Aaron & Sam Taylor Johnson at the ‘Skyfall’ premiere: sexy or uncomfortable?

I’m sorry it’s so dead today, it’s kind of beyond our control. We just got hit with the perfect storm of boringness – no good gossip, no access to interesting photos, and CB and I keep gossiping to each other. So these are some additional photos from last night’s UK premiere of Skyfall. I missed these pics for no real reason, so I’m sorry. First up: Aaron Johnson (now Aaron Taylor Johnson) and Sam Taylor Wood (now Sam Taylor Johnson). He’s 22 years old, and I think his best years are ahead of him as far as looks go. Sam is 45 years old, and she’s starting to look very much like a mother of 4 in her 40s. I do wonder about them. But maybe the rules don’t apply when Sam is the one with all of the connections (she and Daniel Craig are tight) and when you can still get all dressed up in feathers for the premiere of the new James Bond movie. As for the feathers… I think it’s an ostrich-feather bolero jacket. Hand to God. And it’s terrible.

And guess who else was at the Skyfall premiere? Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall! Yes, Camilla wore an epic purple velvet sack dress that is just awful, and Charles just pointed at everything and everyone at the red carpet. I did see the actors greeting Charles and Camilla during the royal reception line, and everybody looked honored to be in Charles’ presence. Weird. Is Camilla wearing a heart-shaped ruby necklace?

They look cute. Glad he got rid of that mustache or whatever he was going for. I think they really love each other, good for them, to each his own.

    • Canda says:

The mustache was pretty bad, but at least it aged him a little. Without it, he’s clearly just out of his teens and looks like he’s bringing dear old mumsy to his movie premiere or something. If they love each other, that’s all well and good, but they LOOK like a mother escorting her little boy to a Hollywood event. In another 10 years it might not look so obvious, but bc he’s SO young looking and she’s much older and wears the strain of 4 children on her face, the age difference is so glaringly apparent that it’s creepy.

  2. Liz says:

I don’t think feathers and a large nose are a good combo. (coming from someone who has big nose!)

    • TheOriginalKitten says:

I didn’t want to snark on her appearance but that was my first thought as well. I kind of think these pics are just bad angles etc because I’ve seen her look much much better that this.

    • Samantha says:

As the bearer of a big nose myself,I wholeheartedly agree and also would recommend that she do something to her hair as well as it tends to ‘add’ to the accentuation of her nose rather than shift the attention away from it.

      • Chickie Baby says:

Hair AND makeup would be good! If you’re going to take the red carpet in an ensemble this dramatic, you better have the hair and makeup to go with it! Otherwise, that dress is wearing HER, instead of her looking like she truly owns it.

(The man needs a bit of a haircut, too, but that’s beside the point.)

  3. TheOriginalKitten says:

I guess I’m insecure/shallow because I could never date a guy that hot..he’s too pretty. I’d feel like crap about myself all the time.

They must be really in love. I wish them luck.

    • lizzi says:

LOL I totally agree with you. She’s old enough to be secure with herself, though I think. I hope I’m wrong, but I have a feeling the time will come when he will think “what did I miss out on???”.. as in enjoying his wild youth and sewing his oats so to speak. I would hit that until I passed out, he’s so hot. and my type 🙂

      • Esmom says:

I’m her age and I tell ya, she is livin’ the dream. But that’s the thing. Even in the highly unlikely event I found myself in the midst of an attraction with a guy his age, I would never act on it. I could not handle being the one who held him back from living a real young adult life, as convincing as he might be that he really wants marriage and kids at the age of 22!

      • The Original Tiffany says:

I don’t really get why you would even want to be with a man so young. I just don’t get it.

What is wrong with a 40 YO? Just as hot and hopefully more mature. If I got taken for my hubby’s mother, I would be mortified.

So yeah, it isn’t MY dream, but knock yourself out. I see no advantage to being with a boy-man-for me.

Also I have no words for Camilla-wow. Way to make yourself look 60 pounds heavier.

