Katy Perry is all smiles as she leaves a tv show

Katy Perry defends Ellen DeGeneres as a champion of equality. Like, does Katy understand that someone can champion equality and still be a massively toxic person? [JustJared]

Isn’t this the same police force that murdered Elijah McClain and teargassed protestors playing violins?

    • Gwendolyn says:

Yes, it’s the Aurora police force responsible for Elijah McClain’s death, gassing peaceful protesters and the police force that covered up a uniformed officer who passed out drunk in his car while driving. They’re a real credit to Colorado.

    • Chanteloup says:

What the AF. No matter how many times sht like this is brought to light, it never ceases being outrageous. And it’s been going on for centuries. I have police [good police] in my family I still say defund the whole rotten stinking mess and start over from the ground up.

      • Chanteloup says:

Also, it saddens and pisses me off that there are literally so many of these stories that they don’t even generate attention any more

    • Tiffany :) says:

The video of the children on hot asphalt with their hands restrained behind their backs is almost too much to take.

They were in an SUV, the “stolen vehicle” was actually a motorcycle.
Their plates were CO, they “stolen vehicle” was from Montana.

The police make excuses for needing to approach the car with GUNS DRAWN because it is so dangerous for them, but they don’t even do BASIC due diligence! They have so much power, people’s lives are in their hands, and they are SLOPPY AF!

  2. Amy Too says:

I feel like…. is it necessary for Katy Perry to say something about Ellen right now? Is her voice or her experience really what needs to be heard right now? Was anyone really going “I just don’t have all the information I need to make an informed opinion about The Ellen Show until I hear from Katy Perry?” She thought that the conversation and press coverage around Ellen would be incomplete and lacking without her statement?

    • tealily says:

Amazing that an Ellen guest (presumably) doesn’t have the same experience as her staff, isn’t it?

    • yikessss says:

this katy perry ALSO hangs out & is friends with DAVID GEFFEN.

yea, the one besties with bryan singer & all other predators in hollywood. he has a LOT to lose re: epstein & maxwell.

he tried to load a bunch of ‘cargo’ from friends this weekend (cargo = EVIDENCE) on his megayacht docked in bar harbor. he’s gonna sail off & try to elude justice.

too bad the feds are watching 😉 spielberg in trouble too…

  3. Case says:

The accusations against Ellen are widespread enough that we don’t need individual celebrities telling us she was nice to them as some sort of defense. It’s not like one person called Ellen out so people want to present another side of the story — it’s a problem that spread throughout her entire show and many guests also experienced. Many VIEWERS could even see it. I’m sure Ellen is nice to her friends in the industry, that doesn’t make her a kind person.

  4. Izzy says:

Katy should take note: Meryl Streep said that Harvey Weinstein was nice to her. Didn’t make him a less disgusting human being. How you treat a specific person and the workplace environment you create CAN be mutually exclusive.

    • detritus says:

That’s what it gave me echoes of too. It sucks that people need to be reminded that abusers groom allies just as well as they groom targets.

And Katy is being dense af if she thinks her star power relative to the staffers doesn’t provide special treatment.

      • Lex says:

Maybe she is just trying to make Ellen feel not alone. Even if you aren’t the nicest person, having the whole world turn on you must be quite scary and alienating

  5. Mrs. Peel says:

Oh look, Ellen has one friend! Don’t see any other celebs stepping up to defend her. Speaks volumes.

    • tempest prognosticator says:

Where’s Jennifer Aniston? Aren’t they very good friends? That’s always been the impression they both give… such good pals. Why is Aniston being so quiet?

    • ethy says:

Kevin Hart has spoken for her which also speaks volumes. Guess he owes her since she basically sponsored his Oscar apology.

  6. Lizzie Bathory says:

Oh, Katy, this is going to go over like a fart in church.

Also, Pump Up the Volume is amazing! It really holds up after all these years.

  7. Deanne says:

Why would I give a rat’s ass what Katy Perry or any other celebrity “friend” of Ellen has to say? When will Pink chime in? She performs the theme song. They don’t work for her so they can’t speak about what kind of work environment she fosters. Like someone else said above, Meryl Streep said that Harvey Weinstein was always nice to her. It means nothing.

  8. manta says:

Well maybe she just answered Nacho Figueras’ cry to rally around Ellen because apparently his moments on the show were nothing but positive and Ellen makes the world a better place.
I’ m sure all those who don’t care about what any celebrity has to say will, naturally, be as severe with him as with Perry.

  9. Valiantly Varnished says:

Katy continues to prove that despite all her personal “growth” she’s still a complete dumba$$

  10. Mtec says:

Many reports of Ellen’s cruelty mentioned how the big name celebs often get treated better by Ellen, so ofc Katy would know nothing about any toxicity from Ellen if that’s the case.

I’ve also heard her say before that if her employees are not happy to be there, they can leave. So to her they’re her minions, who can be dismissed anytime they make a complaint or are not consistently and robotically happy and grateful for the privilege to work on her show. That also creates an atmosphere of abuse because no one feels encouraged to speak up about what’s troubling them. For years she’s sounded like a bully to everyone except for the celebs she likes.

  11. STRIPE says:

Of course she was nice to Katy – she has no power over her. These kinds of people get a sick joy of embarrassing/abusing people below them. Katy does not work for her, therefor she would not get that treatment. Period.

  12. vertes says:

My mother’s neighbor for years in a senior retirement center was Ellen’s father. Ellen’s stepmother didn’t have anything nice to say about Ellen.

  13. Ms_TheTea says:

“Well he never was aggressive to ME and he didn’t spike MY drink, so I can’t imagine him being violent towards ANY woman…”

That. THAT is how clueless Katy Perry seems right now. That cheap-looking overly peroxided lace-front must be squeezing her brain too tightly…

  14. Valerie says:

Jeanine won’t get a vaccine but will maintain her Botoxed face at any cost. Okay. See if that saves her, should the worst occur.

    • Stacy Dresden says:

      God! I know, right!

    • Lucy2 says:

She’ll get one. She just will lie and say she refused.
Just like the Fox News people who are saying it’s a hoax and we should open up, are still reporting from home or taking other precautions.

      • Valerie says:

Yep. If questioned, they’d probably say they were just following orders (like you-know-who) or doing it to avoid being criticized by crazed liberals — as if that ever stopped them before!

  15. You Must Be Joking says:

Finally a pile on I can get excited about. Boo. Boo, Ellen.

  16. Delphine says:

I hope this family sues the Aurora PD to kingdom come for this. This is beyond despicable.

  17. LaUnicaAngelina says:

The Pump Up the Volume premier photos were amazing! Ahhhh the 90s.

  18. Ange says:

Having been to the war museum in New Orleans as a foreign visitor it doesn’t surprise me at all that America has a fraught relationship with its own history, they certainly don’t like including anyone else in it that’s for sure.

  19. Miaowmix says:

All the Ellen stuff is reminding me of my career in women’s mags that I left because of the systemic bullying. People come up through the ranks being bullied by editors. The nice people leave. The people who survive often become bullies themselves (perhaps because only people with that mindset can survive their way to the top). The chain continues. So many people I know were tipped into depression and anxiety, left with zero work confidence, and ended up leaving the industry altogether because of the bullying they received day in day out. All of the bully editors were nice as pie to eg celebs we were shooting, PRs who could get them stuff etc (obvs!). Had a few favourites in the team. Then treated most people – especially the scapegoats they really liked to punish – like dirt.

Fun fact: I left women’s mags to work in a different type of publication in a different department. Some mags people followed me over and are in the process of eliminating my department so I will lose my job. There is no escape!

    Time for career 3!!!
