OctoMom signs up for a reality series, featuring her 14 children

It’s been a few weeks since OctoMom got any press, so she had to do something dramatic to get our attention away from those press-hungry Gosselins. Nadya Suleman has signed on to star in her own reality series. Personally, I think OctoMom saw how well things went for Kate and Jon Gosselin, and she decided to go for it. They’ve only got eight kids… so Nadya wants to make sure we remember she had eight kids… all at once! In addition to the six older kids. In addition to being a single mom. In addition to being batsh-t crazy. Great television, right?

According to OctoMom’s lawyer, the reality series will show “several events in the children’s lives… They might be several shows aired during a year. There are all kinds of possibilities. It really depends on what the networks want.” No mention as to the legality of basically signing on for unmitigated child labor, which the Gosselins are now being investigated for.

It’s official: Nadya Suleman and her brood of 14 are coming to a TV near you.

After weeks of meetings and negotiations, Suleman’s attorney Jeff Czech confirmed exclusively to Usmagazine.com that Suleman signed a deal Thursday night to star in her own reality series.

“[Nadya and the producers] are hoping to have an arrangement whereby several events in the children’s lives would be filmed in a documentary series,” Czech told Us.

“One of the events in the children’s lives might be their first birthday.”

Describing the as-yet untitled show as a “quasi-reality TV series”, Czech said that the production company, Eyeworks, was moving ahead to make a deal with a network.

“They might be several shows aired during a year. There are all kinds of possibilities. It really depends on what the networks want,” her lawyer said.

Czech declined to comment on how much Nadya would be getting paid for the deal, citing confidentiality.

“Her television program will not be like the Jon and Kate Plus 8 show,” said Czech. “[Nadya] is looking forward to providing her side of the story.”

Her side of the story? Haven’t we been hearing her side this whole time? I’d like to hear more from her parents, or from her children. Or from the authorities. Maybe I’m old-fashioned, but I don’t see how this reality show can be legal or safe. But I’m sure whatever network picks it up will figure out a way to make it legal-ish.

All joking aside (and I wasn’t even joking for most of it), I really do think this is about the Gosselins. Nadya was paying attention to all of the money and freebies Kate and Jon were raking in, and Nadya wants her piece of the reality-show and child-exploiting pie. Plus, I really do think Nadya thrives on the attention, and she was probably upset that the Gosselins were getting so many tabloid covers. Nadya’s probably just sick enough to do something really dangerous just to get more attention – and God help us all if we’re watching.

  2. Melissa says:

Easy solve: People take a stand and refuse to watch it instead of clamoring to watch and then post multiple blog discussions about it, giving it the attention the advertisers are hoping to see.

I’m with you, Melissa! Don’t watch the Octomom drivel and it will go away. And I also hope that everyone quits watching Jon and Kate Plus 8 – I am sick to death of them and I’ve never even watched their show.

Why would anyone WANT the havoc and decay that has befallen JK+8 as though it was something enviable? really is the money even worth it? Cos its not liek the “fame” is, which is nothig but being known and hated by millions, who find what you did with your children revolting and unethical…??

Actually, this may be a good idea. She can’t totally neglect the kids while the cameras around, so at least she’ll have to try.

    Not that I’d watch it.

I am pregnant right now, with one, lol. And it makes me sick (literally)at least I know what NOT to do as a new parent.

Don’t blame Octo, blame the network and BOYCOTT them!
Trust me, she watched the Gosslin’s and saw $$ signs when that show went on the air. That’s why she had 8 embyros implanted. And why isn’t her doctor up on charges yet???

well… she doesn’t have a man to break up with due to the reality show, and the cameramen will double as babysitters… so it’s all good! also, I find this sentence hilarious… “One of the events in the children’s lives might be their first birthday.” Really??