      • Esmom says:

It’s not really my dream either, to be clear. But it had to be ego boosting for her to know such a young and hot guy was attracted to her. I guess that’s what I really meant.

      • The Original Tiffany says:

I got you Esmom! I was really directing the you in that to you-it kind of looked that way, but I wasn’t. It was a general you. I was just kind of agreeing. I don’t think that it would make me comfortable to be with such a young dude. They can hit on me, I’ll get my kicks off that, but a real relationship? Not for me.

I would not act on it either! I’m with you on that for sure. Besides, I’m already married so it is a mute topic anyway. 🙂

    • emmie_a says:

Ha! That was my thought as well. Even if I was his age he’d make me feel bad about myself because he’s too good looking — I couldn’t imagine being older than him and comfortable within the relationship. Good for her – wish I had her confidence!

And usually I don’t like feathers and bows, but there’s something about the combination I’m liking — maybe because it’s such a muted color.

    • j.eyre says:

I would have the same thoughts. And I would probably begin far too many conversations with “are you sure you don’t want to go find some hot young thing more your age about now?” i hear that is kind of a mood-killer.

    • keats says:

Yeah, I have to be the prettier one in the relationship.

  4. Roxy says:

Never heard of that couple. I thought maybe it was his agent or mother. No, of course it’s not a hot-in-the-sack love match. It’s biznaz! He’s gettin’ it on the side, trust me. He’s good lookin’, she’s just old, (for him). No way will this last. You can tell he doesn’t want to be there, with her. But, o gawd, she knows PEOPLE, I have to!! For now…
And Camilla? LOL…velvet is no womans friend, that much velvet should be hanging on a curtain rod, in a whore house.

  5. someone says:

he’s so beautiful…i feel everyone has basically said what they wanted to say about these two, whether it’s good or bad. i’m just going to concentrate on his fantastic jaw structure and those eyes..can’t wait for kickass2 and anna karenina

  6. Amanda says:

Ew, this couple skeeves me out. Why were they even invited to the Skyfall premiere anyway?

  7. dee says:

He reached his peak at that Angus movie. He’s ugly now.

  8. KellyinSeattle says:

She looks like his mother, with that ratty hair. He reminds me of the brother on , “The New Adventures of Old Christine”.

    • Jennifer says:

^^^^ This! I didn’t know who they were and my first thought was some woman was treating her son like a surrogate husband. Blech!!!!

      • vanisland says:

OMG! This is my MIL. When I first met my husband, he did everything( to the exclusion of our own family) to make his mother happy. Even though she had remarried. Chopping wood, yard work etc. I soon put a stop to that. One thing to do that if you have the time, another thing altogether if you don’t have enough wood or time for dad to be with his own kids, because “mother” wants everything to be about her!Quite creepy really, when you realize that MIL is in love with her own son…

  9. Jay says:

Camilla makes me so mad. If Charles becomes King and she gets anywhere near the throne (rather than Charles abdicating in favour of William, which has been discussed), that might actually be the straw that breaks the monarchist camel’s back.

    • Liv says:

I find it amazing how they sneaked her in! I read somewhere that Charles was always like “No, no, I won’t marry her” – and then they married. Then he was like “No, no, she will never be queen” – and now he was quoted that it’s actually possible for her to become a queen. Really crazy.

    • Tapioca says:

I feel a bit for Charles – Camilla was his one true love and he couldn’t marry her because he (back then) couldn’t marry a divorcee, so they paired him up with Diana to spit out an heir and a spare.

I think it’s kind of sweet that they’re finally together, however awful the dress is!

    • CamColty says:

Camilla reminds me of Martha Stewart

  10. Apples says:

I give her a pass on the feathers because at least it is tone on tone with her dress and everything looks very expensive.

I would much rather see some festive feathers than cheesy appliqué swirls.

(I can not get over how quickly her body recovers after having babies.)

  11. dorothy says:

His wife needs in invest in some Spanx.

