Drake reveals he no longer talks to Nicki Minaj, she dealt with him ‘with class’

Drake is such a prolific artist these days. Last fall, he released What A Time To Be Alive with Future, and last week, Drake released another full-length album, his fourth, called Views. It takes a pretty bold man to release an album the same week as Beyonce, but Drake didn’t care. Especially since Views is all about his relationships with Rihanna and Nicki Minaj. Last Thursday, Drake did an interview with Beats 1, and he talked a lot about his relationships with those ladies.

His once-close relationship to Nicki Minaj: “I don’t really talk to Nicki. Another person I have a lot of love for… She dealt with me how I would expect her to—with class. I always have respect and love for her. Unfortunately, we haven’t spoke.”

On Jay-Z: “Sometimes [Jay Z and I] just fall on opposite sides of the spectrum. It’s always mutual respect but sometimes it has to be from afar.”

He loves Kanye: “‘Ye is one of my favorite people in the world…I hope we get some more music out. We were supposed to do a mixtape, album together.”

He still loves Rihanna: “It wouldn’t be a record without Rihanna, would it? We do well as a team… We’re not forcing some story on people. A lot of the music and energy we have is genuine. We have a genuine energy.”

[From E! News]

I think it’s sad that Nicki Minaj cut Drake out of her life because they were so genuinely close at one time. But then Nicki’s immature boyfriend Meek Mill had to blow it up by dissing Drake, and Drake had to take him down. As many are pointing out, the lyrics on Views show a man who is still sort of obsessed with Nicki Minaj though – Drake makes repeated references to how much he loves her and wants to be with her. Sad, sensitive Drake. As for the Rihanna stuff… they just need to be together. I don’t know why they aren’t together at this point.

Oh Jimmy from degrassi… I really don’t see why Nicki Minaj is still with Meek .

    • Cynthia says:

I agree with you, is quite puzzling.

Meek has been so emasculated, I can only assume, he lays it down in bed. BTW, I do not feel sorry for Meek, he brought and keeps bringing everything on himself. Assaulting people while he is on patrol, keeps making diss tracks when no one cares any more.

I thought they broke up? Nikki likes those poor ugly bad boys. If she had any sense she would of been w/ Drake a long time ago.

I used to be not so familiar with the image he projected, as in, to me he was just a rapper (a very talented one), and I didn’t understand why everyone always said he was “sensitive” or whatever. I’ve come to understand it better in the past few years. I definitely see it here.

  3. Locke Lamora says:

He could have the best songs in the world, but I just can not listen to his voice. So. Very. Nasal. And whiny. He sounds like the male Kim Kardashian.

  4. MC2 says:

I am waiting for someone to accuse him of pulling a Taylor……

  5. QQ says:

I AM SO SO SO DESPERATE for this to come to Spotify cause there is about nothing i Enjoy more than a Butthurt Drake, I truly am Obsessed with him, with Him with Riri, with him sad, with him happy, with him putting his mama through all the strippers creation ever made, with how sweet he is to his fans

Still obsessed with this interview and with his Vocal Coach http://jezebel.com/a-chat-with-dionne-osborne-the-vocal-coach-who-changed-1658044149 Like This interview made me love him more

That was a fantastic interview and it really shows how nice of a guy he is!

  6. Alex says:

Sad that Meek’s insecurities came between a great friendship and working relationship. Really that is sad af.
I haven’t finished listening to Views (last week was dedicated to Bey) but so far so good. And he sold well 600K in a day. Really good for a kid from Toronto

  7. Cynthia says:

Honestly his music is basically him whining about women who treated him like he treats other women, it gets tiring after a while. He has a good ear for beats but mostly he has a great team of writers. I have to say that I appreciate that he tries to get into other genres like dancehall or afrobeat though.

  8. Katt says:

    He’s such a f**kboy

  9. Bread and Circuses says:

I do like that our Canadian boy is generally classy himself and respectful of women. So many male rappers aren’t. He’s comes across as a bit of a dork sometimes, but he’s a sweetie.

  10. Squiggisbig says:

Hearing this about him and Nicki brings back all of my hate for Meek. Like Nicki and Drake have made a lot of money together so whatever Meek’s feelings about him, he should not have started anything at all. Nicki deserves so much better!

It makes me so sad that she let a relationship dictate who she can be friends with…I thought she was stronger than that. I guess Drake understands that Nicki feels obligated to choose her boyfriend over him, but it still has to burn considering they were once good friends and close collaborators. I’m curious what will happen when she puts out her next album since she always uses a feature with Drake to get people interested in it? Even though Meek ended up making a clown out of himself, he still got Drake out of Nicki’s life which was one of his goals last summer. I thought for sure Nicki would have dropped Meek when their plan of tearing Drake down and being the next Beyonce/Jay power couple backfired on them, but she’s loyal to him for some reason. I wish Drake would get over Nicki though. She will never, ever be interested in you bro!

It is sad. I get wanting to respect your partner, but she seems to be bending over backwards to do whatever makes Meek happy regardless of how it affects her. When she was promoting the Barbershop movie someone asked her about any sex scenes and she said she isn’t ALLOWED to do those. Not that she isn’t comfortable or there are none in the movie or anything like that. Nope, her boyfriend says she isn’t allowed to do them. It’s a good thing acting isn’t her profession. Smh.

      • Amanda G says:

I agree, it’s the total opposite of what she was like with Samuels. Everything changed when they broke up and I’ve liked her less and less since then.

  12. Veronica says:

I thought that was kind of inevitable after the Meek Mill incident. You have to choose sides, and Nicki has made it clear that Mill is who she wants a future with. A shame, but such is the way of things.
