Prince William flew overnight to Brazil, where he will spend the next week (or longer) in Rio de Janeiro and Belém. William is hosting the Earthshot Prize BS in Rio, then he’s apparently going to Belém for at least a day or two of COP30, the big climate conference which either starts on November 10th (a week from today) or on Thursday (the 6th). To embiggen himself ahead of all of this, William agreed to a Hello Magazine cover, with some exclusive comments about how he’s a major environmentalist (who uses private planes, helicopters and yachts). Jason Knauf is also quoted extensively throughout the piece, and Knauf swears that William is “very happy to roll up his sleeves, get on the phone or travel to meetings.” LOL, all evidence to the contrary. You can read Hello’s cover story here, I found it extremely boring and out-of-touch for a man who just moved into his sixth forever home and grabbed 150 acres of a public park. Speaking of, William wants people to know that his dad helped him with his big COP30 speech!
The King helped the Prince of Wales with the “landmark” speech he will deliver at a climate summit later this week. The Prince has had numerous conversations with his father about COP30, a source has said, sharing a draft of his speech for the monarch’s thoughts ahead of time.
The trip, which will be the first time the Prince has visited Latin America in an official capacity, will see him address world leaders about climate change and the environment. He will be representing his father and the British government at the event. The Prince and King Charles are both “extremely passionate” about saving the planet, with the King having previously attended COP summits.
The King has also taken a “keen interest” in Prince William’s Earthshot Prize, a Palace source added, which will hold its award ceremony in Rio de Janeiro this week. As he boarded a commercial flight to Brazil, the Prince said he is “excited” to experience the country’s “vibrant culture” and the “warmth of its people”.
He will undertake five days of engagements in Rio de Janeiro and Belem, and added that there is “no better place to celebrate” the “bold leadership” of those trying to save the planet. On Wednesday, he will speak at the Earthshot Prize ceremony, where Kylie Minogue and Shawn Mendes will perform. He will also tour Brazilian landmarks such as Christ the Redeemer, the Maracana stadium and the beaches. Sir Keir Starmer, the Prime Minister, will join him for part of the trip.
In a statement as he boarded the commercial flight, the Prince said: “As I depart for Rio de Janeiro, I am excited for my first visit and to experience Brazil’s vibrant culture, its extraordinary biodiversity, and above all, the warmth of its people. With the world’s eyes turning to Brazil this week, there is no better place to celebrate bold climate leadership. Hosting The Earthshot Prize allows us to not only recognise those driving change, but to be inspired by them. When we work together with optimism and courage, a more sustainable future is within our reach.”
I’m very curious to see how the timing of the trip pans out, because if William plans on delivering a COP30 speech THIS week, he’ll possibly make the speech in front of a nonexistent crowd? I’m looking through the UN materials and they have different start dates for the conference, so who knows. It’s quite possible that this is very much like William’s 2023 “I had meetings at the UN” situation, where his staff finessed a meeting across from the UN building and told everyone that Huevo was a big and important global statesman. As I said, I’m curious to see the optics on the COP30 stuff. The stuff about Charles helping William with his speech is funny too, considering last week’s New Statesman cover story made it sound like William is close to illiterate.

I’m sure someone wrote his speech but do I believe it was Chuckles? No I do not. This is just Peg trying to say look Harold daddy loves me better and helped ME write MY speech. Still fuming that Harry met with Chuckles.
If that’s the case, I hope his nose lengthens like Pinocchio’s and trips him up as he walks onto the stage!
Maybe this was their trade— Chuck would allow Bill to take (some) credit in the press for finally acting when it came to Andrew, but in exchange, William had to credit *him* when it comes to anything involving the environment. (Also, he might have known that if he didn’t help write it, it would be a mess and William would humiliate the family…again.) Everything in this family seems to involve a quid pro quo.
Damage control playing happy family with his father. He is so arrogant. The Wales kids are ultra privileged and he acquires 5 homes and copters places.
