Ireland Baldwin on her mom, Kim Basinger: ‘no idea how people are born this beautiful’

Ireland Baldwin is a lovely girl. I mean, when your parents are Kim Basinger and Alec Baldwin (say what you want about him now, but back in the day he was a stone cold hottie), you’re kind of blessed genetically. The 21-year-old shared a candid picture of her mom to Instagram on Friday, with the caption, “Rare moment alert Momma Kim in the flesh. I have no idea how people are born this beautiful.” Kim is 63. Yes, she’s had some work done, but she looks amazing, if you ask me.

rare moment alert 🚨 Momma Kim in the flesh. I have no idea how people are born this beautiful?¿?¿¿??

Ireland and Kim are serving as brand ambassadors for a new hair care line from celebrity hairdresser Mitch Stone, who just happens to be Kim’s latest beau. The pair traveled to QVC’s Philadelphia studios last week to do a little shilling. It sure looks like they had fun, if this goofy Instagram video is any indication.

Ireland, who recently landed her first campaign with Guess, shared some of her mom’s beauty tips with PEOPLE Magazine. Apparently, good genes just isn’t enough to be a gorgeous model.

“My mom has taught me about prep, and how to make your skin and your body look good,” Baldwin told PEOPLE. “For me, my mom taught me to drink cranberry juice with no sugar – the pure kind from a Whole Foods or health food store. Cranberry juice and dandelion tea! You make the dandelion tea, let it brew and then pour them together over ice and drink that. I get really bloated. Like, I literally just breathe air, or chew gum, or eat one french fry and I’m huge. So, it helps with bloat. It helps with everything – it’s the best thing in the world! I’m not even kidding. It will change your life.”

[From PEOPLE]

Cranberry juice and dandelion tea, huh? I guess it’s worth a shot. Maybe I should also stop my seemingly once a week wing eating contests with my boyfriend (we’re tied at 1-1.) But, it’s nice to see Kim out and about. I’m an unapologetic fan of My Stepmother is an Alien and Blind Date, and I hope Kim will soon star in a movie I would actually pay money to see, unlike her last movie, 50 Shades Darker. You’re better than that, Kim.

It’s a product for getting rid of UTI. I don’t have a uti but I got some because it was half off in my grocers health section and i was curious. Heard about it on mom blogs as some people give it to their kids for UTI as well. I mix it with club soda for an unsweetened drink. Without soda it would be hard to swallow. The one I got has dandelion, “marshmallow?” And more things with the cranberry juice.

    • Peanutbuttr says:

I take it for UTI or when I think a UTI is developing. The store brands have too much sugar so I take pills or chews.

    • lolo86lf says:

I heard a couple of years ago that Cranberry juice does not really help you getting rid of UTI’s or prevent kidney disease. I am pretty sure drinking plenty of liquids like juices will help your body discharge the UTI faster. I do wonder what dandelion tea tastes of.

      • GiBee says:

Dandelion tea is quite earthy tasting. I love it, but people who grew up on Coca Cola and soda drinks sometimes have a hard time adjusting to it. Delicious and very good for digestion.

      • Pumpkin (formally soup, pie) says:

Dandelion tea tastes very, very bitter.

      • magnoliarose says:

I drink roasted dandelion tea with a dollop of honey. I eat the greens sauteed in olive oil and garlic

      • Natasha says:

Cranberry juice or tabs are believed to be helpful in preventing UTI’s, not treating an infection.

My Dr has recommended it before, but I believe limited research has been done on its effectiveness.

      • Fiorucci says:

Yes I heard this too, but people still swear by it. No one in my family gets them (knock on wood) so I can’t test it.

      • tealily says:

It will mask the symptoms, but not cure it. No bueno.

      • LM says:

It doesn’t get rid of a UTI but it helps prevent “bacterial adhesion”, but only if you take it capsule form. The juice really does nothing.
I had a antibiotic resistant UTI that took over a year of antibiotic use to rid myself of it (my doctor even had the bacteria cultured) and you better believe I prophylactically take the cranberry capsules. I also take D-Mannose as well. Anything to stave off UTI’s.

