Duchess Kate steps out in McQueen, alongside William, Charles & Camilla

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge did an event with the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall today. This is the first time since 2011 that the four senior royals – William, Kate, Charles and Camilla – did an event with just the four of them. At first, I wondered if William and Kate horned in on one of Charles’ events. But after hearing what the event involved, I feel like Charles and William worked in concert to make a petty point towards Prince Harry. The event: a visit to the new Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre (DMRC) in Loughborough. As in, they spent time with injured and rehabilitating veterans and soldiers. So… are Charles and William just going to copy Harry’s work entirely from now on?

Rebecca English actually called this grouping “the new Fab Four” on Twitter, which is funny for so many reasons. I mean, the OG (Royal) Fab Four was a media creation in the first place, it was a dream that Harry and Meghan would do things and William and Kate would tag along and get all the credit. The Sussexes put an end to that. So now Will & Kate are tagging along to Charles and Camilla’s events? Also: the OG Fab Four was about the “glamour” of the “younger royals.” Calling Charles (71) and Camilla (72) part of some new Fab Four… lord, I hope they’re all embarrassed.

As for fashion… Kate wore a militaristic-looking McQueen which is new-to-us. The silhouette is very conservative, bordering on Amish-chic, only the Amish think buttons are “proud.” Kate thinks buttons should be added to every article of clothing she wears, so I’m convinced that she asked Sarah Burton at McQueen for MOAR BUTTONS.

  1. Sarah says:

Yikes. Kate’s suit is very Business Straightjacket. It’s quite severe.

    • Hannah says:

      “Business straightjacket” SNORT 😂

    • (TheOG)jan90067 says:

Not just that, but for another bespoke (on theme!) outfit, IT DOESN’T FIT! Look at her bust, and look at the bunching around her hips/legs…it just doesn’t lay properly; for the money she spent on this, it should fit like a glove. And what…no cost in print? What about her mini-bag (which she never carried one, or carried gloves like that, before M arrived; it was Katie Klutch all the time).

This is the time a colored bag would have looked a lot better. She has lavender one, a wine colored one, even her dark green one… She looks like she’s going to a funeral. How uplifting for injured veterans.

      • Mac says:

I think a visit from four members of the BRF would be uplifting regardless of their attire.

      • Sarah says:

I agree. I feel like (love them or hate them) Kate’s clothes are normally impeccably tailored but this just…isn’t.

      • Jen says:

Whenever I criticize Kate’s looks, I always hear “But look at the fit! Everything is so well tailored!” Not true in this case.

I mean, the look is fine. An overly buttoned, military inspired coat. Nothing to write home about.

Enjoy your slimmed down monarchy, Charles!

      • Tessa says:

She looks very severe and I don’t think she enjoys the extra work (she should have thought of that sooner when she never refuted the gossip about Meghan and she could have IMO).

      • Missskirrtin says:

Shes losing weight. Stress and anxiety. Shes also looking way older. Worry wrinkles.

      • Mrs.Krabapple says:

@MAC – why would the visit be uplifting? I ask as a serious question. These people are admired simply because of happenstance of birth? I don’t understand how a modern, intelligent person could bow and scrape to someone simply because of birth.

      • Mac says:

@Mrs, Krabapple – Since citizens aren’t required to bow and scrape to any members of the BRF, I’m not sure what your point is. And if you think the BRF is the only entity that benefits from birthright I would point you to George W. Bush.

      • Vanessabee says:

I think it was tailored correctly but because she slouches, it looks bunched near the waist.

    • Tessa says:

Her hair is way too long.

      • manda says:

I love this comment! Reminds me of my mom. She and I butt heads over hair length

Is it her hair, though? I heard she used to wear pieces, maybe still?

    • I hate Kate’s outfit, but love the buttons, although I wish they’d have been bigger and red. Just kidding….hate the buttons. Notice the future King is out front and everybody else must walk 2 steps behind. I got nothing on them being together as I think this is all about publicity. It has been reported for years that William can barely stand to be in the same room with his father or Camilla, but now all we see is “love, love, love” (to quote the real Fab Four 😎).

      • leigh says:

Yes, so true. I read over the weekend on some other royal forum that the word is that Wills resents being pushed forward in order to distract from all the Royals’ problems right now. Also said he is not into Kate’s lovey-dovey act either.

      • BeanieBean says:

Bigger & red, I think would have looked like Olive Oyl’s usual outfit. Except I think she wore a white top? (Haven’t watched Popeye cartoons in decades.)

    • Rianic says:

It made me think of the female cenobite.

    • Kristina says:

I looked at the pictures before I read any commentary, and I thought she looked really beautiful.

      • BeanieBean says:

I actually liked it, too, especially since it’s snowing–it looks like she’d be nice & warm. But from that top photo alone, I expected the occasion was some sort of remembrance-related activity, something sombre.
And as others have said, it pulls across her bustline. I thought maybe if she stood up straight, there wouldn’t be an issue.

