Jamie Lynn’s wedding plans

Jamie Lynn Spears is pregnant and officially engaged, all at the tender young age of 17 (as of this Friday). The actress was spotted wearing an engagement ring a little over a week ago, and since then fiancé Casey Aldridge’s cousin (and a few of Jaime Lynn’s friends) have confirmed the impending nuptials. OK! claims to have several exclusives on Jaime Lynn’s wedding plans – though of course we have to wait until it’s on newsstands for all of the specifics.

OK says Jamie Lynn will wait until after the baby is born to marry Casey. Her friends speculate that she’ll want to set the date several months after the birth so that she can get her figure back in order to wear her perfect wedding dress. There’s also a bit of talk about her dream wedding – though something tells me that in Jamie Lynn’s dreams, her wedding was never supposed to happen quite so soon – and probably not with her new baby at the ceremony.

The Zoey 101 star is expecting her first baby in late June with boyfriend Casey Aldridge, and is happily riding out the last months of her pregnancy with Casey by her side. After announcing her pregnancy exclusively to OK! in December, Britney Spears’ little sis has been busy lying low in her hometown of Kentwood, La. As OK! was the first to report, Jamie Lynn and a cousin recently registered for her baby shower at a Babies ‘R’ Us store in the nearby city of Baton Rouge.

And those closest to Jamie Lynn tell OK! the teen plans to stay true to her small-town roots, most likely exchanging vows with Casey in Kentwood at “Serenity,” the estate owned by Britney — who obviously leads the list of possible bridesmaids. “She’ll have the baby there, and soon after, she will also get married there,” says a pal of the teen. “I expect she’ll want to wait at least several months to get her figure back so she can wear a beautiful wedding gown and then have her dream wedding.”

[From OK!]

You can’t help but worry for anyone who gets married at 17. And to be fair, you can’t help but worry for anyone who has a baby at 17. Putting the two together seems like a lot of pressure on such a young couple. They’re certainly better off financially than any other 17-year-old couple I’ve ever heard of, but money doesn’t equal maturity. Hopefully Jamie Lynn’s got a better head on her shoulders than some of her family members… or will at least hire a very, very qualified nanny.

Not to be too cynical, but why bother to wait until the baby is born and have a lavish wedding? The odds of it surviving are not in their favor anyhow!

  2. ER says:

I mean the odds of their MARRIAGE suriving are not in their favor!

If she really is getting married than she is making an even bigger mistake. Maybe they care about each other but they are still very young and feelings change and when it does then the worst thing would be when their child is placed in the middle.

having a baby changes everything…and it´s tough for any couple. it puts a lot of pressure on a marriage or relationship, it claims a lot of surrender. i wish them all the best, but i don´t think it´s gonna last. even marriages of ten years can fall apart after a baby is born when the parents can´t accept the changes…on the other hand there are people who manage just fine. dunno.
    she´s 17 still and puberty is a tough time…plus a baby… i can´t even imagine the emotional stress

I agree anonymous… marriage at 17 isn’t a good idea. Marriage at 21 isn’t a good idea!! You do so much changing between 16 and 26… and chances are you’ll change and grow apart.

I mean I wish her the best, but in all liklihood this isn’t going to end well.

i’ve said it before and i’ll say it again. The only thing worse than a pregnant 16 (17) year old is a preganant and MARRIED 16 (17) year old.

God, is she eating? How far along is she? I mean, I know she’s young and thin to begin with, but she should have quite a belly and some fat in her face by now. Sorry, I just worry.

Wut ya’ll mean bout that? That’s purfectly acceptabul here in the South! In fact, if you ain’t married by 19, yur an old maid!

  9. Anna says:

Poor, foolish Jamie Lynn *shakes head* I would like to believe this all goes well, but come on, who would I be fooling? And she always looks so serious and stressed and worried in the pics we see of her (I’d be too)… poor thing.

I can only hope they’ll first try to live together once the baby is born.
Romance does not exist once you’re a young parent trying to feed the child, try to find out why he/she can’t stop crying, taking care of the small child (diapers, physical and mental learning, etc.) and manage to find some time in between to take a long nice hot bath once a week, get back in shape (for the mother, that is), return to some kind of sex life, etc.

    Good luck.

Oh, and I want those sunglasses! Although I hate the glasses + sunglasses combination.

i know im getting off the topic but in this picture shes looking a lot like britney( all beat up, dirty, stressed, & the hair… oh the hair).

  12. Cindy Kennedy says:

Living together first won’t change anything.

  13. Cindy Kennedy says:

Some people don’t believe in living together before marriage.

And living together before marriage is not the only way or the best way to do things.

  14. anonymous says:

Um, once you’re already pregnant the living together vs getting married first is really sort of a moot point…

  15. Anonymous says:

Living together gives you (or supposed to)an idea of what is really like living with your partner without having the restrictions of marriage and the difficulty to divorce when the couple chose to separate. Personably, from my own experience, I feel that cohabiting gives you more freedom to be able to chose if YOU really want to be with your partner, rather then have to because of your marriage vows.

Goldie Hawn (who I greatly admire) was recently interviewed and was ask, again, why would they not marry and she respondent that when she wakes up in the morning she and Kurt Russell both have the freedom to walk away from their relationship when ever they want to and the reason it is so successful after many years together is because they choose to be with one another with out the pressure of having to. Now, some people might not agree with this for what ever reason and I am not sure I am getting my point across clearly but comparing to my experience of having seen so many marriages that do not work because people change even after years together and they are so miserable being in that relationship with the only thing keeping them still together is their marriage vows and not wanting the hassle of the divorce and many other reasons. In todays society, people have so many options in their career and personal life, so people tend to change constantly and this unfortunately does not do any favors in creating a successful marriage.

Of course there are plenty of marriages out there that work and I am just giving my personal opinion.

PS. Sorry if I talk for too long. I am a little tipsy after just one glass of red wine, weird I know. lol

Aside from my reasoning that the only reasons to get married nowadays is for a green card or insurance. Couples should marry because THEY WANT TO not for society, not for the mother in law(s), not for the dress or the party. Do it because both of you want it .

  17. Bryn says:

Jesus…why are they getting married?? That seems like the worst possible idea…to put it into perspective (for me anyways), I am 17 myself and I just broke up with my boyfriend (also 17). he didnt want to be in a relationship (cold feet) but it lasted for a while and we both genuinely said we loved each other often…The reality is at 17 you are too young and inexperienced to know and find “the one” and TRUE love that you will be with for the rest of your life.

    daisy, I totally agree.

ur a loser- big difference between brit and jamie– jamie is acceptably covered up! no flashing too much flesh. also, her clothes look sparkling clean and fresh!

and while i totally agree with everyone who’s filled with trepidation at the thought of a 17 year old momma standing at the altar. have to point out that women through out the ages have done what they needed to do. some baby-women successfully raise children, either alone or with the daddy. hope she’s one of the strong ones who can make it.

  21. Ur A Loser says:

    good point journey.
