Here are some photos of Alicia Vikander at the Madrid photocall for Tomb Raider today. This is the start of her promotional push, I think? Tomb Raider comes out March 16th, so there will probably be three full weeks of traveling and touring to push the film. I’m assuming that if there’s a Madrid photocall today, that means the European swing of the tour probably comes first, and that the London premiere will probably be the biggest.
While I haven’t seen the designer ID confirmed, I’m saying that she’s wearing Louis Vuitton, because she’s still the face of Louis Vuitton (her contract just got extended, I believe) and because this looks like many of the Vuitton dresses she’s been wearing lately. I’m not sure brown is the color I would choose for anyone for their big promotional push? Granted, she’s being limited by her LV contract, but surely she could ask for a brighter dress?
A few weeks ago, she wore a similarly baggy LV dress with no belt, and some people claimed she looked bumpy and possibly pregnant. I think it’s perfectly possible she and Michael Fassbender will get pregnant at some point in their first year of marriage. I just don’t think it’s right now? As I said, she’s got a lot of hustling to do for Tomb Raider. Maybe after that? Because to me, I don’t think she looks bumpy at all in these photos. She just looks tired. Oh, and Fassbender and Vikander were seen in Madrid this week, going out to lunch – you can see the photos here. I wonder if he’ll come out for any of her premieres?
PS… I absolutely loathe those peep-toe booties.

Confession: I love it. I love the fit, the shape, I don’t mind the brown on her and the shoes work with it! Not just anyone can pull off this color but she can.

At first the look repulsed me because I hate brown. But the more I looked at it the more I liked it–it’s flattering and looks fresh somehow.
ITA. I’m usually not a fan of booties like that, but her monochrome styling actually makes them seem rather elongating. Plus the rugged soles suit the theme of the film, so I think it’s a cute look overall.

Add some length to that dress and you’ve got Maid Marian in Sherwood Forest. (although Marian would need her toes covered) With some different shoes ( burgundy, gold, orange-ish) and a necklace that lights up her face it would be gorgeous in the fall, but it’s almost spring!

I think the color is bothering me too. I generally don’t mind a little brown, but overall it’s just very drab. Drab hair, drab dress, drab shoes.

Yeah, I saw her face in the thumbnail and clicked over only to see if she had said anything (which she is not required to do, and I know bumpwatch is problematic, and maybe she’s just tired). She looks softer and rounder in the face than Hollywood welcomes/allows in young actresses and usually, seeing that is A Sign.
She does look pregnant, and all peep-toe booties are hideous. All.

I saw a side by side pic of Alicia and Angie as Lara Croft, Angie actually looked younger. Strange they are having Alicia portraying the younger Lara when she’s 6 years older than Angie when she portrayed Lara the first time.
I have nothing against Alicia, I like her other films, but Angie is so deeply associated with Lara Croft, it’s going to be an uphill battle for this film.

She always looks so exhausted to me. Her eyes just convey sleepiness. It looks like she has no energy to even smile. It actually makes me tired to look at her sometimes. It’s like how yawns are contagious.

I have ALWAYS thought she looks perpetually sleepy in photographs! That said, she was magnetic in the man from UNCLE (which I can never remember the name of. I always think of it as that spy movie, even tho it’s very enjoyable). In ex machina, I couldn’t understand the fuss over her. The sleepiness and robotic quality seemed to work hand in sleepy hand for that one.

That vomit-brown dress, with bland brown hair and washed out skin together are horrible and boring at the same time. To make things worse, she looks half-conscious. This image is as far from Lara Croft as you can get-sleepy, weak blandness. She was a bad choice to play LC – this role begs for a strong, athletic woman with charisma, because it’s her personality and acting that will carry the movie (can’t count on a good story in a video game adaptation). Alicia is just not LC material. Also, they used her LC as a model for a horrid, anorexic-looking Lara Barbie doll. This movie will flop and it’s all the producers’ fault.