      • jj says:

I was thinking the same thing, how beautiful she looked. However, the bottom photograph does show it should have been fitted better over her bustline when she bends over. I had a coat dress with buttons that did the same thing and I pinned it so wouldn’t pull when I sat down.

    • MJM says:

      They all look bad imo.

      • Lucy De Blois says:

I wonder when Charles is going to drop his indulgence. If he insists on it his vessels are going to blow up on his face. Literally.

    • PrincessK says:

Did anyone notice that Kate wore high heels on the floor of the sports hall? When Meghan did that she got slated for it. Whoever is collating, please add this one to the long list of double standards.

When l pointed this out on Twitter, l received abuse.

    • Nikki* says:

Yup, but the buttons outlining her abdomen are mighty weird too.

  2. grumpyterrier says:

This coat dress thing is really cool. I like how severe it is. But I like really structured clothing overall.

  3. Nola says:

Yikes Kate! I normally don’t have a problem with her clothes but this dress / suit, whatever, is so severe and unflattering. Auction this monstrosity off and use the funds to donate to the charity. (like Bea did with that awful hat from W&K’s wedding)

  4. Beach Dreams says:

Another McQueen??? That’s a lot of money to look like a Victorian schoolmarm.

  5. L84Tea says:

Camilla looks great in those boots!

    • Tessa says:

Camilla is passable I don’t think she ever looks “great.”

      • (TheOG)jan90067 says:

        😂😂😂😂😂😂.
Girlfriend is looking worn out, and it’s only February! I’m sure she’s not happy about “pulling up the slack” lol

      • L84Tea says:

Aww, I love old Cams. She’s my favorite royal. And I still think she looks great in those boots.

@OG, I really do hope she is okay because I notice people keep remarking on her health. When being told to pick up the slack, I picture her throwing back a whiskey in a crystal cut glass muttering, “Oh for God’s sake…”. 😀

      • Lady D says:

Camilla looked absolutely amazing on her wedding day. Beautiful dress.

      • Tessa says:

I don’t like Camilla and how she got where she is today. She did not give Diana a moments peace since Charles and Diana dated. A good woman would have backed off once her lover got engaged. Don’t like her. Diana was unfortunate crossing paths with Charles and his mistress. If he did not love Diana he should have left her alone and down the road he could have married Camilla. Charles got to have his cake and eat it too. If Charles could not love Diana he should not have courted the teenager. Cannot stand Camilla. Camilla has left tours early due to hot weather and is not expected to keep up a quick pace in royal duties apparently.

      • notasugarhere says:

Camilla’s wedding blessing outfit was amazing, Lady D. One of my fav royal wedding gowns.

      • Tessa says:

Her wedding outfit was ruined IMO by that odd headpiece she wore. What was she thinking?

      • notasugarhere says:

Philip Treacy did lots of feather things like that for the Queen Mum too. She had to have something in her hair. She didn’t want to wear something as heavy as a formal hat, if she’d worn a tiara to a wedding blessing she would have been attacked even more. The feather creation suited her and the occasion.

    • Rita says:

The boots with the coat. I love that contrasting lapel. At first thought it was navy ( to coordinate with Kate), but I guess it’s black. The broach is so elegant, with the crossed flags. Does anyone know if it is an official emblem or order?

  6. lemonylips says:

Kate’s look has a vibe of a modern suffragette which makes me like it, but I don’t like these boots with it.

  7. Sophie says:

Kate’s favorite combination…shiny buttons and military style. The new Fab 4….I can’t stop laughing at the desperation

  8. Becks1 says:

I really really dislike Kate’s outfit. I don’t know why. Yes it is severe and has the buttons, but at first glance I liked it, and now the more I look at it the more I dislike it. I always say I want to see her in clean lines and more structured clothing, but now that she is…..I don’t like it.

I feel like Camilla looks a lot better.

    • BearcatLawyer says:

It’s the horrible fit. I cannot get over the puckering in the chest.

      • HK9 says:

Anal alterationist here, they need to take it up a little in the shoulders to get rid of the pucker. Why they haven’t done it is a mystery. On another note, I follow McQueen on Instagram and they paid homage to him recently, as it was the anniversary of his death. Seeing this post made me miss him, because he was a master tailor and would NEVER have let that jacket out in the wild without the fit being right. One of the things I always admired about his work was that the tailoring was incredible, and for some reason, under the current management, they let these things slip.

      • BeanieBean says:

        Gotta ask, HK9: ‘anal alterationist’?

      • HK9 says:

Haha! 🙂 Pardon the bad word placement.

      • JaneBee87 says:

@HK9 Loved your analysis of why the fit isn’t working, and the snark! 🙂

      • notasugarhere says:

Or the cheap fabric, which is showing every wrinkle and bad seam.

    • Nic919 says:

She has hundreds of coats that would suit at this point. To have a new bespoke faux military navy blue coat for this is just wasteful. The buttons just look dumb.

