Cameron Diaz posts makeup free pic, promotes her new self help “Body Book”

diazbodybook
E! Online points us to this flattering Instagram pic of Cameron Diaz, 41, without makeup and looking gorgeous. TIL: That Cameron Diaz is on Twitter.

Cameron is holding a copy of her first book, The Body Book: The Law of Hunger, the Science of Strength, and Other Ways to Love Your Amazing Body. About a year and a half ago we heard she was working on this book, so she’s probably put some time and effort into it. The book is said to be focused on satiating hunger with nutrient rich foods and focusing on health, fitness and the science behind it, not thinness.

Cameron is super fit that’s for sure, but she’s claimed that she eats junk food and has a beer in the morning to cure hangovers. Maybe her old misconceptions make her more qualified to speak on these matters. It’s not like she’s only eating gluten-free vegan food or telling us to drink juice for a week to lose weight. She used to eat junk and she’s probably learned how poorly that made her feel. Cameron’s book is coming out December 31, just in time for New Year’s resolutions.

As for how she looks without makeup, she’s lovely. (Update: I forgot how she messed with her face a while back as MrsB commented because she looks so natural here. She must have stopped the injections after that.) I have light eyelashes and I don’t go out without mascara, so I’m jealous of everyone with darker eyelashes who can pull off the makeup free look. Kaiser is like that, she doesn’t need it. I’m not convinced that Cam is entirely makeup free here, though. (It’s not like she’s claiming to be, but E! is saying she is.) She may be doing that “tightliner” trick that gives a more natural look.

Here’s Cameron’s tweet that accompanied her Instagrammed photo, above. She may be one of the few celebrities who does Twitter right. She’s definitely got enthusiasm.

I think she looks adorable. She has the most amazing eyes-Siberian Husky blue.

    • blue marie says:

She really is, and I’ll probably at least check her book out, might even buy it.

    • lana86 says:

      yep

    • Grace Under Pressure says:

She’s really gorgeous. I once saw her in person (years ago) and she was striking. Very tall, very thin, and her eyes are the lightest blue.

    • elkiddo says:

She is adorable and i always have a soft spot for her; but i also almost always think that she looks way older than her age.

      • TheOriginalKitten says:

She’s 40 right? She looks her age to me. She’s obviously someone who moves her face a lot and is very expressive so she’s not going to be line-free, ya know?

Personally, I’d take her face, lines and all, over KK’s rubber mask any day.

      • joy says:

Her expressiveness does make her both pretty and interesting to me. Her personality is dynamic and kinetic, as is her face…lines and all. Age becomes a non-issue.

      • elkiddo says:

I don’t mean to give offense, it is just that I am Asian, and i believe Asian women aged better than caucasian women. But most caucasian women i know seem to age better than our Cammy at 40. I still find her stunning, of course, wrinkles, lines and all add to her charm.

And yes, we are on the same page over the KK vs. Cammy thingy 🙂

      • Green Girl says:

I always think she’s older than she is, just because she’s been working for so long. I am always like “Wait, how old is she, again?!?” I feel the same way about Angelina Jolie and I’m always surprised when I remember how old she is.

      • Decloo says:

Agree. I love her but to me she looks like she’s pushing 50. I bet she tanned a lot in her youth and maybe was/is a smoker?

    • booboobird says:

my son has the same kind of ice blue eyes. everyone always notices. funny, that nobody else on either side of our families has eyes that colour. just the regular grayish blue.

    • claire says:

She does. She looks great. I had thought she was aging badly by a few photos I’d seen, but this confirms those were maybe just bad pics.

  2. MrsB says:

She looks great. For awhile there her face was looking pretty jacked up from whatever she was doing to it. Seems like she’s laid off of it thank goodness. Natural is better!

  3. Rhea says:

I like that she seems clear about what type of life that she wants and mostly keeps her life private. She seems fun to be around. 🙂

  4. Aiobhan says:

She really is a beautiful woman. I won’t be following her on twitter as I have found I need to keep the barrier up between me an celebs I like so that I am not too disappointed when they do and say something stupid.

I may consider looking at her book when it comes out. I am slowly but surely trying to drag my behind to the gym and being a healthier person. Finding the right balance is tough between working out enough and eating properly-especially since I am an emotional eater who loves trying new things.

  5. Kiddo says:

She looks good, but I’ve seen interviews with her, and she doesn’t come across as particularly articulate, so I can’t imagine purchasing the book. But good luck to her. I always had her pegged as a party girl, but maybe I was wrong or she has changed?