He truly is such a colossal loser. He should have been born second.
Yeah, except I wouldn’t want to wish his life on poor Harry. Harry came out way better in the end, while William is forever trapped.
Dad helping write a speech for his 43 year old son, sounds a lot like those parents who do their kids homework.
I’m curious if his Earthshot will be broadcast live in Brazil, or is this solely a YouTube livestream.
It is hard to believe that a man who uses a helicopter like a taxi cares about the environment.
It’s hard to believe that a man who’s never commented on the sh!t being pumped into UK waterways cares about the environment. But perhaps his reticence to criticise water companies is because of an occasional payment deal he’s secured that’s like the one his uncle had at RL.
I honestly thought William gave an interview to Hello Magazine but it would seem that he gave a few quotes and a photo (KP is credited for the photo) and Emily Nash spoke to Jason Knauf.
I just think it’s funny that the celebrities’ names are boldfaced, so you don’t even notice William’s initially 😂
It can’t just be a speech; it has to be a “landmark” speech. How many of those has he given and not one has ever marked the land.
Always a landmark. KP/Knauf must be aware that thesauruses exist. They should really use one.
“not one has ever marked the land.” 🤣🤣
😁
Charles “helping” with William’s speech is more proof that William is apparently illiterate.
It sure does..
A palace “source” has the opinion that William has everything read to him and has assistance writing is because he is functionally illiterate . Read that online last week. Hard to believe he can have completed university with poor reading skills.
willie had to quit dumbed down history of art degree as it was too complicated for him and he had got help at Eton to help pass his Art A level l! waity had to literally beg him to stay at the uni ( or her changing uni was for nothing!)🤣 he had join a geography degree ‘tailored to his needs’’ to ensure he actually passed! 🤣
What makes this upcoming speech a “landmark”? Also, I hope they remember to stage a few shots of William jogging on the beach. We don’t want any of those Central Park skeptics around.
William is one heartbeat away from the throne and the current monarch helps write his speeches. He was eligible to be sovereign since he was 18.
Isn´t Brazil, and Rio in particular, in the middle of the deadliest violence crisis ever?
Visit a favela, Billy!
Harry probably writes his own speeches, Willy. And will you be reading yours off the paper or cue cards?
He doesn’t, or at least not all of them. We got to the that in the docuseries. He does study them and sure he approaches them with care.
So the little boy needed help from his daddy with writing a speech. Isn’t that sweet.
We all know Scooter it’s going to say nothing important and then brief how he is a major player on the world stage. Zzzzzzz….. such a light weight.
There is no mention of the winners of EarthShot? Program sounds like a royal tour by Prince William. Do the winners get to see some of the tourist sites? Are they even going to be there? It becomes more clear each time that this is a PR exercise for William and William alone. Hope William enjoys his trip with Jason.
It does sound like a royal tour with the itinerary. And I’m guessing the winners get one or maybe 2 nights of a hotel and no more. Assuming they get that paid for. A whole week to do visits? Doubtful.
My poor eyesight read “The Grifty Issue” not Green. LOL.
I’m sure his speech was written by the palace and was approved by BP if not Charles specifically. They’re not sending William off to give any kind of speech before world leaders without there being approval.
But we’ll be able to tell how much William was involved in writing it based on how many grandiose statements are included, or statements about how important he is, etc.
@Becks, lmao at your second paragraph. If he claims that climate change will be completely eliminated within in the next five years or some BS, we’ll know he wrote it himself.
Curious why he’s changing tack about Charles, now. Up til this, William was eager to tell the world how much he was his own man.
Wasn’t it originally announced that William would be representing Charles at COP? So, technically, he speaking on behalf of the king?
Whenever I see Knauf, in addition to remembering he personally oversaw the campaign to destroy Meghan and make sure she understood she was second rate and she and her children did not matter, I also remember how Harry recounts in Spare how both he and William confronted Charles about one of Charles’ staffers leaking negatively about William to the press. And Charles responded saying that the Queen had Angela Kelly and why didn’t he deserve an Angela? And every time Charles got good press it wasn’t because the boys got bad press. And William couldn’t believe a grown man wanted an “Angela”. Well, who had an Angela now William?