Camilla doesn’t do this bizarre theme dressing and looks much more suitable.

      • Tessa says:

Camilla has the same style and probably has her outfits especially tailored by a dressmaker to suit her figure.

    • Belli says:

It’s structured, but I wouldn’t call it clean lines. It’s a bad fit.

Camilla’s coat is cleaner and actually looks younger. I like it a lot more!

    • Vava says:

This ensemble is terrible. The fit is atrocious on that jacket, Sarah Burton should be embarrassed and Kate needs to start looking in the mirror before she leaves the house. The skirt is a mess, too. I hate this outfit. And those buttons on the bottom of the jacket are ridiculous.
Her face looks lumpier than usual. What’s going on with that? Hairstyle is ugly. Boots need to be worn with something different. Two thumbs down on this entire look. Camilla looks so much better, that’s for sure.

      • Tessa says:

The two women both look bad. Camilla to me never looks good. At least they did not pose for “fun” event like sampling food.

      • Maybe it fit when she got it but she has lost more weight since then. Her breasts are certainly beginning to disappear and that has to alter the fit. I read somewhere that she has been in secret treatment for an eating disorder since early last year, but who knows. Could just be tabloid BS — but I still think she is continuing to drop weight. I think this is contributing to how tired and worn down she has been looking for quiet awhile.

      • notasugarhere says:

She might have quit botox in anticipation of getting pregnant with Baby #4.

    • L4frimaire says:

The proportions are off. The skirt is way too long and the jacket elongated her already long torso. Charles coat is a worn out rumpled mess that has seen better days and Will needs a coat. Camilla is fine but not into the boots, color and suede texture not right. As for the event, they still have to do what is expected of them, with or without the Sussexes. They show up and shake hands, and that is fine with the public.

      • Guest with Cat says:

I agree with all of this. And I really feel alarmed looking at Kate. She looks my age and she really should have had 15 years more of parenting and bake sales and charity fundraisers to get the kind of mileage I’ve got on my face. It’s not a matter of her needing more cosmetic procedures. It is an inner blight of the soul pouring out. Kate has looked much, much better not that terribly long ago. Her face is telling stories she’s not free to speak of.

This severe style is doing her no favors. Nor is the stark contrast of the dark color against her pale complexion. She needs a lighter blue or a red similar to what she wore the other day.

      • JaneBee87 says:

@guestwithcat “Her face is telling stories she’s not free to speak of.” Agreed. And it’s certainly not doing any favours for the reputation of whomever is responsible for performing the procedures she has received :/

      • Trashaddict says:

Yup. Lookin’ a bit tired there, Waity Katie.

      • Dilettante says:

        Kate’s eyes look very sad.

  9. Maevo says:

Yes very severe! What an odd length…
I’m always surprised that the royals don’t do more joint engagements like this. It seems like such an easy way to generate more interest and attention. Like I’m always baffled that Kate doesn’t tag along more with the Queen. They are all so siloed and territorial.

  10. HK9 says:

It’s a button throwdown! I like it though, and I like that she’s pulled her hair off her face. Full disclosure, I love boots with long skirts so while it’s really conservative, I like it!!

  11. lana86 says:

Looks cool, i would totally wear it. Not the boots though.

  12. Sam Louise says:

I love her outfit! If I lost 50 pounds I’d wear it too. Very understated and classic. i also love the suede black boots.

  13. Cerys says:

I’m not sure about this outfit. The jacket is nice and the skirt is nice but they don’t look good together.
I don’t think Camilla looked particularly well. I hope she is alright.

  14. iamcait says:

I just read that a trip to Australia is in the works – W&K are said to be very distressed about the fires. Instead of touring around at Australia’s expense and directing the rest of the world to donate funds to help, why don’t they simply write a cheque? SMH. Typical royal behaviour.

    • Mac says:

They can write one check or they can encourage tens of thousands of others to write checks. Which do think will raise more money?

      • Maria says:

Considering Kate couldn’t care enough about the Art Room to help fundraise for it I doubt they’d do either.

      • iamcait says:

Of course the latter. The point I’m making is that they are hypocrites – do as I say not as I do. I read a great piece somewhere about the concept of “slacktivism” and it suits these 2 to a tee.

      • Jaded says:

I and most of my friends have already donated, so have many others world-wide. A bit too little too late I’d say. I very much like the expression “slacktivism”, it captures what they do (or don’t do actually). As a member country of the Commonwealth and threatening to leave it, they should have been on fund-raising for Australia RIGHT AWAY.

      • Rita says:

Mac — it’s not an either/or. And if I were British, I wouldn’t be likely to give because a super-rich no-show asked me to.

    • Sarah says:

Long haul flight to a country ravaged by fires caused by climate change? Very on brand. Hope it’s a budget flight 🙄

    • notasugarhere says:

Multiple members of the Australia press and the Australian Republic group are already criticizing the idea. Nobody wants to pay 500,000 to see Bill and Keen coo over injured koalas right now.

