T-Pain releases ‘Boots with the Fur’ in collaboration with Crocs

People keeping coming for Crocs — schools banning them as trip hazards, podiatrists warning against long-time use (what do they know!), and, as of late, comedian Josh Johnson, who decried the “Swiss cheese shoes” were insufficient foot protection against the many perils of New York City streets. But this is Croctober, for feet’s sake, and I will not stand (comfortably in my bouncy kicks) for more of this naysaying nonsense! Certainly not during Crocs’ month of glory, and especially not with the new shoe they’re about to drop. May I present to you: the “Unfurgettable” leopard print vegan faux fur knee high boots. If you’re wondering what in the Sam Hill is going on here, A) where’s your sense of imagination! and B) the boots are a collaboration with T-Pain, who’s referencing his own lyrics from 2008 hit “Low,” wherein he rhapsodizes about “boots with the fur.” People Mag got the low down (and no, that pun is apparently not beneath me).

T-Pain wants fans to have their own “boots with the fur.”

The rapper and singer, 41, is launching a collaboration with Crocs for their Croctober collection, which includes “Unfurgettable Leopard Knee High Boots” — in reference to his famous lyric in Flo Rida’s 2008 song “Low.”

The boots, which have faux fur, will be the brand’s “tallest silhouette ever” at 35.4 inches, according to a press release obtained by PEOPLE.

“This limited-edition statement piece features plush, vegan leopard-print fur and is adorned with 17 Jibbitz charms, chains and embellishments that embody self-expression,” Crocs noted in the release.

In the song “Low,” T-Pain famously raps, “Shawty had them AppleBottom jeans (jeans), boots with the fur (with the fur).”

In the campaign, the rapper wears a vibrant layered red and blue button-down shirts paired with a white jacket as he holds up the Crocs boot, adorned with Crocs’ personalized charms known as Jibbitz.

The Unfurgettable Leopard Knee High Boot drops on Oct. 23.

“Croctober is our love letter to the fans,” Carly Gomez, chief marketing officer at Crocs, said in a statement. “They’ve always been the heartbeat of our brand, and this year, we’re celebrating their creativity, individuality, and boldness in ways they have truly only dreamed of.”

The campaign comes months after T-Pain responded to viral money trouble jokes by sharing a viral video from the yacht he was vacationing on.

In the video, the rapper gave fans a tour of the boat, complete with marble statues, skylights, separate sleeping quarters and a full bar. “I guess I’m broke. Anyways here’s the yacht I’m staying on,” he wrote on the clip.

“It’s all within reach, ya know?” he said while walking around the yacht’s deck, set with a full dining table, lounge seating and a jacuzzi. “yOu dIdNt fLY pRIvaTe???” he cheekily captioned the clip, shared in March.

I’ll be honest, I think these boots, though obviously made for comfortable walking, fall into the category of something so hideous it swings back around into being fabulous. Ultimately, though, it’s the look of utmost wonder and adoration on T-Pain’s face when gazing upon his creation that has me sold. He’s simply besotted!! But actually I’m not sold, because A) the stout Corinthian columns that constitute my calves do not lend themselves to knee high styles, and B) holy cow, they’re $160! I’m reading through the product details, and for that $160 the boots really do come with “4 new Jibbitz charms, 17 traditional Jibbitz charms, 2 chains, and 2 extra-large embellishments.” (Sidenote: “Jibbitz” would be a great dog name.) What I’m not finding, however, is how heavy these puppies are. And then how much heavier do they become if you get caught in the rain in them? So I’d like a model demonstration please! Or if one of you lovely bitches splurges when they come out on October 23, kindly report back.

No more “Swiss cheese shoes” now, Josh Johnson!

I had a pair of Crocs winter boots some years ago and I loved them. They were SO LIGHT, especially compared to most winter shoes. I imagine these boots with the fur (with the fur) are heavier but still a lot lighter than you’d think. It also looked like there was an ANKLE boot version for us calf-y ladies. I might actually snag those.