    • KiddVicious says:

Dandelion tea is great if you’re having gall bladder problems. I drink it plain, nothing added. You get used to the earthy taste. I don’t eat or drink a lot of sugar so my taste buds aren’t acclimated to sweet, I think that helps a lot.

  2. Nancy says:

From what I understand, Kim had all sorts of phobias and troubles in her life, but nobody can doubt her beauty. If you do, watch 9-1/2 weeks. Even Mickey Rourke was good looking in that movie!

    • Lexilla says:

Oh honey, Mickey Rourke was EVERYTHING back in the day. Totally insane and misogynistic, but so nice to look at.

    • Tyrant Destroyed says:

They were both incredibly sexy and good looking in that movie

    • mia girl says:

She was stunning in 9 1/2 Weeks.
I have always thought her to be so beautiful and a strong actress. I love her performance in L.A. Confidential (one of my favorite movies).

    • Harryg says:

      They were both so gorgeous.

    • spi says:

I can assure you no one ever doubted Kim’s beauty. A lot of prestigious, thespian type actresses begged for her role in 9 1/2 Weeks but didn’t possess the allure. She’s the greatest sex symbol of all time!

As for Ireland, if you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all.

    • milla says:

She had issues which makes me hate Alec even more. Kim is in my book among the most beautiful and talented women in HW .

  3. Naddie says:

I don’t even know why I start reading rich people talking about their eating habbits and keep on. In my defense, I can say the title doesn’t hint anything about it.

    • boredblond says:

How else would you know that a stick of gum can make you too fat to look perfect for the camera?…oh brother…

      • Naddie says:

Lol, yeah. And don’t even make me start with the cranberries, but just the damn PURE KIND!

  4. Alix says:

I think Kim looks waxen and way over-tweaked.

    • holly says:

Agreed. No matter how “subtle” it never looks natural.

      • astrid says:

Not what I’d call beauty. too over worked. I’m not sure what the age difference is but Helen Mirren looks way better

    • Fiorucci says:

Alix oh just ever so slightly /s
Seriously she should never have messed with anything except maybe eye droop and or neck. Her face is so plump now, not in a cute way

    • Becks says:

I agree. Those cheeks are so over filled, it’s very distracting. When it comes to fillers and botox, less is more.

    • Sarah says:

Yeah, her eyes look wonky. If I was going to get a face lift, I would call Jane Fonda’s surgeon – she looks amazing, like Jane Fonda, just younger. 🙂

      • KiddVicious says:

She had had hooded eyes when she was younger, I can see why she’d get that fixed once the skin starts sagging. It really changed her looks, IMO. She’s still gorgeous to me, just has the “fixed” look that is becoming too common.

ETA: Sorry, Sarah! I meant this to go under the general post, I didn’t mean to single your post out.

    • aenflex says:

For sure she does. But she was so smoking hot in Batman. Before all the tweaks. I daresay she’d look better at her age now without all the waxiness.

  5. Sami says:

She has always had “waxen” skin. Extremely flawless and always somewhat dewy. It was either God given or she had work done before she got to Hollywood. I’m sure she has had tweeks since to iron out creases but I really think that smooth as wax effect is naturally her.

    • Helene says:

No. She looks like every other Hollywood actress trying to stay young. She looks bad. The “effect” is not natural.

  6. Barrett says:

She has had work (a bit tight) but I always remember even back in the day she seems like a hermit who shuns the sun. Really big hats and sunglasses and big clothes. She probably would look better than most at her age even w/o the work due her skincare.

  7. BlueSky says:

I’m with you, Corey. I remember Alec Baldwin in “The Hunt for Red October” and “Beetlejuice” he really was a hottie back in the day!

    • Lahdidahbaby says:

“Miami Blues” was the first movie I saw him in and he was GREAT. I dragged people to see it because I thought he was so brilliant. Anyone else see him in that? 1990, I think.

    • mia girl says:

Agree. He really was something to look at during the earlier stages of his career.

Lahdidahbaby- yes! That was a great movie and he was very good in it. But I’ll go back further… i remember him from Knots Landing. He was on for a season or two as a young, crazy preacher or something. He was a standout even in that role.