      • carmen says:

        +100.

      • BabsORIG says:

They need to just donate their flight fare, it’s in thousands of dollars and it would go a very long way. The Sussexes already led by example and made a donation and asked their fans to do it and it made a difference, these two need to take cues from the Sussexes.

      • carmen says:

        BabsORIG – exactly.

    • yinyang says:

That’s the way of the superrich. They ask the lower classes already struggling to donate while they do nil.

    • Carrie says:

Absolutely no thank you. We don’t need ANY money spent on hosting the royals please. If they tour – and especially when they tour following a disaster they should pay their own way. Any spare $$ in the budget should go to the bushfire relief fund. Sorry, I really feel strongly about this.

      • Some chick says:

        THIS ALL DAY.

There is nothing to be sorry about in your comment, Carrie!

        What good do they do?

        “Encourage people to donate”?

People are donating because of having human compassion. The news is “encouraging people to donate.” Not the so-called royals.

It’s such a blatantly desperate PR grab, based on an actual tragedy. Shameful.

They need to have all of the (budget plane) seats. Now.

  15. Sofia says:

Yeah I agree with most people. The outfit looks severe and harsh. And the length makes it worse.

But she probably realised it was windy and got the length altered

    • notasugarhere says:

You’re trying to convince us she knew it was going to be windy today so she had the skirt completely remade longer in a matter of hours? That’s a real stretch.

  16. Florence says:

Christ. Kate looks awful. Drink more water, woman.

    • GuestWho says:

      She really, really looks exhausted.

    • Mac says:

She needs a better dermatologist. Her Botox is so bad and nothing is being done about her under eye puffiness.

      • February Pisces says:

Her Botox Doctor needs to be fired ASAP. All they do is give her that evil ‘spock brow’.

    • Emily says:

I came to say the same thing. Kate looks much older than usual and the dress highlights how severe her weight loss is. Will looks like he’s snapping his fingers and skipping in these pictures (picturing this makes me chuckle).

      • JTrain says:

Same! If she were my friend or daughter I would feel like I needed to have a conversation with her about her health. She looks 20 years older! I’m not a Kate fan, but it just makes me want to give her a hug and a glass of wine.

Her face shows the stress the family is under from Harry and Meghan leaving.

      • Lady D says:

Her face shows the stress William is putting her under since Harry and Meghan left.
I hope every single one of them that helped force the Susssex’s out is living with the same stress and anger.

    • Bella DuPont says:

Hard drinks, lots of fags, a perpetually cheating husband and 3 young, boisterous children will do that to you, easy.

    • cc says:

She must have missed a botox appointment with all this working.

    • GM says:

I’ve said it before, but she needs to gain like 10 pounds. Her face would fill out and she would look more youthful. People experience stress in different ways, and I’m guessing that Kate uses exercise as an outlet. However, it appears she might be overdoing it. 🙁

    • P says:

Her face looks really puffy today.

  17. kerwood says:

This is a new feeling for me but I actually like what Keen Katie is wearing. I know she’ll put something hideous on soon enough, so I’m not too worried. It does look like she ran the skirt up on her Singer, though.

This is such a craven attempt to show the world that they don’t ‘need’ Harry. What kind of family does something like that? Meanwhile, a sex offender is back meeting foreign dignitaries. These people are just awful.

    • Tessa says:

CHarles did the same thing to Diana years ago when he had his picture taken with the boys and Tiggy, who was more a surrogate mother than a nanny. He was saying through those photos IMO see we don’t need you! Disgraceful. And there is Andrew out there front and center.

  18. Annie .. says:

The DNCR is William’s patronage, has been for years actually, so this is not connected with Harry at all

    • Ali says:

Would you know the last time William visited them?

    • EbonyS says:

Exactly! I just don’t understand the yarn spinning for something to easily verifiable. Next we’ll hear William signed up for this patronage years ago as a long game.

Four royals came in to visit injured servicemen and women. Glad they did.

      • Kristina says:

It’s not like I expected different, but the excuse for the vitriol here was always that they don’t work. Then they declared they were now full time royals. Everyone guffawed. But now that they’re out there so much and indeed full time royals- the criticism is as relentless as ever.

      • Maria says:

They are not “out there so much”, lol, and still not full time working royals.
And the criticism is because they actively chased out the one younger royal who has actively served and makes a mission of rehabilitating and visiting injured servicemen and women.

      • Nic919 says:

Their numbers haven’t changed compared to last year at this time. Maybe there are a ton of meetings behind the scenes, but Kate didn’t do her first public engagement until mid January and then outings at most twice a week. Only at the end of 2020 and we see numbers close to 200 will there be evidence that she has done more than ever. Her highest year was about 150 and she only did around 120 last year. Once again she’s getting credit for working more when the numbers don’t show it.