  12. JH says:

Sam T-W looks pissed. Super well connected or not, it must be brutal (on some level) to be with someone so much younger and so more beautiful.

    • D1 says:

Most male celebrities do not feel it’s brutal to date women who are much younger and much more physically attractive than they are; in fact, they revel in it & feel their accomplishments entitle them to do so.

Maybe she has the same attitude – seems like a much more enjoyable way to go through life than limiting your options due to your crippling insecurity, that’s for sure.

      • lafairy says:

        perfectly well said!

        Just spot on!

Maybe some woman value themselves inoff to ‘dare’ being way much more than just a specific appearance or a specific age.

  13. Booboocita says:

I’m not a big Camilla and/or Charles fan (hate adulterers, HAAAAATE), and that purple dress is one hot mess, but I have to admit, Camilla’s face doesn’t look too bad in the photos. She’s gained some weight in the past couple of years, and it’s plumped out some of her wrinkles and made her look rather less haggard than usual. Granted, the photos aren’t closeups, and that dress does nothing for her figure, but at least the color gently flatters her skin (IMO).

  14. another nina says:

I’ve never noticed that Chuck has bright blue eyes. I think he’s grown into his looks. I used to think that he was ugly and now both Harry and he looks cooler than pretty Will…

  15. Joan says:

What is up with Charles’ hands??? They are so swollen and red. (They look like a mix of leather and wax.) Ewwwwwww.

    • gab says:

Joan, I noticed his hands right away too! His fingers look all swollen and puffy like they’re about to explode. He and Camilla are SO gross to me. I can’t stand looking at them. It makes me feel kinda sick to my stomach.

    • Nikki says:

Yeah I know, I’ve noticed them before as well. I looked it up once and he has some sort of affliction, although I can’t remember what. Scary.

  16. KellyinSeattle says:

Prince Charles is such a wimp.

  17. ladybert62 says:

Dang, that woman needs a serious haircut – get thee to a hair stylist and get a decent haircut. Your hair is too fine (like mine) to be that long.

The feathers are horrible – I would like to see the dress underneath it but fear for the worst.

Camilla dress is so horrible it is beyond words.

Charles’ red face and nose makes him look like an alkie – but then I would be an alkie if I were married to that shrew.

    • Esmom says:

Yes, she seems to have the same hair as Goop, only not as well groomed.

Camilla’s necklace looks like it came from a gumball machine and her dress looks like a Laura Ashley prom dress my sister had in the 80s.

  18. Jess says:

There’s nothing sexy about her. I’m not going to pretend she’s hot just because she has a hot young husband. She’s unattractive by real world standards, not just Hollywood standards. Sorry.

    • D1 says:

      What a strange comment.

She doesn’t need to be hot, by “real world” standards or Hollywood standards.

She’s not a model or a Hollywood actress. She’s a film director and a photographer. Her career and professional success have never been dependent on her looks, sex appeal, or cute outfits, and she doesn’t promote herself as a great beauty or fashion icon.

It’s really weird how offended people seem to be that she’s not beautiful. I’ve never seen people on this site be this snide about the physical appearance of a director before.

      • Esmom says:

It’s the same kind of reaction that people seemed to have when Jen Aniston landed Brad Pitt. Offended at the lack of perceived equality in the looks department? I don’t know.

      • Jess says:

Kaiser asked, I just answered. Sorry.

      • D1 says:

@Esmom: People are only offended when the man’s physical attractiveness surpasses that of his female partner – a man can make up for his physical imperfections/old age and “earn” the right to a beautiful wife with his talent, professional success, wealth, etc.

Women supposedly can’t do that, since their youth & beauty are usually major determinants of their overall value as romantic partners. Sam Taylor-Johnson would be considered a real catch if she were a man. Since she’s a woman, people really can’t believe that her non-physical qualities could be enough to attract a young, good-looking guy.

      • Christina says:

        Agree completely.