    • Evie says:

Alec Baldwin was also hot, hot, hot in Working Girl (where he played Melanie Griffith’s cheating live-in boyfriend) and also The Hunt for Red October. That movie had a lot of hotties in it: like Courtney B. Vance and some older but still sexy actors like Sean Connery, Sam Neill and Scott Glenn.

Kim Basinger is a beautiful woman who’s always had gorgeous skin and hair. She was fastidious about maintaining her looks always stayed out of the sun and even demanded that whenever she worked on a movie, the studios had to supply her with Evian water to wash her hair in! Her skin does look a bit tight here and you can see she’s had fillers but still looks great. Kim Bassinger was at her peak in L.A. Confidential — she won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for that role in 1998. Here’s a link to photo of them at the Oscars that year.

      • mia girl says:

Evie – Yes! As I said upthread, L.A. Confidential is one of my favorite films and agree with you that it was peak Bassinger (Batman too). She was great.

    • KiddVicious says:

Both Kim and Alec were pure sex in The Getaway. Not a great movie, but the two of them sizzled.

    • Alix says:

Remember the 30 Rock episode about “the bubble” good-looking people live in? Baldwin’s Jack Donaghy lived in one, back in the day.

  8. Sarah says:

Did anyone else see her in Fifty Shades Darker?

  9. JC says:

She was in Nadine in the late 80s with Jeff Bridges. They were both so young and adorable.

  10. Maple Girl says:

I do wonder how it feels going trough life being that beautiful. I’m sure there are also difficulties, but people that beautiful seem to be operating on a completely different level.

  11. manda says:

whoa, the “real” cranberry juice (as opposed to cranberry juice cocktail) is so strong and awful tasting. I tried diluting it with water or mixing it with other things, but bleccchhhccchhhh. Yuck

  12. Tiffany says:

I drink cranberry juice and still look like present day Alec Baldwin. And he is the better looking one.

    • mia girl says:

I almost spit out my coffee reading this. Ha! So funny.

But come on… you know you are a beauty 🙂

  13. Enough Already says:

Mother-in-law saw her in Nashville and said her skin was flawless and her hair was “thick as oatmeal” and barely contained in an elastic band.

  14. Ash says:

Lol Tiffany! And I doubt you do!!! 😂😂 I met Mickey Rourke at a club in the early nineties. He was very polite. And I was very young. Carrie Otis called his phone while I was sitting next to him and Wilt Chamberlain?? (Random!) And I think I had a heart attack. She was another one. So so naturally beautiful.

  15. Heather says:

I am totally going to try this cranberry – dandelion tea cocktail! I just googled it and Jillian Michael’s has a detox drink that is similar and looks like it might taste better….you make a big 60 oz portion every day and sip on it all day. It has lots of water, just a little sugar free cranberry juice, fresh lemon juice and dandelion tea:

  16. hey-ya says:

….its a daughter saying her mom is beautiful…nbd…Im just an observer & to me Kim looks a lot like Brandi Glanville…end of…

    • magnoliarose says:

I think it is sweet she sees her mother that way. I wish women would go for looking 40 not 20 at her age. Then you just look great for your age but not pulled and so tight it screams FACELIFT.

  17. KiddVicious says:

I’ve had a crush on Kim Basinger since high school. Hard Country was the first time I noticed her, with Jan Michael Vincent, another heart throb of that time. I think I watched it because of Jan Michael and Kim was a bonus.

  18. nicegirl says:

Remember how beautiful she was as Vicki Vale in Batman? Stunningly gorgeous.

  19. Jayna says:

She was a beauty. The filler in her face looks weird and maybe pulled too much.

Susan Sarandon seems to be the one getting it right out of the female celebs over sixty. She’s 70, and her face moves and is luminous and doesn’t have weird cheeks and too tight. Her hair looks shiny and healthy. She still looks like herself, but not overdone — yet. LOL

  20. The dormouse says:

Anyone remember Alec Baldwin as Billy Aldrich on The Doctors soap opera? He was something special.

  21. blonde555 says:

So beautiful? I think not. She is tugged to high heaven and looks alien-like. Why do all the ladies post-facelift have the creepy red/pink rimmed eyes?

  22. Ellie71 says:

I liked nasty Kim , in Nice Guys. I always thought Russel and Kim would be great in real life.