  19. YaGotMe says:

I think I’d like it better as separates? Like the skirt and boots need a crisp blouse and the jacket needs some straight leg pants? I love the idea…I think. Also the waist rides odd.

  20. Ali says:

    I love Camila’s outfit

  21. Maria says:

Kate looks worn out. And of course nary a glance between her and William. He won’t even look at her. What is going on with these two??

    • BellaBella says:

      They hate each other.

    • Tessa says:

They probably blame each other for having to do more work, such a punishment

    • Heather says:

Well, based on these photos, I would agree with you. But I’ve seen other pix from this day on IG and there are many of them smiling at each other and in communication. That’s just not how it gets spun on some sites.

      • Maria says:

I went through all the images of this event on Getty and only could find one of them talking to each other. Not smiling. There are plenty of smiling and communicative pics, but not of them with each other.

      • Ash says:

@Maria: Hate to say it given the source, but the DM has the missing pics you didn’t see before.

      • swirlmamad says:

I went to the DM article just to see what pics they are running, There’s ONE picture of her looking directly at him and he’s mid-sentence and turned towards her, but certainly not looking into her eyes. There are a bunch more photos of Kate and Camilla in convo. No lovey-dovey pigeon love as far as I can see though.

  22. Emmer says:

The visit was related to the military. Explains Kate’s look. For some odd reason she always takes Military visit to literally mean dress like the military (dress in custom) very odd and patronizing

    • Lady D says:

Cosplay is all she does on these visits. Especially if she’s with senior royals.

      • Lise says:

Imagine how much time and effort it must take to plan these outfits in advance. If only there was something else she could be spending that time doing (cough- raising money for her bankrupt charity- cough)

  23. TheOriginalMia says:

What in the world?! All that money spent to look like Victorian school marm cosplay.

Not sure why all 4 went to this event. One couple would have been fine. I actually think it would have been a stab in the back if it had just been the Cambridges. This isn’t something William has concerned himself with in the past, so I’d be suspect.

    • Linda says:

      @TheOriginalMia

      But this is William’s patronage.

      • TheOriginalMia says:

Is it? Then I’m baffled why C&C are tagging along. Don’t get me wrong. Any support for the new rehabilitation center is great, but this seems overkill, especially since this is William’s patronage.

    • yinyang says:

Attempting to associate with more serious amd harder wrking royals, must be Simon Cases idea.

    • Becks1 says:

So, I think all four going to this event also seems a little strange, since they NEVER do events like this together (or haven’t in years). But, I was reading that the land for this center was donated by the late Duke of Westminster, and he also donated 70 million pounds to the appeal, so that makes more sense to me in terms of Charles attending.

      • Smalltown Girl says:

Becks1, I read that too and that makes more sense. Charles is there because the project was important to a late, dear friend and William is there becuase it is his patronage. I mean, I am sure the happy family image doesn’t hurt but it makes more sense when you consider they each have a purpose.

    • MJM says:

I prefer this to the Meghan cosplay.

    • PrincessK says:

Apparently both Charles and William have been involved in the development of this Centre but of course it is all about good PR for them.

  24. Elisabeth says:

This is William’s patronage – he was the patron of the fundraising drive that built this rehabilitation center, and he formally opened it last year. That’s why he is there – he’s been doing things with the military for his whole adult life, as has every other British royal. Not everything has to do with Harry!

  25. Jessica says:

Argh… she dresses like a woman who is pretending to dress like an adult woman whose had a job. It doesn’t work.

  26. MellyMel says:

Girl loves a military look! I actually like the jacket, but combined with the skirt (?), it’s a very severe look. Also, agreeing with those up-thread…she needs to drink more water.

  27. Awkward symphony says:

Its basically a black version of 👇 plus lots more buttons!! McQueen is rolling in his grave🤦‍♀️

    • Sof says:

Oh, the green one looks so much better!

      • Penguin says:

This is the worst of the similar military looks. I actually liked the green and wouldn’t have minded the black and red if it wasn’t at remembrance. The best of her military looks was a blue Coat the summer she married

  28. Cidy says:

This is actually William’s patronage so I wonder if Charles tagged along with William and not the reverse? I dont think this has to do with Harry at all. I think they might do a lot of things to throw shade at him but visiting his own patronage is probably not one of them.

    • songbirds_thrive says:

Sure not everything revolves around the Sussexes, but it’s hard not to think of M&H in relation to the rest of the royals at the moment, partly because of how jealous and insecure the Cambridges and ultimately Prince Charles responded to the Sussexes’ increasing popularity. The Sussexes’ charm and genuine appeal to real people in communities across Great Britain and the Commonwealth has had an undeniable impact.

With the Sussexes no longer senior royals, it’s quite obvious that the major royals as well as the largely shameful royal reporters are feeling M&H’s absence and thus are somewhat ineffectually trying to channel their impact and ignore/ disdain them at the same time.

