Every few years, like clockwork, people will yell at David Beckham for one particular āissue.ā That issue is that heās a loving, affectionate and kissy father. Heās always been an affectionate father to all of his four kids. Heās always hugged them and held them and kissed them. He adores his children and whatever Davidās faults as a husband, Iāve always believed that heās a great dad. Victoria Beckham posted the Instagram, above, of what looks like a trip to a farm (or something, who knows). As you can see, David kissed Harper Seven on the lips. Scandal!
Both Victoria and David kiss their kids on the lips. Itās been talked about so many times, even Vicky and David have spoken about it interviews, and theyāve both basically said āwhatās your problem?ā I didnāt come from a kiss-on-the-lips family, but tons of people do. Itās not gross, itās affectionate and sweet.
Also: while Victoria and David completely adore all four of their kids, itās pretty obvious that Harper is their special one. Sheās the baby, she gets tons of one-on-one time with her parents, and sheās their longed-for only daughter after they thought they were only going to have sons.

So much judgement about one’s preference @ kisses!! But since they KNOW it’s open to criticism, why would she post it? Not smart unless she’s looking for the attention.
Maybe she thought it was a sweet picture (it is) and DGAF what some people say? I don’t think she should have to refrain from sharing an image she likes because somebody might say something about it. It’s social media, *somebody* is *always* going to have a comment.
That’s true!
2020 really should be the year where we stop looking for problems that aren’t there.
Geez I can think of so much worse and this isnāt bugging me whatsoever. Iām more irked about the photographer kidās privilege crud.
I come from and have my own smooch on the lips family. What a dumb and none of your business thing to get riled up about. I hope this photo was a f-you to the naysayers š
I dont come from a kiss on the lips family, but I made one of my own and I love it! š¤ š¤ š¤
Me too! My family was severely repressed and dysfunctional – barely hugging even. When I started dating my husband his family was kissy – including Dad kissing his boys on the lips. Struck me as really weird at the time – but once I had my own baby girl – I couldn’t imagine not kissing her on the lips! Plus I have thought since that kissing family on the lips helps to demystify it a bit. When I had my first kiss with a boy it was literally my first kiss on the lips and the weight of that was TOO MUCH. If I’d grown up kissing family it would have brought a much different frame of reference – and one that I believe is much healthier.
Weāre kissers in my family. As adults or even with my oldest child we tend to kiss on the cheeks more than lips, but this is normalized throughout my family and I see nothing wrong with it as long as all parties are comfortable. Other people may not like it and thatās their prerogative, but itās ridiculous and I feel bad for David that heās receiving flack over this. We have so much division going on right note that we really shouldnāt be trying to create it in regards to a parent showing nature affection to their child.
same in my family. My grandparents were from Groningen Netherlands and I am not sure if it is common there but they have always given a peck on the mouth and so it is normalized in my family. Now when my husband visited he thought it was so strange and gross when we did it – but of course NOBODY tried to kiss him on the mouth.
It is a common expression of love in some families. It is okay to do it and it is okay not to do it.
My boys both love to kiss me on the lips. Shrug.
agreed that for all his faults as a husband, David Beckham seems to be a really engaged father.
Whatever faults as a husband if they are true, atleast he is discreet. Other than the Rebecca Loos saga i really have not heard about any indiscretions in all these years, maybe that taught him not to be sloppy.
The brave boy coming to take her out on her first date and her father and three brothers open the door. Lol
Or brave girl.
(Don’t mean to be petty, just longing for the day this is normalized, even in passing comments)
+1. š
Well, he said Victoria made him supervise their sons’s (Brooklyn?) first date and apparently he expects Victoria to do the same with Harper…
I come from a family who would give pecks on the lips when saying hello or goodbye. Seriously no big deal. (just have to bring up the people who are outraged of pictures of kissing his grandchildren on the head or lips, but have no issue with photos of Donald and Ivanka in what most people would be inappropriate poses as they are father and daughter….)
Do the people making a big deal of this realize THEY are the weird ones, not him? All families are different. Some do lip kisses, some do cheek kisses or hugs. Itās fine as long as all parties involved are comfortable with it.
As the daughter of a distant, emotionally cold father can I say… how about we celebrate affectionate fathers who shower their kids with love, hugs and kisses!
I was just coming to say something similar, of all the problems in the world, openly affectionate fathers is not one of them. Itās beautiful and should be celebrated.
I come from a long line of people who believe a firm handshake is a sign of affection so this “scandal” to me is baffling, are people really so fussed that these people adore their kids? Everyone should be so lucky to have love and affection in their life.
In my family, we kiss each other on the cheek, but as an older child and adult, I don’t kiss my parents or siblings on the lips. I just find it weird. And when it continues, I can’t help but feel Donald and Ivanka vibes. I will always prefer a big hug to a kiss from my family anyway.
I don’t have kids and I give kisses to my dog so I won’t judge.
This is so stupid. But because people are stupid, and Mr. Kisses knows this, all of this was predictable. He asked for it.
I wont kiss my niece or nephew on the mouth but everyone else in my family does. It just icks me out. Their little mouths are always wet or they have something sticky on their faces. No judgment for others though. There is nothing inappropriate about this and anyone who thinks it is inappropriate has the problem.
When so many kids grow up in unaffectionate, unstable, broken and often violent families people are kvetching about kissing your kids on the lips….? Whatever bumps in the road the Beckhams have had to deal with in their marriage, they have always been excellent and loving parents.
To hell with naysayers, get all the affection you can from your little ones before they become teens and don’t want it anymore or are too busy for a cuddle.
It’s just a phenomenally short time before they’re grown.
One set of my grandparents were “lip kissers” and it wasn’t weird at all. I remember staying with them as a child and giving both of them a peck on the lips as a goodnight kiss. It’s sweet, not weird, as long as everybody is comfortable with it. Oddly, my mom (their daughter) and my dad were not affectionate people at all. So I’m glad I got some grandparent love! My other set of grandparents were more huggers but were also more affectionate than my parents. But my parents are a whole other subject in general (strange, much stranger than either set of my grandparents…odd, since they raised them).
The only thing that upsets me with these photos, is David’s hat… I loathe it
Maybe it’s cultural thing, but lip kissing a kid really creeps me out, sorry š
But I would never hate on someone online for that !
FFS, my dad kissed me on the lips my whole life, until he passed, it was a quick peck and a greeting, not a big deal AT ALL. I’d do anything for one more hug or icky kiss.
I kissed my kids on the lips to about they got teenagers. It wasnāt a big deal it just seemed that kissing on the lips period was over.
Iām still kissing my youngest son on the lips and I really charitize it.
My dad kissed my on the lips as a kid and I turned out ok. My parents and I can walk around almost naken and my youngest son will often sit on the toilet and to me when Iām inte shower.
