After spending several weeks as a brunette, Katherine Heigl has gone back to her blonde roots. Or whatever. I’m actually thinking this might be a wig? Just because her hair looks “off” to me, but maybe she really did go back to blonde and her hair is just really messed up. Who knows? I’m not even looking at Dame Heigl because she brought her daughter Naleigh to the set, and the paparazzi got some adorable photos of Naleigh. She looks like such a little cutie. She seems like a good baby too, not that I know that much about babies. Naleigh never seems to be fussy or tantrum-y in the photos I’ve seen of her, Which is basically my ideal baby.
And yes, the rumors are true – Dame Heigl did the brunette thing because she’s about to start filming on One for the Money, the first Stephanie Plum film. Gah! I love the Plum series (written by Janet Evanovich), and Dame Heigl is such sh-tty casting. Stephanie Plum is supposed to be the girl-next-door, a Calamity Jane, and yet hardcore and sexy all at the same time. Stephanie is not supposed to be some diva with a horrible, stuck-up attitude. Although… Heigl really isn’t the worst actress, so maybe she’ll be able to pull it off? She’s talking like she’s taking the whole thing seriously. Heigl told Us Weekly that Stephanie is “a very specific kind of girl, so I just wanted to show the legion of fans that I will be your vision of Stephanie Plum. It’s important. I hate when my favorite books are made into films and they are just not what you expect.” UGH.
No mention on who has been cast as Ranger, Morelli, or Grandma Mazur. Or Lula! Lula has to be Queen Latifah, right? I mean, the Queen is the only one who can pull that off. Although Mo’Nique might be good, come to think of it. Although I doubt Mo’Nique would want to play a supporting part as a hooker right after winning the Oscar. So Latifah, right? And Morelli? I’m just going to say it… Jon Hamm. Right?!!? Dame Heigl doesn’t deserve this awesome imaginary casting.

She is going to be Stephanie Plum? Wow – what a disappointment. She doesn’t fit this role at all. I cannot believe Janet E. is allowing this to happen. Someone more like – I don’t know, maybe Amanda Peet?….would have fit the role but not this actress. Disappointing!
LOATHE the Heigl witch! she has no business being cast as Stephanie Plum and it is such an extreme disappointment that the casting directors for the movie are so incompetent at their jobs! here’s some of my dream cast:

the perfect Lula would be Loni Love! She would be awesome!!!!! Who will be Nick and Ranger?? i can see Steve Buscemi as her oily ex husband. I LOVE Steve! I hope this is a good movie, because the books are so wonderful and so many times the movies don’t hold up.
David Boreanaz was my vote for Morelli too! Both my husband and I think he would be perfect (we both love Bones). Ranger is harder….If the choice for Stephanie is any indication though, we are all going to be severely disappointed in this movie.

Man, I feel a little depressed now. I got turned off from the Plum books after book… 12, I think, because frankly they just got dire, but I love the earlier books and Heigl is SO not Stephanie.

Their daughter is just so adorable to me. I can barely stand Heigle, but I love that they adopted this little girl.
As for her hair color, I don’t feel she can carry any color right except the blonde. Every other color from the red to the black doesn’t seem to mesh well. But as a blonde, she is a knockout. Too bad that in any color hair I’m usually wishing someone WOULD knock her out.

I know Sandy’s too old for the role but i can’t help it! she was so wonderfully awkward/funny in Miss Congeniality that i always associate her with Steph. i had never thought of Amanda Peet, though after some research i could totally see her playing Steph, good call! i also agree with casting Steve Buscemi, as i love that man entirely too much! but i think he’d rock as Vinnie instead of the ex.

Kaiser, you know I love Jon Hamm, but … Excuse Me?! You realize Morelli is Italian, right? As much as I love David Boreanaz, I can’t see him as Morelli either. Maybe. My friends and I have tried to cast it before, and always have a hard time with Morelli. If Dewayne Johnson can keep from flashing his pearly whites, physically, he’s the perfect Ranger. Can’t you just hear him saying “Babe.” We decided that Linda Cardellini would be perfect for Stephanie. However, she’s only ever had bit parts, so there’s no way she’d even be considered.
@N – Janet Evanovich sold the movie rights either right before or right after One for the Money was published, and she didn’t retain any creative control over the movies.

i had originally thought of Johnson for Ranger specifically because of the “babe” line but a majority of the time his acting is so horrible that i feel physically ill when he’s on screen. i think Jason Momoa could pull it off if he buffed up a little bit.

I always imagined Maura Tierney as Stephanie and Antonio Sabato Jr. as Ranger when I read the books a few years ago. They’re probably getting a little too old now, though.

For Steph I always think of Sandra Bullock in the first Speed film, that same feel but with a head of wild curls. No idea what younger actress could fit that though.

Well, I like Heigl and I love seeing her on screen, so kudos to the project! And besides, I’ve never heard of these books, ae they romantic novels or what? I dont get it. Im more of a King/Patterson kinda reader.

Heigl is a horrible choice for Stephanie! Steph is a curvey, blue eyed, brunette with a mix of flakiness, independence and sensuality. No way can Heigl pull it off! I loved the first twelve books and adore the character of Ranger but the last three books have been pretty bad. I don’t think Evanovich actually wrote 15 – it was so inconsistent. Between Hollywood and the author they are ruining a great franchise! Kimberly Williams would have made a great Steph…or maybe even Amanda Peet but not Heigl!