This rare double visit to DMRC seems like a too late show of unity in deference to supporting the monarchy’s fraying reputation. Too bad there was no show of unity of this nature by Charles & Camilla or by W&K toward M&H during the height of the press attacks against Meghan. Despite the DMRC being a patronage of William’s, this visit has obvious echoes of M&H’s visits to military sites and gymnasiums in connection with support for wounded veterans.

I’d bet that William’s initial interest in taking on this patronage may have occurred in response to Harry’s successful work with military families and wounded veterans that inspired the creation of the Invictus Games, a very healing and beneficial enterprise.

After all, even the Wales brothers’ creation of the Royal Foundation in 2009 was in large part to help raise funds for Harry’s Sentebale charity, created by Harry and Prince Seeiso in 2006. Of course, William had some charitable interests as well that came under the RF umbrella, but nothing quite as visionary and impacting as Sentebale and later, the Invictus Games.

  29. Yami says:

    More like the Drab four.

  30. Eleonor says:

I don’t know if I am reading too much but it’s the anniversary of Alexander McQueen death.

  31. Valiantly Varnished says:

That suit/dress is hideous. And probably cost a small fortune.

  32. Pierre Lecouteur says:

    YUCK!

  33. Wamama says:

My guess about the poor tailoring—they have a dress form in Kate’s size on which to tailor the clothes. Unfortunately, the dress form doesn’t take into account her atrocious posture and the puckering we’re seeing is a result of that.

  34. Andrew’s Nemesis says:

She look EXHAUSTED. Puffy faced. Too many buttons. Bulldog-licking-piss-off-a-thistle expression (as we say). Well – she wanted to be Queen Bee. No sympathy here

  35. CindyP says:

Wow, that outfit is awful, looks like a straight jacket

  36. Sass says:

Me: oh god the buttons. It looks very militaristic. I bet it’s theme dressing

    Article: veterans

😂 she can’t help it can she.

  37. khaveman says:

The outfit is a weird, trying-too-hard outfit. She looks tired – it’s the eyes.

  38. Catherine says:

Today is the 10th anniversary of Alexander McQueen’s suicide, a loving tribute to him. Which was appropriate, appreciated and fitting 💔

  39. Smalltown Girl says:

I am wondering if this is partly pr3ss management on Charles part (and partly William)? Showing Charles adn William all chummy and close, proving Charles is a father who knows how to enjoy his sounds and be close to them? Especially since this is William’s patronage.

    • Tessa says:

Maybe it’s to refute the rumors that William wants to be the next monarch. One big happy family photo op.

  40. yinyang says:

Their charity closes down and yet they continuously spend money on pampering themselves with new bespoke outfits and accessories and $50000 vacations, is anyone really falling for this?? get rid of the whole lot of them.

  41. yinyang says:

William looks so funny in all these pictures his head is like an egg, what a dork.

  42. carb says:

Kate’s buttons are oddly placed. That hem length would look better with a lower heel.
Why, in the name of courtesy, can’t Kate take her husband’s arm when walking in high heels on wet, presumably slippery surfaces? Or even stairs or marble floors? Especially in long gowns, shouldn’t the D of C & future D of W have a supporting arm?

  43. cc says:

I noticed she’s been wearing longer skirts lately, taking a page from Rose Hanbury methinks.

  44. Flying fish says:

I like and dislike Kate’s outfit? She looks a bit haggard.

Camilla looks like she usually does!

    Fab Four my ass!

  45. kirsh says:

The drab four! this is all I have to say

  46. JaneBee says:

In the long distance shots, she looks fine, but up close girlfriend looks EXHAUSTED. As many others have commented in previous posts, the obscenely photoshopped images of her that regularly run on magazine covers and in the tabloids, probably contribute to the shock at unfiltered reality.

She presumably has access to some of the world’s leading dermatologists/plastic surgeons, and we know she uses botox (even diehard Kate stans like the gofugyourself girls acknowledge this) – yet in the close ups she looks about a decade older than her actual age.

I still cannot bring myself to feel sorry for her after her part in the treatment of DoS (it may have been passive, but it was still horrid), however I don’t derive any joy from seeing the physical toll that various (Rose who?) circumstances are clearly wreaking on her face.

And for those of you who are going to chime in that this focus on her appearance is cruel and demaning to women, I’ll move to critiquing her substantive performance when she offers something more than that five question survey.

  47. RoyalBlue says:

Kate, Laura Ingalls Wilder called, she wants her outfit back.

  48. Romi says:

He looks like Sissi the empress from Austria… or a governess from the 19 century

  49. Stacy Dresden says:

Thank God there are enough buttons!

  50. Elle says:

I am just here to appreciate the reference to that great movie, Witness:
“buttons are proud.” Thank you Kaiser

  51. Margetta says:

I love her outfit. It is different and striking. I don’t think the front where it buttons seems to fit quite as well as it could, but that could be just the still photos. But I kind of love this look, actually. I’d have preferred an updo for this outfit, although if not done exactly right it could look extra severe.