  6. annaloo. says:

That last pic is so Carrie Bradshaw style that I am laughing. How the times change.

    • L says:

Not sure about how times are changing. That’s from the set of Annie. She’s in costume.

      • annaloo. says:

Thank you L, I’m aware the pic is from the set of Annie, but my point was that Diaz’s Miss Hannigan’s outfit looks like something Carrie Bradshaw (gold nameplate necklaces, fingerless gloves, loud print, etc) would have worn circa 1999 and considered the height of city fashion, that’s all.

  7. V4Real says:

I remember years ago when an interviewer was asking Cameron how does it feel to look like Cameron Diaz (of course hinting at how beautiful she was). Cameron’s reply was there are times when Cameron Diaz doesn’t look like Cameron Diaz. That seemed like such an honest answer. I always liked her. She’s such a guy kind of girl.

    • JALorden says:

      She also once said –

“If a woman who’s a successful actress weighs 300 pounds and has warts, nobody ever asks her, ‘Do you think you made it because you’re ugly?’ So why should there be prejudice against someone who’s had some success in films and looks a little better than average. It’s all in my genes, so don’t hold it against me.” And “It’s like high school. We’re like the popular kids. Everybody wants to know what happens to us.”

      I don’t like her. She’s like a Mean Girl.

  8. mk says:

Fabulous! What’s wrong with us ‘looking our age’ anyway? Shouldn’t our natural faces provide the guideline for what that actually means? Even tho’ she has a few more lines than the Goopster, her skin looks far healthier.

  9. Bree bree says:

CB: I too have light lashes and just bought eyelash tint. It stung a little but it helps SO MUCH. Just sharing ahah

    • Celebitchy says:

Bree I was looking into that, I do use the eyebrow tint from the same company Godefroy, but a lot of commenters on Amazon were saying it’s hard to do and I was a bit intimidated by it.

      • TheOriginalKitten says:

Have you tried Rapidlash? It works-I use it.
It won’t make your eyelashes darker but it does grow more lashes.

      • Celebitchy says:

I have not heard of that Kitty. Does it have any side effects? I’ll google it! I actually don’t have a lash volume problem (knock on wood) they’re just so pale. For mascara I use CoverGirl lashblast and it works great.

      • Sloane Wyatt says:

I heard that a rare side effect of using Rapidlash for tinting your eyelashes is that it changes the color of light eyes, but it worked great on my eyebrows after a horrible waxing gone awry.

      • TheOriginalKitten says:

Oh yeah, Sloane-I forgot about that side effect being mentioned-thanks for that. I use it on my eyebrows too to make them thicker.

Well, C/B-I have really long, but not thick lashes that are dark, but not super-dark, but I still felt like I had to wear mascara-Rapidlash made it so I don’t have to and my lashes still look full/thick.

Ugh, I feel like I’m endorsing a lot of beauty products around here lately. The thing is, I only mention stuff that REALLY works. So much junk doesn’t.
It did cause a bit of redness when I first started using it but went away in a day or two.

      • Mrs.Darcy says:

Re:Rapidlash, I’m pretty sure it was the prescription only lash gel that changed eye colour (Latisse?) I have fairly light green eyes and it didn’t affect mine anyway.

      • Lady D says:

I get my eyelashes dyed 2-3 times a year at the esthetician’s. It costs about $15, and lasts for about 5-6 weeks. You get a bonus eyeliner look for about a week also. Easy, cheap, and saves a ton of time especially around the holidays. The dye is offered in brown, black, and blue-black.
@Sloane, do you get your original eye colour back?

    • sputnik says:

my lashes are blonde and i hate wearing make-up so eyelash tint is a godsend. i don’t know if it’s available in the states but eylure do a great one. the bottle lasts for months and months.

      • Esmom says:

I’m intrigued. I have light eyelashes and just started wearing mascara on my top lashes about a year ago because I’m now just too haggard-looking without it. How does the tint work? I used to get my brows tweezed at this studio where they also did eyelash tinting and something about it made me very squeamish.

