Matt Damon’s wife Luciana is pregnant with their third child

Two weeks ago, Kaiser and I were e-mailing about Matt Damon’s wife Luciana and Kaiser thought she was pregnant. She wrote, “the last time I saw her was when Matt got the lifetime acheivement thing, I thought she looked pregnant in some photos.” I thought it was just Lucy’s dress, but it turned out Kaiser was right! Matt Damon’s wife is expecting her third child with the Oscar winning hunk. Matt and Lucy are parents to three daughters: Isabella, 3, Gia, 19 months, and Alexia, 11, from Lucy’s first marriage. US Weekly has the news, along with some nice earlier quotes from proud dad Matt about what fatherhood means to him:

Matt Damon and his wife Luciana are expecting another baby, his rep confirms to UsMagazine.com exclusively…

Damon — who quietly wed Luciana at NYC City Hall in December 2005 — has credited his kids with keeping him grounded in Hollywood.

“It’s pretty easy to kind of lose your way… having kids is really helpful,” he told Parade magazine. “They kind of disabuse you of the notion of your greatness pretty quickly. There’s a routine that you get into with kids that precludes you from going back to your single days. I’m probably more boring than I used to be. I go to bed earlier and I get up earlier.”

He said he hopes his daughters take after their mother. “My wife is a very wise and a very thoughtful person. Hopefully, they’ll inherit that,” Damon said.

Added the actor (who supports charities including One, which fights AIDS and poverty in third world countries): “From me, I hope they’ll inherit a sense of social justice and a desire to continue some of those programs that I’m involved with. Maybe not those exact ones, but hopefully, something to further social justice.”

[From US Weekly]

I wonder how far along Lucy is, as she didn’t look pregnant at all to me a month ago. It’s hard to tell with the dress she was wearing, though. One quote of Matt’s that US doesn’t mention is a funny reference he made last year to the fact that he’s the only male in a household of girls. He said “I live with women and girls so I don’t have control over anything.” Matt has that in common with his old friend Ben Affleck, and the National Enquirer ran a story last year that the two of them were suffering from “estrogen overload.” I bet Matt is hoping for a boy, but imagine he’ll be thrilled with another girl too. Congratulations to Matt and Lucy on their upcoming arrival!

  1. Kaiser says:

HA! Called it. I think it was her boobs, that’s what made me think she was knocked up. I bet she’s in her second trimester by now, if they’re announcing it.

  2. Chelly says:

Man did she hit the jackpot…lucky.

    O, & congrats…yeah yeah yeah.

  3. Mairead says:

    Awww yay for them 😀

  4. bite me says:

love them… matt is such a great actor

  5. TG says:

How can you be hoping for one and then be thrilled if it is the other sex? Seems like some disappointment would come with that. Hopefully he paid to ensure it was a boy so they can stop having kids.

I am probably just in a bad mood right now but I can’t stand when a couple has a bunch of girls and they either get the boy or end up with another girl and it is so obvious that they had that third child (usually the third one) to try to get a boy. If she is so wise than how did she end up divorced? I don’t know much about her first daughter’s father, but I thought he wasn’t in her life, I could be wrong though.

  6. Joan says:

That is nice to hear! Congratulations to them! 🙂

  7. canadianchick says:

Congrats-they make a lovely family together and lucky him to be amidst an estrogen fest-hope they have lots of bathrooms.

  8. lena says:

@ TG what in the hell??? LOL yes you are in bad mood…it’s common for people to hope the baby is a certain sex, doesn’t mean it will be less loved. And her being wise has nothing to do with her being divorced, LOL…you need a nap or something.

  9. Q says:

Love the dress, love Matt Damon and his lovely fam. Shutting down internets now before something comes along to ruin the glow.

  10. Obvious says:

@TG lol, bad mood or not you’ve made me smile today even though i don’t agree with anythign you’ve said.

  11. krissy_kitty says:

Get ready for the announcement from Ben and Jen in 3…2…1.