  52. Katebush says:

I absolutely love this outfit. I think the high heels stop it from being too severe.

  53. paddingtonjr says:

Kate is rocking the military dominatrix look lol. I like Camilla’s outfit; the green coat fits well, the brooch is a nice touch and the boots really work with the look. At engagements, Cams really looks ENGAGED, smiling and seemingly genuinely interested in whomever she is talking to. She has fun with clothes and always looks appropriate for the occasion. Kate looks older and drawn; Cams looks age-appropriate and like she’s enjoying her life.

    • Tessa says:

I don’t think Camilla all that. THe next two monarchs don’t thrill me in the least and neither do their consorts. Camilla has to do this work, she seems to pay a lot of attention to cameras.I don’t like Camilla and how she got where she is today. Kate is not all that, and she is praised for “knowing her place.” Camilla wears the same old same old style, all probably done by dressmakers. Of course Camilla is enjoying her life, she got here at the expense of another woman. ANd schemed for it for years. Cannot stand her.

      • Jane'sWastedTalent says:

Not really. Camilla was fine with the status quo, it was Charles (and Diana before that) who drove these changes.

I tend to like Camilla though, all things considered.

  54. aquarius64 says:

This may be William’s patronage but Charles is walking ahead of them. I wonder if this is part of the royal deference he expects when he appears at an event like he and Kate didn’t get at the BAFTA s? Charles is definitely pulling rank.

  55. Jaded says:

Everything about that outfit is ridiculous and the colour only enhances her drained, exhausted looks and dark circles. Her hair looks like it’s just been tied back in a scrunchie. She is clearly going through some stress or emotional trauma, it’s written all over her face. I think her marriage is circling the toilet, Prince Andrew has shamed the entire BRF, the Queen’s support of him is inexcusable and the departure of Harry and Meghan has created a family crisis that William obviously had a big hand in. Way to go you slackers…the chickens have come home to roost.

    • Florence says:

I’m very here for all of it. I hope they enjoy the karma they’ve reaped.

    • Andrea says:

I think their marriage is in serious trouble. I expect an announcement within the next few years and one of Wild Bill’s sidepieces to surface.

  56. Lowrider says:

    Everyone looks messy and tired.

  57. Kathryn says:

I wish Celebitchy would ease up on the Kate snark. It is possible to like both Kate & Meghan. And also recognize that neither one is perfect, but doing they best they can under crazy difficult circumstances.

    • val says:

Why should we? What Kate gets on this site is not a fraction of what Meghan receives on HER OWN personal page much less the Daily Fails, tumblr, etc. etc.
I actually used to like Kate. Hell, I stayed up to watch her wedding, and was genuinely happy for her. But, after the way that her and that racist, inbred family treated Meghan, she can eff off into space for all I care. As a matter of fact, she deserves zero sympathy. If you don’t like it, then find another site to go fawn over the perfect future, future pure white queen consort to be.

    • notasugarhere says:

I wish Kate stans would stop coming to a site that has been critical of Kate’s laziness for 10 years and complaining about it. If you want a Kate-positive, Meghan-bashing site, there are plenty out there.

      • Kathryn says:

Wow stand down people – I’m just saying that it’s not an Either Or thing. I like both and that’s OK

      • JaneBee87 says:

        @notasugarhere and @val +1111111

      • yinyang says:

        @notasugarhere Exactly!!

      • Beach Dreams says:

Thank you @notasugarhere and @val. There are SO MANY sites that treat Kate like a goddess (while simultaneously trashing Meghan for breathing) and yet her fans keep coming here to whine about how “unfair” it is that we don’t kiss her ass.

And Kate is “doing the best she can under crazy difficult circumstances”? Well, she was a big contributor to those circumstances. She is not innocent in the family’s attack on the Sussexes, nor do I believe she was just passively condoning it either. She was a willing and active participant.

      • RoyalBlue says:

@kathryn Kate falls in the same category as Nagini: Complicit. So nah, miss me with that one.

      • JC says:

Then perhaps this site should quit linking to other sites that aren’t Megan stan sites. Perhaps this site should start advertising itself as a Meghan stan site instead of a celebrity gossip site.

If bowing down and worshipping Meghan is a requirement for reading here I’m out.

    • Marie says:

This place is the only place that doesn’t think Kate is a saint. If you want non stop Kate love go to the Daily Mail comment section. What they say on Meghan there is FAR worse than anything we say on Kate here.

    • Tessa says:

Kate could have helped Meghan but sat silent while gossip about her ‘making Kate cry” flooded the blogs and tabs. Well now she is paying for it by having to do work

    • kerwood says:

@Kathryn, there’s nothing wrong with liking both Meghan and Kate. But is it polite to come to a site and tell people what they should or shouldn’t say? As several people have pointed out, if one wants non-stop ‘Kween Kate’ coverage, there’s lots out there. Why criticize one of the few places where Meghan is supported?