People are fine with older woman-younger man relationships when the woman looks like Demi Moore or Sharon Stone. However, when the woman is average looking, and the man is beautiful, many an eyebrow is raised.

That said, I do find aspects of their relationship troubling. But I’d say the same if we were dealing with a hot young actress and a powerful 40-something male director.

    • Mitch Buchanan Rocks! says:

      Right on D1 🙂

  19. natalina says:

    what a disgrace

  20. Annie says:

I can’t with that woman. Insanely selfish to lure some kid into such a serious relationship (he was 19 when they started dating ffs!) when these are the years he should use to be free and learn to know himself. She’s past her prime and she wanted more babies and stability after having her own fun. She robbed him of those years that will never come back and of those experiences that you NEED to have.

If Rupert Sanders looked creepy so does she.

    • Esmom says:

I said something similar above. I think, no matter how strong the attraction, she should not have acted on it. Or at the very least not married and had kids with him!

  21. La Calabaza says:

    I really wish them well.

He seems to adore her. I wonder if he has some sort of mommy’s issues going on because he’s so young (22!) and his career is just taking off. He should be having fun and hitting some blond hollywood bimbo. Instead he is a loving father and husband. Disturbing and yet so endearing.

She needs to change her stylist ASAP. Her husband is hot and she shouldn’t look like a soccer mom no matter how old she is.

    • Mouse says:

I like that description of them, disturbing but endearing. As long as they’re happy, more power to ’em. Hollywood needs more happy couples!

  22. Marissa says:

I respect what he had to say about his relationship with Sam, his newfound role as “stepdad” to her kids, and his indifference about his age gap, but I still feel like this relationship won’t last. It’s becoming apparent that she’s OLDER than him, but to each his own…

  23. shaniqua nunyadambidness says:

Ooookay. So, I applaud the May/December romance here. Having said that, Sam could try a tad harder in the appearance department. Now, I’m aware she’s got 4 children. I get that. I’m sure she’s super busy with raising them and attending to her own career and interests. But, before a big night out with her BEEEEYOOOOTIFUL manfella, perhaps, she could wash/dye/condition her hair…maybe? And lipstick…maybe? And spanx or a less clingy gown…maybe? I just want to grab her up and take her to Walgreens for some emergency supplies. She’s quite lovely when she’s pregnant, because her face fills out. I mean, she’s got a distinctive look, but, a fuller face makes her strong (or not so strong, nod to the chin) features much more feminine. You know…almost as feminine as her lovely husband. I’m just sayin… I wouldn’t have the ego or the self-confidence to date a younger man that was 3 times prettier than I was. And more power to her for not just dating him, but marrying him and birthing a couple of his chiltren. But, damn. She could try a little harder, especially, on a fancy night out with Arm Candy in a tux.

  24. Steeze says:

    i dunno, this couple just… i cant.

she seems likes a predator and he seems strange.

whatever, they can do what they want…

im curious though… What happens when shes 70 and hes 50??? or 60 and 40??? my parents are 50 and my grandparents are in their 70s and let me tell you, theres a hell of a difference. looks wise, mobility wise, everything wise!

  25. Meg says:

I think she looks fine. She seems like a lovely and confident person and I find that attractive. These 2 will last much longer than people expect and I don’t think there’ll be much regret on either side when it’s over.
People are too stuck on looks.

    • Esmom says:

It’s more than just looks. Just one example, at her age and with four kids, she mostly likely isn’t — or can’t be — a night owl. And most people his age I know are just firing up to go at 10:00 pm.

      • Gigi says:

He’s defintely the more reserved one in the relationship.
From what I’ve seen of her, she just lives her life to the fullest because of what she’s been through, I doubt there’s that great of a difference between them.

  26. lower-case deb says:

i keep cracking up about her surnames.

somewhere in this whole wide universe, there’s gotta be a proverb “leaves the wood for the johnson”.

  27. bluhare says:

Camilla looks like an eggplant wearing the Titanic necklace.