      • sputnik says:

it just dyes your lashes, the same as tinting your hair. but it’s more of a cream.

if they’re doing it in a salon, they apply the dye onto your closed lashes. you can’t open your eyes for about 15 mins, then it’s washed off. it sounds horrible but it’s actually not too bad. the effect can be a bit more dramatic than the home brands. but it’s more expensive.

this is the home stuff. it’s easy to do. shouldn’t sting at all. and i find it lasts around 6 weeks for me.

        https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cwLmq0sq8yg

      • Esmom says:

        @sputnik, thanks!

    • Maggie says:

Refectocil! They use it in professional salons but you can get it online. I’ve been dying my eyelashes and brows for years. I mix it with 8 drops of hydrogen peroxide, leave on for five ten minutes and voila!

  10. Samtha says:

The book sounds great–much better than the cut-out-everything-edible-and-eat-500-calories-a-day books out there.

    And she looks good.

  11. Sloane Wyatt says:

Are you kidding me? Cameron Diaz has on foundation or a tinted moisturizer, eyebrow pencil or powder, mascara, and a tinted lip balm.

Of course, she looks beautiful, in spite of not being too honest.

    • Ice Maiden says:

Not only that, but even if she is 100% make-up free (which I doubt) this is a posed-for photograph, probably taken by a professional at a flattering angle and in a flattering light – however casual she may be trying to make it look. Also, she’s got styled hair and is smiling. When you see really unflattering make-up free photos of celebs on the web, often what is making them look bad isn’t the lack of make-up (which they’re often wearing in any case) but unstyled hair, unkempt clothes, harsh lighting and a humdrum expression, as well as the fact that they’re not expecting to be photographed. It’s easy to look good ‘make-up free’ when you’re ready for your close-up.

      • bondbabe says:

Well, duh, she has styled hair and is smiling for a photo!! It didn’t say she just rolled out of bed and was grumpy.

By your explanation, ALL makeup-free pictures should have you looking like a mad, grumpy troll.

      • Ice Maiden says:

That’s kind of a harsh response. All I said was that typical ‘stars without make-up’ photos on gossip sites show the stars when they are unkempt, often slightly frazzled and caught unawares. None of which is the case in this photo, so it’s hardly a surprise if Cameron still looks good. And I never claimed that ANYONE looks like ” a mad, grumpy troll” so I find your post a bit of an overreaction.

  12. Dommy Dearest says:

Does anyone remember what she looked like for the Mask? It was like right after that movie her looks changed. She was so pretty in that film.

    • Grace Under Pressure says:

      Even celebrities can’t stay 25 forever…

      • endoplamic_ridiculum says:

She also messed with her nose though. That’s also changed her looks somewhat. She’s still stunning but do check out images of her in ‘The Mask’ and later, for example, in ‘In Her Shoes’. It explains some of the change.

  13. booboobird says:

ok. does the adage about show me your friends and all that is not true here? her friend is Goop, for crying out loud! oh, maybe they will have a fallout now. which book is going to be a bigger bestseller etc etc.

  14. Not says:

Fruit peels are no good for yo9ur face..in the long run..I decline!

  15. Sumodo1 says:

I see round cheek implants that look like they have slipped. Ooh, that must bother her.

  16. Lisa says:

She’s pretty, but let’s be honest: Are these books anything more than a cash grab? I mean, nobody’s life has been turned around by a celebrity’s ghostwritten book about themselves, has it?

    • Ice Maiden says:

Plus, just because you’re a good actress (debatable in Cameron’s case) why does that mean you know more about nutrition than the girl stacking shelves in the supermarket? If I want to read about nutrition or health, I’ll read a book by a doctor or other expert, not a washed-up actress who’s looking for a new career line now that the looks which were her only real asset are starting to fade.

  17. BooBooLaRue says:

Sorry but she looks rode hard and put away wet. Too much booze, smoking and sun gave her those lines on her face.

    • Becky1 says:

She’s 41 and Caucasian-the same age and race I am. Most women in this age/race category (particularly those who are fair skinned, slender and facially expressive) have a few lines. I don’t think she looks old for her age-I think she looks her age. I don’t know any Caucasian woman past her late 30’s with no lines unless they’ve had Botox or are significantly overweight.

  18. wendy says:

You can do eyelash tinting at home? Freaky!
I thought you had to go to a pro to get that action done.
Don’t think I would attempt it myself.

  19. Sloane Wyatt says:

I’d love to see a poll of which eyelash dye works without side effects!

    • taxi says:

Roux. Great for beach vacations because waterproof mascara is never really waterproof for me. No side effects, easy to do at home.

In pic 2 she’s wearing false lashes.

