though it reminds me of a dress that a Girl Scout would wear to a Gold Award Ceremony. I really like her jewelry, though, especially her bracelet. As for Emma’s green Emilia Wickstead dress…I mean, 10 points for Gryffindor. Perfect, no notes. It’s a great fit, the perfect length, and her hair looks fantastic. Actually, her hair looked just as good, if not better, with the Gucci dress. Whoever did her coloring did a phenomenal job. The purse and shoes complement it really well, too. Her necklace is fine. It looks like she’s wearing that same bracelet with it, but no complaints there.
These pictures got me thinking. Emma gives off such Natalie Portman vibes, right? She became famous as a child actor, starring in one of the world’s biggest franchises, did some movies afterwards, but then took a break to pursue higher education. Even her style somewhat reminds me of Natalie’s. I totally respect her decision to take a step back in order to better her education, but am looking forward to whatever role she decides to pick for her comeback.

Love the colour of that green shift dress.
Also not a fan of the all-logo pattern. It seems very dated to me.
I am a big fan of shift dresses but I prefer different styling. The heels and the tight fit of the dresses defeat the cool vibe of a shift dress. I do love the green, but this styling is just so brittle, which is opposite of what a shift dress should be.
I love the relaxed yet polished look of a shift dress. My mom, who is petite and not curvy, wears them all of the time and she looks fantastic.
I can’t wear them! With my very curvy, hourglass shape the fit is always off. If I wear a smaller size to fit my waist and shoulders then it’s too tight to accommodate my bust and booty. If I size up I look like I’m wearing a mumu or maternity dress.
To achieve the relaxed yet polished dress vibes I am better suited to a DVF type of wrap dress.
Emma looks awesome!
She looks lovely but I have been to Venice a few times and am picturing trying to get on and off boats in those super short dresses, trying to sit and watch a movie in them, walking up and down bridges in those shoes, etc. (That’s the case for all the Venice photos — I always wonder what Venice they’re in because I just picture twisted ankles and flashing underwear to a boat driver.)
The green dress is cute, but I can’t help reflecting that I made this exact same dress, darts and all, from a Simplicity pattern for my 8th grade home economics class. I got an “A.”
So did I. But in the 10th grade.
7th Grade – bright rust orange. I modeled it at the new shopping mall!
I’ve always felt the same about overall logo patterns until recently. Maybe it’s in contrast to the stupid “quiet luxury” blathering, but I’m all the sudden in love with those classic all over logos. I just scooped up vintage Celine and Gucci logo bags. And Celine had a logo bag on the runway I have to have once it hits the stores.
Emma always looks cute and polished. Shift dresses are really flattering on petite gals. I do wish the dresses were a bit more loose and longer, but she looks great.
Love the Gucci dress — that’s a super cute look.
“Easy…breezy…Covergirl”💚
she has always been a fashion girl – love both of these looks. I can’t imagine trying to get around Venice in those shoes though.
I don’t like all over logo on clothing at all but I don’t mind it on purses and maybe shoes, depending on how it looks. It’s a bit different when something is literally covering your body. IMO it should be limited to accessories but to each their own.
The cut of both dresses is very flattering on her. She looks so polished.
I love both dresses and good for her for focusing on her studies.
She’s a better activist than she is an actress so she should focus on that. I couldn’t watch Beauty and the Beast because of how bad she was. Natalie always could act, Emma not so much.