  28. mkyarwood says:

I’ve always hated Charles’ hands but they look especially fat boy in the plum pie here.

  29. spinner says:

My husband was 19 when we met. I was just coming out of a divorce with a young daughter at age 27. We met in my own apartment thru a mutual friend. It was so strange. We fell in love at first sight & he pursued me relentlessly. I ran away from him because of the age difference. He was/is devastatingly handsome. I felt so old but he convinced me & true love won out. That was many years ago & we are still so in love. I don’t even think of the age difference any more. I realize their age gap is much greater but back when this happened to me, it was less accepted than today.

    • Christina says:

But were you this man’s boss when you met and fell in love? Did you start a family with him when he was still a teenager?

It’s not so much the age difference (vast though it is) which makes Aaron and Sam’s relationship questionable – it’s the power differential and the fact that it led him to take on so much responsibility when he was barely out of adolescence.

    • hopperlea says:

There is a big difference between 8 years and 22 years. An 8 year age difference is no big deal. And you were both still young when you met. You were not 40 dating a teenager who still lived with his parents. Huge difference. Having fun and screwing around is one thing. Making him a husband and dad to 4 kids at 22 is another.

    • TheOriginalKitten says:

I took Spinner’s comment not as her saying it’s the SAME situation as Aaron & Sam Taylor but as a comment about the overpowering lure of being in love. Meaning, the pull between the two of them was so strong that any apprehension about whether they were an “ideal match” was thrown out the window.

Actually, I thought it was a sweet story 🙂

      • spinner says:

awwww…thanks & you are correct with what I was trying to say. There are some things that happen in your life that are just so powerful that you know you have to participate. If you don’t, your life is not complete & you know it. I do think it is that way with Aaron & Sam.

  30. KitKat says:

He’s dreamy..! & i applaud you for following ur heart, Spinner. I’m in a similar situation myself right now, but it took me a while to stop talking myself out of it & just go w/my gut. So glad I did. He’s one of the best things that have happened to me in a long while… We’ll see how it all turns out.

  31. DeltaJuliet says:

Am I the only one who doesn’t see ANYTHING handsome about this guy? Nice blue eyes and all but that’s about it.

  32. original almond says:

I’m too skeeved out by her, as I would be by a 40 year old dude dating a 22 year old woman. She doesn’t get a pass because she’s a woman.

  33. pfeiffer87 says:

omw. Camilla should take notes from Judi.

  34. Mouse says:

Sam and Aaron are really growing on me. Camilla looks like she pulled a Scarlett O’Hara.

  35. Janet says:

Did Camilla have that dress made from the palace curtains?

The color is ugly on her. The style is all wrong on anyone. She looks like a spavined, broken-down cart horse.

  36. chalkdustgirl says:

I want to touch his hair.

  37. dot says:

His posing is a bit Zoolanderish…

  38. Lotta says:

Does Prince Charles have clubbing of the nails? I googled his hands and in some pictures it seems like he does.

  39. tru tru says:

she needs to make more of an effort, when you have a younger husband like that..be on to of your game. FACIALLY, she looks like they are going to the movies or something.

    she could have looked better

  40. Christina says:

I was not much up on my Aaron Johnson gossip because he creeps me out. He looks like a greasy douche. Anyways, I have seen pics here and there of him with her and I thought it was his mom. I usually like guys with curly hair, but his looks like it smells. I don’t know what it is about him, just don’t like him. His facial hair was atrocious before. He is so young that the middle of his mustache doesn’t even grow. I don’t care too much about the age difference, it is their business. On another note, Prince Charles hands do look really weird!

  41. Bunny23 says:

Aaron Johnson, the most beautiful man to ever exist on this planet. Long or short hair, straight or curly, facial hair or clean shaven. It doesn’t matter. I will never tire of that face or those eyes.

  42. Detroitsas says:

Wow, could Aaron pose more? I remember seeing shots of him and Taylor Kitsch doing promo work for Savages and you could tell Taylor found Aaron’s posing funny.