      • notasugarhere says:

Because Kate stans hate any site that likes Meghan. They’re the worst bullies in the royal fandom, have been for a decade.

  58. Lizzie says:

The thumbnail of her face, not smiling, looked like she had been crying all night. Maybe up all night with kids, who knows. Not being critical of her looks.

  59. val says:

    She looks exhausted!
I know she has 3 young children, but I doubt that she is burning the midnight oil unless one is ill? Or perhaps she is not used to so much ‘work’!

    • MariaS says:

It’s jarring because she’s usually photoshopped.

      • JaneBee87 says:

And the super dark eye makeup is adding another two years as well. This would be such an easy fix with zero effort. I think we all hold on to a few grooming/make up habits from our youth, but this one is truly doing her no favours.

      • yinyang says:

Her lines around her mouth are particulary bad. Me and the woman I know are three years older and none of us have those yet.

  60. Lizzie says:

Kate’s clothes often look like a costume (faux military), or juvenile (little girl floral). With her beauty and figure she should do so much better. Big fan of the boots.

  61. MsIam says:

Her outfit reminds me of something from The Matrix. There was an article where some body language expert says that Kate is now the new matriarch of the royal family since the queen is getting older and needs someone she can trust. I wonder how that went over with Anne and Sophie. Camilla probably doesn’t care but still….

  62. AMM says:

Im a military spouse and a veteran myself and Kate would be dragged here in the US for her constant military cosplay at military events. Its tacky. Just dress normal, no need to invoke an officers uniform whenever you meet a service member.

Yes, militaristic fashion is a thing and lots of people where uniform inspired peices that come off the runway. Thats fine and I even like some of them. But specifically wearing them to military events is odd. Especially as a spouse to a (partime?) officer. It’s already bad enough the lot of them get fake military titles and honors all the time.

  63. Ina says:

What a super fug outfit. It’s like a Victorian meets Mao Tse Tung suit. WTH was she thinking?!?

  64. JaneBee87 says:

I checked out the different set of pics of the event on Lainey Gossip to compare, and there are also numerous shots of Kate smiling or training that well practiced adoring gaze at Normal Bill, and he doesn’t seem to acknowledge her/make eye contact in any of them. She has some bonus manic crazy eye over the top smiling going on there too. The fact he appears to be ignoring her to this extent and with Camilla and Charles to witness it, has got to sting.

  65. RoyalBlue says:

Looks like someone forgot to get her Botox and fillers.

The Fake four have shown their racist a$$es and are forever cancelled to me. When people show you who they are, believe them.

    • Tessa says:

All the horrible things said about Meghan and there is grinning Camilla, the same one who undermined the first wife every step of the way. And derided her calling Diana that ridiculous creature. The family just creeps me out.

    • YaGotMe says:

according to us she had a new round of fillers and botox a couple of weeks ago?

  66. February Pisces says:

Kate seems to be fine being with women as long as they are over 55+ that way she can look like the young attractive one. Finally William and Kate can be the couple that ‘shines’ as long as the other couple are pensioners.

  67. starryfish29 says:

The fit on that jacket is beyond awkward. Another custom blue outfit, I’m sure the British press will be all over her spending any minute now, as soon as they finish writing their fan fic about what they think W&K might be doing for valentine’s day.

  68. Penguin says:

She looks a lot like Jecca here. I don’t know if it’s the weight loss or the way her hairs tied back

  69. Lyn says:

I really dont like to comment on the looks of women in the public eye bc I get the pressure and it makes me uncomfortable as a fellow woman. But this is so distracting, so what happened to Kate’s face? I really dont get it. Seems to have aged a decade overnight, is bloated and looks like its collapsing. I find her curious nowadays.

I love the outfit though. One of my favourite of hers. I have a thing for simple, structured, clean looks. I also like a military style, though I could do with a few less buttons. Love the whole look, down to the boots.

Have never liked Camilla’s style. Sometimes its too gaudy, ordinary and basic.

    • notasugarhere says:

You’re seeing unphotoshopped pics for the first time in a long time. Jackson still ‘shops her, so you can see the blatant contrast with the photos from other agencies.

  70. coffeeisgood says:

giving me serious serena waterford vibes

  71. Bibi Johnson says:

Kate’s linebacker shoulders and non-existent hips do not need structured suits/coats like this thing she’s wearing. She needs a softer palette & relaxed fabrics. That aside, why is she looking so old? Is it the 18hr days or the sleeplessness induced from missing her married BIL? Whatever it is, she needs to stop smoking and/or fire her dermatologist.

  72. Carrie says:

    Kate morphing into Mrs Danvers.

  73. Hyacinth Bucket says:

Buttons, if you must have them, serve a purpose. WTF are they doing where they are? It’s an entirely ridiculous look, just because of that.
