I used to think that The Situation was somewhat cleverly crafting his media image, like he was playing up the douche angle and making himself into a parody of a self-obsessed, selfish user gym rat in order to move merchandise. Now that I’ve read some of the truly terrible jokes he cracked at Donald Trump’s roast I’m not so sure. Like even if someone else wrote these for him, there’s no excuse for repeating them and they weren’t funny to boot. He made dumb, unnecessary references to slavery and to Marlee Matlin being deaf and he didn’t even weave in personal stuff about The Donald like you’re supposed to do for a roast. As a result most of his routine was cut from the broadcast. You can read what he said on TMZ, I don’t want to recap it at all.
The stuff that was left was equally bad, but not quite as offensive, as you can see from the video above. It’s disjointed and painful to watch and they should have just cut out the Situation’s part entirely. [via DListed]
Roasts are supposed to be obnoxious, they’re not supposed to be offensive on a level that is uncalled for. The late Greg Giraldo was such a pro at ripping on people using things we know about them and never stepping over that line. The Situation needs to take a step back and I hope that this puts a damper on some of the countless crap he’s trying to sell. Maybe he really is just an asshole and an unfunny one to boot.

@ Quest totally agree Omfg I watched the show and I saw the situations part and he sucked. It was so uncomfortable to watch there were times you could hear crickets chirping or people booing him this other comedian had to step up and “save him” from himself. It was bad!!!!
If this is not a case of over exposure for him, I don’t know what is. He needs to sit back and re evalate what he plans to do and get rid of the dilhole who told him doing a roast is smart. Now that he knows that everythin he touches is not gold, just stop.
Before “reality tv” at least the ass hats we glorified had some talent. Now you can be mildly charismatic train wreck and get rich and famous for it.
I think Craftsmen should hire him with the slogan, “A tool for every Situation”.
Why the F was this no-name douche at a celebrity roast anyway? especially for someone as famous (love him or hate him, Trump is world-famous) as the Donald?
His jokes were painful, and that “glasses-slid-down-the-nose-so-you-can-look-over-the-tops-of-them” look is SO F-ING STUPID!

First off-why was the Donald getting roasted?
I actually caught this show, and he was awful. So awful I almost felt bad for him, but then it got worse. I had to fast forward through him. Worse still was that the other folks were cracking jokes about his lack of talent the rest of the evening, and he thought they were kidding. Oh my. Worse, he kept laughing and hitting Snoop like he was in on the joke. No freakin way man-back off the Snoop.
Snoop dog though? Hilarious.

I didn’t see the roast. I wanted to watch it. However, it’s sad that Greg Giraldo is gone. He was a roastmaster indeed. And now…I’ve read the Situation joke transcripts…and my skin is crawling. I’m uncomfortable just reading that mess.

To be clear, it’s quite normal for the other roasters get it just as bad as the roastee at these events.

Yeah, I watched it, and I can tell you there was A LOT of ‘inappropriate’ comments. Old situation flopped because nobody liked him. It was painful to watch but he took it up the arse with a smile lol.
I’m pretty sure that they ONLY invited the Situation so the other roasters had someone to pick on. There’s a lot of material to write jokes for about the Jersey Shore. By him being there it was like an open invitation to pick on the show. They have to have new faces up on the stage. If they only invite the same roasters over and over they run out of material because none of them are in the news frequently enough for scandalous events. If the Situation has terrible jokes, who cares? Everyone else had a good laugh at his expense which is kind of the way roasts go in their own brutal way. They couldn’t have possibly expected him to be funny.
Don’t get me wrong, I think this guy is an absolute douche, but tell me, where are the writers standing up to defend this guy. If you think he actually wrote this material, you’re a delusional as he is.
It is just so disgusting that America gives these complete LOSERS their own shows and rewards them for being complete MORONS.

Well, Seth Macfarlane was great and Lisa Lampenelli was scathingly funny as usual. Lost interest after that.

From what I read on TMZ, The Situation thought he did great at the roast. Now how is that for being effing delusional? In his mind he thinks he is the greatest dancer, lover, friend and comedian. Whether or not that material was written for him by someone else, I would THINK one would have the insight to know making jokes about slavery or disability is not cool. Douche.
i actually watched this Roast [as I do most roasts – i love snark!] and he was TERRIBLE… the look of “WTF is this?” was clearly etched on everyone’s face… it was so embarassingly hilarious

Donald Trump said this roasting was being donated for charity…and Jersey Shore “cartoon” characters are in…everywhere.
The “Shituation” is to say the least not quite attraction somewhat Popeyeish and he has short longs with a long torso and he waddles when he walks !! Seriously if you ever watch that show..
You don’t have to be talented to be famous now a days…they are all over TV, cable, all types of media. They are the insects, that if a nuclear bomb was dropped, they would survive into another spectacle. 15 Minutes of fame no longer exist, it has been dragged into year(s)of mind numbing WHY ! WHY!

This was absolutely brutal to watch. Honestly, I think the main issue people had with him is that he was out of place – he is by no means a comedian, was clearly nervous – and if you have ever been to a live open mic, the comedians who get up there with a ball of nerves get eaten alive by the audience. His jokes weren’t great – and while I don’t believe for two seconds he wrote them, neither did Larry King who still pulled off his bit with some humor. This guy is too big for his ‘sitches’ and needs to take a step back. He and his agent should never have agreed to this – its a no brainer that he was invited for his name and not his talent.
Marlee, Lisa, and Snoop were laugh out loud funny – overall, a pretty awesome roast in my opinion.

If *I* were the writer of those crass ‘jokes‘, I wouldn’t be rushing to claim credit, either. xD I’m sure you’re right that he didn’t write them (or not ‘by himself’ at least), but they were so suited to his played-out-douchelord personality, that I’m still inclined to blame him personally.
I know it’s a roast, & rude/scathing/crass jokes are par for the course. But there’s still a point where you can go too far. The ‘Snoop Dogg’s ancestors were property‘ comment is a perfect example of that. I have a pretty good sense of humor, even when some of it is ‘mean spirited’ (as it so often is these days)… But there are some topics that immediately turn me off. The Holocaust, Slavery, rape, referencing someone’s child.
