I love Halloween. I still dress up, even if I have nowhere to be other than trick-or-treating, and I plan on dressing up to hand out candy even after my kids are too old for me to go with them. And while some people eagerly await the start of #MariahSzn, October 1 kicks it all off for me. Every year I look forward to seeing what the Queen of Halloween, Heidi Klum, will dress up as for her epic Halloween party.
This year marks the 25th anniversary of Heidi’s first party in 2000. Last year, she dressed as E.T., while the year before, she and her associates did an elaborate peacock costume. I loved E.T., thought the peacock was fine, and did NOT like 2022’s worm costume. Heidi did not disappoint this year, however! 2025’s ensemble was an incredibly impressive Medusa, complete with snake hair that moved, a scary-looking tongue, and a long tail. Heidi’s husband, Tom Kaulitz, was a Greek soldier that had been turned to stone after looking directly at Medusa’s face.
Klum dressed as the mythological Medusa, debuting her transformative look at her annual Halloween party in New York City on Friday, Oct. 31. Despite being turned to stone by her stare, Kaulitz tells PEOPLE on the red carpet that he found Klum’s costume to be “sexy.”
“I think he looks super hot,” Klum adds of her husband’s costume.
“HAPPY HEIDIWEEN 🐍Don’t stare too long or you’ll turn to stone,” Klum captioned an Instagram reel showing off the costume.
Klum’s latest intricate costume was complete with a long tail and moving snakes that replaced her hair. She hissed at the gathered red carpet photographers and pointed a bow and arrow as she posed for pictures.
Klum started sharing photos and videos of the intricate makeup process early Friday, even tagging the makeup designer Mike Marino to give him credit for his work. Marino is a three-time Oscar nominee thanks to his work on The Batman, Coming 2 America and A Different Man. He also won an Emmy for his work in transforming Colin Farrell into The Penguin.
In classic Klum fashion, she doesn’t take the easy way out. Rather, she goes all in on her costumes, even if that means hours upon hours in the makeup chair and months of preparation to perfect the look.
This costume is so cool-looking! The moving hair is my favorite part. After watching all of the many behind-the-scenes pictures and videos documenting the entire costuming process, I can’t get over the truly wild amount of work and detail that goes into it. I love Heidi’s commitment to dressing up in such elaborate and sometimes downright terrifying costumes. For the extended-body costumes like this one, do you think she takes the tail part off to sit down during the party itself or that she just stands up for the whole night to stay in character?
As for some of the other costumes from Heidiween attendees, Heidi’s older daughter, Leni Klum, went as Camilla Cream, a character from the children’s book, A Bad Case of Stripes. I’ve never heard of it, but she looked cute. Her younger children, Henry, Johan, and Lou Samuel, were also there. I can’t find any confirmation as to their costumes, but it looks like Johan was Blade and his girlfriend, Kayla Betulius, was Dorothy (attacked by a werewolf) while Heidi’s brother-in-law was Sailor Moon. Ice-T was (I think) an urban legend (he had a Jason mask, ice pick, axe, and knife) and his wife, Coco Austin was a sexy Chucky. K-Pop Demon Hunters singers Rei Ami and EJAE were also there as KPDH characters. Rei was Zoey, who she does the singing voice for, and EJAE was Derpy the tiger. Finally, Darren Criss and his wife, Mia, were there dressed as Shrek and sexy Puss ‘n books. I’m including them because Mia’s costume included the Skims “full bush” thong. We finally found a practical use for it!
I’m over Heidi’s costumes and that lady in the last one looks like she’s in an adult movie…
I’m all for adults dressing up and having fun on Halloween but I’m over Heidi out-uglying her costumes every year.
The Medusa hair and face makeup were fun, as was the stone soldier companion. But Heidi’s costume would have been better without the ‘tail’, which just signaled they didn’t know when to stop.
Heidi is the queen of Halloween and she never disappoints with her elaborate costumes!!
I had somehow managed to miss the introduction of the bushy thong. I wish I could go back a few minutes ago to a time when I wasn’t aware of it. My favorite group costume I heard of was Elon Musk, with money falling out of his pockets, being trailed by his gang of baby mamas.
I look forward to Heidi’s outfit every year! I am with you, i didnt like the worm, but this one I love!