Jason Knauf, the awards chief executive, told Sky News: “Earthshot events are, you know, Prince William’s favourite kind of moment of the year. And he works really, really hard to make sure that all of our finalists feel supported, that we get the most out of the incredible network that he’s built, and that we reach as many people as possible.
“So, you know, this is what he does best. It’s going to be a great week. So we’re just delighted to be here.”No Kate but best friend Jason Knauf using the royal “we” about him and Will and their achievements as a couple.
So, the goal of Earthshit is to network and not about the actual earth-saving results? If so, then why are the initiatives and those developing them not getting more promotion in the media? How about the public hearing about the success of these initiatives over time? What are they actually achieving and is it worth all of them flying all over the world to present the initiatives if no one publicizes them? IOW, the only one getting any publicity for Earthshit seems to be Willnot!
Earthshot is useless in the grand scheme of things. It’s William’s vanity project and nothing more.
I know this isn’t a popular opinion, but I appreciate aspects of Charles. He takes his duties seriously, he’s an intellectual, a serious reader, and has a variety of interests. William has none of these things.
@Cosmo Will is not a patch on his dad as far as work ethic goes. Trouble for PR and RR is Will is Mr Cellophane. He’s just not going to do a great deal of “work”. Modernizer, hands on dad etc., will be the spin but very feeble excuses for a literal lack of presence. He’s the biggest threat to the continuity of the monarchy because he can’t be relied upon to turn up regularly!
They actually reported on a UK.news channel last week.that William when he becomes King, is not going to be seen that much ?.l.dont know who.or where they got this information from but there you go.!!
@Cosmo I’m with you on this. Charles may be far from perfect but is much maligned. He’s a hardworking chap, and is twice the man William is.
Too bad he’s a ditherer, a cheater and a poor excuse for a father to his younger, more successful son!
@Cosmo, I agree. I hate to agree because Charles is such a selfish, greedy, arrogant adulterer, and a sh!t father and grandfather, but credit where credit is due. He’s a ridiculous person in many ways (the tantrum over the pen comes to mind), but unlike his son, he actually does things besides vacation constantly.
Charles is no intellectual. Imo He had so so grades at university. He’s interested in learning but I don’t think hes an intellectual. He had mentors like van der post
A number of years ago, when the queen was still alive, Philip was still around, and Charles was the POW, he was recognized as possibly the most productive POW in history, with respect to his variety of initiatives (education, the environment) how hard he worked, etc. That was before we knew much of what we do now about what he also was doing behind the scenes (e.g., where money was coming from), and right out in the open (how Harry and Meghan have been treated, failure to take appropriate steps regarding Andrew, etc.). What might otherwise be a reasonably impressive legacy is permanently tainted by other poor decisions and dumb moves over the years, not the least of which was forcing Camilla down everyone’s throat, and the bargain he made with the media to accomplish it.
In terms of his positive accomplishments, Harry takes after him, as well as Diana. Will is just a waste of space.
Billy nobody is paying attention to Earthcrap.
He should be successful, maybe then he’ll feel better.
Of course, he has the advantage of a huge palace machine, doesn’t have to look for sponsors himself, doesn’t have to pay a team, doesn’t have to advertise, and much more. Good for him, maybe then he’ll leave his brother alone.
What bothers me about his initiative is that it focuses too little on the participants and that there is no continuous support for them on his part. Does he visit them? Does he talk to them about their successes or failures? If he doesn’t take a very active interest himself, then for me it’s just a PR stunt based on his father’s idea. Why is the Prime Minister involved? I can only shake my head.
And: there are good ideas and good scientists participating. I hope the organisers’ narcissism, which is so terribly noticeable, doesn’t ruin it. It’s far too huge. The environment also has to do with the resources used. There are clearly too many here.
