Bono’s daughter Eve Hewson, 34, is carving out a real career as an actress. I’ve seen her in Behind her Eyes, The Perfect Couple, Bad Sisters and Disclosure Day and not once did it occur to me that she’s a nepo baby. She can really act and she’s so believable on screen. She was my second favorite performance in Disclosure Day behind Emily Blunt (although I surely take Colman Domingo for granted at this point, he’s just that good). Eve has a new interview with The Sunday Times. (I’m relying on Hello! Magazine’s reporting as it’s paywalled.) She has some opinionated thoughts about fame which reflect her privilege surely. She griped a little about how people don’t take her seriously due to her background, but then caught herself and admitted it’s much easier to get in the room. Here’s some of what she said:
Speaking with The Sunday Times, Eve reflected on growing up a “nepo baby,” alternating weeks on the road with her dad and as a regular student at school.
“You go away and have a sort of unbelievable fantasy life,” she said of touring with her dad. “And then you come back and take the train to school in the rain and see your friends and do your homework.”
“I make all these friendships with these people for six months and then go back to my regular life,” she continued, noting: “I think it set me up for being able to manage it.”
Also reflecting on the early days of her career, entering the entertainment industry the daughter of someone already so famous within it, she recalled: “It was just, like, people really don’t take you seriously,” admitting: “When you’re going into castings and meeting with directors, you can really feel that. So you have to power through.”
“It’s definitely easier to get into the business, harder to be taken seriously. And that’s fine,” she added, further sharing how, though she is certainly passionate about her career, her unique entry into the industry took fame “off of a pedestal for me.”
“It’s the dumbest thing on the planet to want to be famous. You’re losing all your privacy. You’re putting yourself up for so much criticism. I don’t know why we celebrate it so much,” she maintained.
Still, she is far less cynical when it comes to what motivated her to become an actress despite fame’s pitfalls.
“I got to spend two weeks on this movie set and that was it,” she said of her time filming The 27 Club, a 2008 indie film, in North Carolina when she was 15 years old.
“I had one mission in life and it was to be an actor,” she said. “I think it was the community feeling of everybody working really hard on one thing. We’re all working on this thing we care about. Everyone’s creative. Everyone has a voice.”
As Eve mentioned, her childhood alternated between being the (spoiled) daughter of a well known musician and having a normal-ish life in a Dublin suburb. She never wanted for anything, so she doesn’t associate fame with financial security. I like how she started bitching about how people don’t take her seriously when she’s auditioning and then dialed it back by admitting it’s fine because she had it easier breaking in. That’s all we ask of nepo babies, that they admit they have it easier in certain ways. Also that they have talent and put in the work, which Eve clearly does. I just learned while researching for this story that she graduated from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts in 2013. It definitely shows.

Bono is not a bad looking man. I kind of see both of them in her face. It depends on what angle the photo is taken from. I can see him in the second picture with the story – the one where she’s the pretty light pink dress with the black print and she has a scarf draped around her neck,

She reined it back in but it was teetering. If her one mission in life is to be an actor then having a famous parent has helped her. Period. She’s talented but having to earn being taking seriously is something that all actors have to do to an extent. Especially the ones that can’t even get into the rooms. No shade to her bc she is talented but yeah she’s teetering.
I had zero idea she was Bono’s daughter. She creeped me out so much in Behind Her Eyes, lolol. I finally watched The Perfect Couple a few weeks ago and she was good in that too but I couldn’t get over thinking she was going to steal my soul or something LOL.
And yes – she caught herself in time. Easier to break into the business. Maybe it is harder to be taken seriously maybe not. I obviously don’t think she overly attaches herself to her father’s fame – but maybe I’m just completely ignorant of it lol. I also think it helps that her father is a musician and not an actor.
Behind Her Eyes had such a freaky ending. It creeped me out and stayed with me a long time.
Would she be taken less seriously because she’s the daughter of a singer? I believe what she’s saying, but I’m curious since the children of actors like Gwyneth seem to be taken seriously for a lot of things, but I have no idea why. Although I just realized Gwyneth’s parents are far less famous than Bono haha.
She’s seen fame up close through her dad, so I believe her statement about fame makes sense.
Gwyneth’s father was far more powerful and connected in the television and film industry.

I don’t think you can say that fame equals financial security, it can but there are a lot of famous people with nothing or constantly worried about money.
I also agree that there are differences, being an actress of musician and that your goal, is great and fame can be a biproduct of that but, the people who want to be famous to be famous. Are stupid.
I thought her answer on the nepo stuff was fine. She’s put in the work and acknowledged she had an in.
It’s crazy at Comicon where you see actors you adored as a child schilling $20 autographs. They might have all briefly made more money per year than a typical twentysomething, but most only worked for a few years, never got cast in leading roles again, and had agents and managers to pay. It’s not shocking that they didn’t know how to invest and plan for the future, but it’s definitely a wake up call about “stardom.”
I’ve been a fan of hers since she was in The Knick with Clive Owen. That was her first big role and she was fantastic in it. She has such a beautiful face and I love that she hasn’t given in to the tragic super thin worked on face look of Hollywood. She looks like a real person. A beautiful one – but still a real person.
I had no idea who this was and my first thought that it HAD to be a child of Helena Christensen. Never would have thought it was Bono’s child.

She was new to me in Bad Sisters and I didn’t know who she was (First season). I developed such a girl crush on her. I’m glad I got to know here before knowing she’s nepo, because honestly she’s as talented as she is beautiful. (Her father annoys me, but I like that he gave his kids a reasonably normal childhood).
She’s hilarious in Bad Sisters.
Agree she’s one of the better characters in Disclosure Day. I was actually more interested in what was happening to her as hers was the character that had to react to everyone and everything else going on around her and that her character was able to keep some sense about herself after what was done to her – I would have been freaking out!
Her brother is talented too. And has his dad’s singing voice…it’s a bit eerie.
They’re carving their own way in the world. I almost don’t think of their dad when I look at them whereas with other nepo babies you can’t help but think of their parents immediately.
Umm her Dad may be a singer but Jesus his connections in the acting industry UK and Us run deep. She was definitely going to make it.
I’d love to hear of a child of entertainers who went to Law school or got their Masters in chemical engineering.
I know people trying to get into this industry and it’s almost impossible. Almost. It’ll soon be impossible. There’s nothing she’s doing in her work that is so much better or stronger than ‘Lindsay from Nebraska’.
Yeah, I’d like to see any of them pursue science or medicine.
