Nicole Kidman and Simon Baker have been friends for decades. It’s the Australian-Hollywood thing, where basically all Australian actors know each other and they’re all mates and they know each other’s spouses. Well, Simon Baker’s marriage to Rebecca Rigg fell apart circa 2020, and Rebecca is (obviously) one of Nicole’s close friends too. Still, Nicole got Simon a part in Scarpetta – he plays her husband. Now that Nicole’s marriage to Keith Urban is done and dusted, there are rumors about Nicole and Simon. Get it, Nicole!!
Nicole Kidman is growing close to a fellow Aussie actor after her divorce from country singer husband Keith Urban.
Twice-married Hollywood A-lister Nicole, 58, was snapped clasping hands with Simon Baker, 56. He plays her husband in Prime Video series Scarpetta in which she is a forensic pathologist investigating a series of murders. The pair were seen cosying up at a screening of the series earlier this month in New York and stuck together at the after-party.
A source said: “Nicole and Simon’s closeness is definitely the talk of the town right now. They’re incredible together on screen and when you see them together in real life, that chemistry clearly wasn’t faked. At the after-party they stayed close all night and were deep in conversation.”
Nicole, whose first marriage was to Tom Cruise between 1990 and 2001, is pals with Simon’s ex-wife, fellow Aussie actress Rebecca Rigg, from whom he split in 2020. She is godmother to their son.
She and The Devil Wears Prada star Simon previously appeared together in 2022 US TV series Roar — again as a married couple.
Nicole said of their on-screen kisses: “I didn’t find it weird. We’ve kissed on the cheek before. We’ve hugged a lot. We’ve lived in the same house. And you know, the woman I grew up with, he was married to for a substantial part of his life . . . 29 years, so we are just the same person.”
Yeah, I kind of doubt Nicole would go there, simply because she is good friends with his ex. That being said, I can see why there are rumors. Simon is still incredibly handsome and he could have chemistry with a barge. Like, it would be tough to say “no” if he was up for it, but I doubt Nicole would really date him out in the open. Weirder things have happened though, and they would be Australia’s new Golden Couple. God, he’s hot.

Simon Baker has been a hottie for decades. I hope she’s having the best time lol.
I kind of doubt this is true, but… maybe? Simon and Rebecca got married really young and it seems like waited until all the kids were out of the house to divorce. There might not be any real animosity there.
Yeah Rebecca may be glad if someone she knows and loves is the one who potentially becomes a stepmom to her kids.
The first time I saw Simon Baker was in L. A. Confidential. It was a small part, but he was beautiful. I think she is godmother to at least one of his children. One thing no one can say about Nicole is that she doesn’t keep her friends forever.
I think they are just promoting the show. Jamie Lee Curtis ruins this show for me, she overacts, and is so very loud. In the books, Dr Scarpetta is a very internal character. She is contrasted by the street smarts of her detective friend and the highly intellectualized psychological profiling of her husband. None of this dynamic is present in the show, everybody just yells. So I think they are smart to look like a couple in promotional photo calls in order to compensate for the show’s shortcomings.
I liked Simon Baker since The Guardian. Anyone remember that show?
💯💯💯 JLC ruined it for me too. Usually kidman is the queen of overacting. I had to mute JLC. Hyena doesn’t do her shrieking justice.

Yes, I remember. It was the first time I saw him. He seemed a little young for the role but he did a good job acting in it from what I remember.
He was 32 when it started (born in 1969), that seems like a reasonable age?
I liked the early Scarpetta books, but I moved on to better writers after the writing quality declined. I was looking forward to watching this show because of the actors, but I’ve heard the same thing you’re saying. Everyone seems to really complain about Jamie Lee overacting in the series and how it ruins it.

I tried watching it – got through 2.5 episodes, but it was like the writers couldn’t focus. Like there were 5 shows going on at the same time and any one of them would have been interesting if the writers fleshed them out. JLC is appallingly bad, really cringe making.
I really liked him in The Mentalist! I think he and his ex had 4 kids, and a 29 year relationship isn’t a failure. If everyone’s consenting grown ups, please go for it!

Meh. I’m not buying he and Nicole are an item. He moved back to Australia over a decade ago. He lives in Australia and appears to love living there, and he’s had that girlfriend, who is 25 years younger than him, for several years now. I assume they are still together. They were still together in the earlier part of 2025. I don’t know about now. She is a photographer and the owner of a swimsuit label or some kind of beachwear label.
Kidman’s been banging her co-stars for decades so it’s totally likely. She was also desperate to get him on board, I don’t blame her. He was hooking up with young influencers but I can still see the fling.

I like Nicole but she had rumoured affairs with most of her costars: biggest one was with Ewan McGregor in Moulin Rouge but there were rumours of her being with her costars throughout all of her career. Not saying they’re true though

I suspect these are publicity rumors, and it’s working because now I might watch their show even though I don’t ever enjoy NK’s acting. Because Simon is hot and I want to see if they have chemistry.
My guess is that both Kidman and Baker will only date younger. Like at least 10 years younger if not 15 or 20. It seems like the trend these days among celebs of every gender who are still good-looking and have lots of money — Jessica Alba is now dating Danny Ramirez, who’s 10 or 11 years younger than she is. I have a friend who got divorced in her 50s, she’s good-looking and has lots of money, and she’s now dating someone who’s between 15 and 20 years younger than she is.
Jessica’s dating DR? Good for her! She was with Michael Weatherly (ick) when she was really young then with Cash, and a young mom, forever. Those are basically the only guys she’s been linked to her whole adult life.