  12. Praise St. Angie! says:

I think his wife is so beautiful! Those eyes and that hair…to DIE for!

congrats to them both. I sure hope that the seemingly great family man in THIS relationship doesn’t turn out to be a douche like so many others. (think Tiki…)

  13. meme says:

and then the announcement from Brangelina either pregnant or purchasing.

  14. sharylmj says:

love this couple! they seem real.. Congrats!!

  15. L says:

It’s like when my cousin (who has 5 girls) is asked if he wants another child so there’s a boy. His response? “that would suggest that I’m not happy with the family that I have”

So yea, I’m sure Matt’s hoping for a boy, but would be happy with a new member of the family either way.

  16. bite me says:

purchasing, children..that a really crass thing to say…and meme since the colored children are purchased those that mean they can be returned

  17. TG says:

@Lena – I meant to imply that if she has a baby daddy that is MIA than she is not wise. Getting divorced doesn’t necessarily make you unwise but choosing a bad father does.

I have always liked Matt and they seem cool together, I am just in a bad mood today that’s all. I am happy for them as long as they aren’t just trying for that coveted boy. I just can’t stand how people treat the son like a freaking prince and the girls are just extra. Of course not everyone is this way. But, I have seen in too often.

  18. Huma says:

    They’re such a sweet couple.

Sometimes, Lucy looks average (like a Hollywood average, which is normal person ‘very pretty’) and sometimes she looks gorgeous. She looks absolutely gorgeous in those pics with the blue dress.

  19. Rose says:

“Lena – I meant to imply that if she has a baby daddy that is MIA than she is not wise. Getting divorced doesn’t necessarily make you unwise but choosing a bad father does.”
wow, just wow, so she cannot have learned from her experiences? She can not have matured and grown as a person? Give me a break. I’m guessing Matt knows his wife a hell of a lot better than you do.

  20. Feebee says:

As someone who has 2 daughters and a baby boy I hope they have a boy too. All babies are precious wonders but it’s so cool to be lucky enough to have both sexes to wonder at. Having said that we’d love our third no less if he had been a she.

  21. Kim says:

meme Were Sharon Stone blonde, blue eyed boys purchased too or Marie Osmonds 5 kids. What about Hugh Jackman , Diane Keaton, Edie Falco Speilberg , Mary Louise Parker…

  22. lucy2 says:

Congrats to them! They seem like a happy family. Matt’s career is going well, but it seems like he balances that and family well. I also have to respect that he manages to keep his private life pretty private.

I think it’s cute they have all girls. I’m sure they’ll all be thrilled with a boy or girl this time.

  23. Tia C says:

I really like him a lot, and they appear to be a great couple. He lucked out meeting her. They seem to complement each other well.

Having said that, I can’t help but wonder – does she do anything else in life besides breed? OK, TG – there’s MY bad mood comment, lol…

  24. JenWind says:

My hubby and I have 2 girls wouldn’t change it for the world, even though I know my hubs would have loved a boy. He is proud to have all girls in the house. He even told me the other day that whenever he thinks he wants a boy he just has our neighbors boy over for half an hour and that urge is gone for good!

I am happy for them. They make a great couple, and he sounds like a fantastic father! Make sme like him even more!

  25. SolitaryAngel says:

Love Matt, was skeptical of the pairing at first but they seem to be a sweet family and I’m very happy for them! <3

  26. Crash2GO2 says:

@TG: I’ve equally seen it the other way: Boy after boy when the couple longed for the ‘last one’ to be a girl. Just dying for those little girl clothes, toys and ribbons…

  27. Taya says:

    TG5…

Actually Luciana got knocked up by some guy after she moved to Miami. Barroso is actually her former married name. Luciana spent the next how many years bartending in Miami and partying it up and screwing every guy around, while her family raised her daughter Alexia because she basically abandoned her. She did hit the jackpot when she got knocked up again by Matt Damon. Luciana was not at all this great mother to her first daughter. From what I hear Luciana just pretended to be one to Matt Damon. Actually it is really sad when you think abou it. And yes, this is all true.

