Recently, we heard that Sophie Turner split up with her boyfriend of two years, Peregrine Pearson, and she’s rebounding hard with Chris Martin, who is twenty years her senior. I mentioned in that story that Chris is still on my sh-tlist for wasting Dakota Johnson’s time. That turned out to be a controversial comment, as some people think “a guy wasting a woman’s time” means that I was saying that women don’t have agency. Women have agency, and men still waste their time dithering about what they want, making and breaking promises about their future and being wishy-washy about where a relationship is going. Hello, that’s been Chris Martin in every single one of his relationships since his divorce. Dakota was 28 years old when she started seeing Chris. Eight years later, she’s only really done with him now. According to People, she’s reentering the dating pool as well.

Dakota Johnson is dipping her toes back into the dating pool, some five months after she and Chris Martin broke up.

Johnson, who split from the Coldplay lead singer in June, “has been slowly dating again and she’s happy,” a source tells PEOPLE. “Her relationship with Chris was often hot and cold, and while she always hoped they’d work out, she seems lighter and more at peace now that it’s final.”

Multiple sources confirmed to PEOPLE on June 4 that Johnson, 36, and Martin, 48, had ended their nearly eight-year relationship. The pair were first romantically linked in 2017 and photographed together as recently as May 16.

“She’s in a great place,” the source tells PEOPLE of Johnson. “She’s busy, fulfilled, and she’s moved on.”

Johnson and Martin’s split came roughly three months after an insider told PEOPLE that the pair had been engaged for “years.” They initially sparked engagement rumors in 2020 but were “in no rush to get married” then, per the source. Roughly two weeks after Martin and Johnson’s split, a source told PEOPLE that the breakup “wasn’t exactly a shock,” adding that the pair’s relationship “had the same issues for a while.”

I hope Dakota finds a guy who adores her and wants to be with her and enjoys her quirkiness. I hope she finds someone who will go outside with her and not freak out if a paparazzo is there. Other than that, it sounds like she’s in a good place professionally and personally. She’s the kind of Millennial celebrity who has a ton of side-gigs too, so I’m sure she is keeping super-busy.