    • bailey says:

@Sloane Wyatt – My cousin has a very fair, sensitive skin and red hair, she gets her eyelashes tinted black at AVEDA salon once a month. Never had a problem yet!

  20. S says:

I think she looks gorgeous. I don’t really see why it’s that hard to believe she doesn’t have makeup on? Maybe she has a light tinted moisturizer or a bb cream to matte her face, but I hardly consider that makeup, or veering far away from going “natural”.

Someone above complained that it was easy to look like this because she had good lighting, her hair was styled, and she was smiling so it shouldn’t be considered “natural”. Anyone sitting by a window can get good lighting light this… it doesn’t have to be taken by a professional. Her hair looks like it was probably just air dried from the shower, and definitely not styled. That’s what mine looks like when I let it air dry without heat styling it- a little messy and a little wavy. And why shouldn’t she smile? She’s holding her book! She’s known as a funny and happy actress. Instead of being easy to look like this because of tricks and professionals, I think it’s easy to look like this just because she’s actually really pretty.

    • bailey says:

I don’t find her attractive even when she is all made up. Recently I saw her in the movie Mask on TV and she was very pretty, but I have never found her beautiful in other films, doesn’t matter what age. I don’t know what happened to her face, but something did after that movie Mask.

  21. Ginger says:

I’ve never been super impressed with her acting but I’ve always given her credit for being one of the more “natural” actresses out there. I know she’s had some surgery but she doesn’t seem to go overboard with it, instead preferring a more natural look. What I see in the “makeup free” photo (being only 3 years older than she is) is that she probably has had Botox shots in her forehead but not the rest of the face, thus giving her a more natural rather than a waxy look. I have considered doing this for myself as well. You certainly cannot deny that she takes fitness rather seriously. It might be worth a look at her book just for that reason. I’ve always admired her for her sense of humor…I find it charming. However proud she is of this book she will have to work hard to make it stand out from the hundreds of other lifestyle books that celebrities produce.

  22. Virgilia Coriolanus says:

She looks like she’s going to be an awesome Miss Hannigan (sp??).

  23. JenniferJustice says:

You all do realize she’s had work done, right? So, she gets no props from me. It’s fake. She was a tall thin gal with pretty eyes. Now, she looks stretched and glossy. She has never had a very good arse. It’s just the eyes. The eyes have it! Bwaahaaahaaa.

  24. Vivian says:

Didnt she get breast implants shortly after filming Bad Teacher?

  25. Sam H x says:

I think she looks great in the first picture regardless of whether she has make up on or not or even had any work done. Also, I agree that she looks just right for her age. She’s not the world’s best actress but she seems like she would be a blast to go out with and not as snoozeworthy as the goopster. I can’t help but like her.

  26. Mrs.Darcy says:

I think she looks great, even if she is rocking a little Nanoblur or whatever, she looks human, she looks healthy and it’s a pretty smart bookselling trick. Just seeing her compared to Brandi Glanville’s maskface on the front page gives me motivation to resist the needle (I am fast coming up on 39 and won’t lie, the temptation is there).

  27. Jayna says:

Why is her face so red in the first photo?

  28. Mrs. Ari Gold says:

CB – I have to say that I am envious of light blonde eyelashes. I always think it looks really amazing. Probably why I love Prince Harry and all the other ginger guys. My best friend is a redhead and she never believes me when I tell her that if I were her I’d never wear mascara! But it’s true. I have dark eyes etc so I guess we always want what we don’t have.

  29. Lotta says:

The first picture is the best she ever looked.

  30. Dorothy says:

She was so sweet pre-Gwyneth days when she hung out with Drew. I hope she talks about her horrible troubles with acne for decades and cops to all she has done to clear her skin. The only thing I do envy about these celebs is there is all this great medical non-invasive dermatological stuff out there – could make a baby rhino’s skin look like perfection! Prob is very expensive. So the celebs all get all this done, weekly facials, do have on makeup, just light etc. etc. and then flaunt their no makeup perfection – new pet peeve – I want it 🙂 but would own it and they (or GOOPS don’t anyway). Do hope Cam gets back to her senses soon – heard she is ditching Gwynie, that would help. So hope the book is honest and does help out some young girls.

  31. LilyT says:

I’m a late poster, but speaking of lashes (if anyone sees this) any products out there actually work to promote lash growth? Mine are dark but thinnish…

  32. LilyT says:

    Well.. I feel sheepish