Hopefully Luciana grew up or she has many nannies to do her job for her.

  28. Miranda Ann says:

TG, from what I’ve read, the first husband is very much in his daughter’s life and so are the father’s parents.

  29. Maritimer says:

As someone who is not a mother, I am only making assumptions here — but I think most couples that I know who have a few daughters and are ‘hoping for a boy’, are not saying they would be unhappy if it were a girl, nor would they love or treat her any different (that is a ridiculous comment IMHO)…it is just they would like to experience and enjoy the difference that comes along with raising a boy. Not to mention, you can’t deny that when a man has a great father-son relationship with his own dad, they can’t help but dream of having the same one day with their own son. Just my thoughts.

  30. Heaven-bound says:

    @ Taya

It makes a lot of sense now what you have said. I have read from people who actually know her in high school and when she lived in California and Miami that she did not like school and she did not like to work, so she always had a man to take care of her. Sorry ladies, I might get some backlash for this one, but she seems “kind of phony” to me. She has done a great job of cleaning up, with out make up she’s pretty homely.

And Matt loves those stripers, before Matt and Ben got married they have a track record of going around to strip joints. She’s just making sure to secure her future having all those kids. She seems very uneducated as well. And they seem to be away from their kids a lot.

  31. mouth.like.a.sailor says:

good lord, between them and Mark Wahlbergs wife i feel like SOMEONE is ALWAYS pregnant.

  32. lana says:

Sorry but they are not good parents. Lucy constantly abandons her daughter so she can drag Damon’s two kids onto movie sets for months at a time and then on movie junkets. She never misses a red carpet or a party. They are always photographed with nannies. Just this weekend Matt took ONE of his kids to the Lion King and he took a nanny! Also, Lucy’s kid always looks miserable. I feel bad for her she must be so lonely – especially after they moved her 3,000 miles away from her father and all her friends to accommodate MATT.

  33. Taya says:

    Heaven-bound….lana…

I agree, her older daughter always looks very depressed. They both seem very phony and not good parents to me too.

I think that the public thinks that Lucy is this wonderful mother and wife just because she is married to Damon, the movie star. They both seem like idiots to me.

  34. Kelaa Khaa says:

After reading some of these comments I feel bad for the girl but hope that Matt is treating her the same as the bio daughters. I have a feeling they may have a boy, maybe twins?

  35. frenchie says:

I have 2 boys and really hope for a girl to follow. If I had a girl and a boy there wouldn’t be a try for a third one. I want a girl, although I adore my boys, just to have diversity, because sometimes it’s a little bit too much noise, car tractors… with only boys. It would bring balance to the household. And I know the relationship won’t be as close with boys than with a girl when they will be grown up. She would be my little princess !…

  36. saintdevil says:

She better have a boy, or she can go right back to “cocktail-waitressing”!

  37. Scout says:

I love Matt as an actor – always have and probably always will. I really knew very little, if anything, about his wife or their family. After reading some of these posts, I am so disappointed if this stuff about bad parenting, etc. is really true! He’d still be a great actor, but somehow, I would view him diferently. And that makes me sad because I really thought he was as great a person (albeit his liberal political views are far from my own.) 🙁

  38. nnn says:

    @ Meme

Have you seen the new baby that Sandra Bullock has just collected ?

I am sure you will have so many beautiful things to say about her new collection. Maybe it will even give ideas to jennifer and her future collection in years to come, we never know.

  39. canadianchick says:

  40. cara says:

I always thought matt should be married to hilary Swank.
    They look very much alike,imo
This couple doesn’t look good together

  41. winnie says:

I have always thought she was one of the luckiest girls. She was a single mom working as a bartender and met Matt Damon. Now they are married with kids. He seems like a great dad. Every time i see him on tv he talks about his 3 daughters…not his stepdaughter and daughters. He refers to her daughter as “his”. Nice couple.
