I have to admit, I have a big secret (until now) crush on Neil Patrick Harris. If there were any man I could turn from gay to straight (and then make him fall in love with me, which would be a part of this magic wish) it’d be Neil. Or maybe Anderson Cooper. But probably Neil. But since he doesn’t check in with me to verify MY needs, he remains gay. Which I guess I have to live with. But my crush remains.

While Ellen DeGeneres and her girlfriend Portia De Rossi are making wedding plans, another famous out of the closet star, Neil Patrick Harris, is on the fence about tying the knot himself.
When it comes to gay marriage in California, Neil told OK!, “Oh I’m all for it! Big fan!” But when asked if he saw himself as a married man, he said, “I don’t know. If I did, no one would know about it ’til after I got married.”
Hmm, is that a hint? Neil, 35, has been in a long term relationship with Broadway actor David Burtka,33. In 2006, the How I Met Your Mother star told fans, “I am quite proud to say that I am a very content gay man living my life to the fullest.”
Neil has also told OK! that he’d love to have children one day. “I think I’d make a good dad,” he recently said. So, maybe there will be kids in the near future for Neil but as of now there will be no wedding bells… yet!

It took all of my restraint not to offer to carry Neil Patrick Harris’ child after that last sentence. But I am totally calm now. Jokes aside, Neil and David are super cute together. They’ve been together since 2004, and according to Wikipedia, Neil “refers to Burtka as ‘My better half’ and an ‘amazing chef.’” Aww. Something tells me they’ll end up taking the plunge too… albeit in secret, as mentioned.

I totally think he should get married. Him and his Partner are a beautiful, healthy couple. But I guess marriage isnt for everyone. I wish them the absolute best nontheless.

They are adorable. However, I think if they wish to be married or anyone else for that matter, gay, straight, best of breed they should be allowed. This is NOT the country that should be denying civil liberties and rights to anyone. Sort of the ideals we were founded on liberty and justice for all…not just straight people.

I hope gay marriage becomes legal everywhere…but, I agree that just because it’s legal, does not mean that every gay couple needs to rush out and tie the knot just to celebrate the fact that they can.
Marriage needs a lot of thought, I think, for ANY couple. So I hope NPH and DB make that committment only when they are ready, with no pressure.

Actually, when I saw Obama on “Ellen” what he was pushing was that gay people could have some kind of legally binding relationship, but not actually call it “marriage”. I disagree with that and think it’s really quite insulting (Ellen was remarkably gracious on the show). If his views have changed since I saw that show, I haven’t heard about it.
(BTW, I am not American, so this is not a for-or-agianst Obama as President, but rather a clarification of his views on gay marriage).
I was also disappointed with Obama’s stance on gay marriage, but he is being politic. He would lose a lot of the center if he came out for it — certainly his administration would be much more friendly to LGBT folks then the current one or McCain.

i watched the democratic candidates being interviewed on LOGO (pretty much the only remaining LGBT tv station in the US) during a special on LGBT rights. The only candidate who supported full gay marriage rights was Kucinich. Obama supports something akin to civil unions, which while it’s a step in the right direction, it’s still an issue of separate but equal when in fact we should not be treated any differently.
although, it may be an issue of electability within his platform. i doubt Obama would have the same chances at the presidency if he fully supported gay marriage. it’s a sad truth about large sections of the American voting public that they would not vote for a candidate who supported gay marriage.
after writing all of this up, it seems a little superfluous. so sorry for the slightly off-topic ramblings. 🙂
How can you possibly say Obama is for gay rights when he has repeatedly said he’s against gay marriage? His position is no different than McCain’s – they both feel gays should be allowed to enter into a legally binding contract of some sort, but neither of them supports gay marriage. Since you say everything that McCain advocates is evil, you must be thinking that Obama’s position on this is evil too.
Take off your blinders – the Democratic party machine has done the absolute minimum that is necessary to keep gays pulling the lever for them. Clinton promised full military acceptance of gays, then stuck them with the sham that is ‘Don’t ask, don’t tell’, and then signed the Defense of Marriage Act. I’d feel better about Obama possibly pushing through some sort of civil union for gays if he were full-on advocating gay marriage, as it is he’s only going to end up falling somewhat short of his campaign promises.
TVF again, do your research. You sound very uneducated. Unless you are gay STFU. In a competition against Obama and McCain, OBAMA has come out and praised gay families.
