I don’t even know how to explain what’s going in modern politics over the past five or six years. There are certain people, mostly men (but not exclusively men) who are just… not as smart as they think they are. I don’t know how else to explain this without cursing excessively. I don’t have the political language to explain the die-hard cult-of-personality-support of someone like Bernie Sanders or Donald Trump. I don’t even comprehend how reasonable people could ever support Donald Trump. And I especially don’t get how people – mostly men – within a heavily marginalized American community could take the side of their oppressors, the very people who are hellbent on oppressing them. The only explanation I can come up with is that for someone like Ice Cube or Lil’ Wayne, they’re too dumb to understand (or admit) that they are being conned by the dumbest con man in town. So, yeah, Lil’ Wayne endorsed Donald Trump:

Lil Wayne has never been pro-black. For years he’s been saying that police brutality doesn’t bother him. Just to be clear he wasnt denying the brutality. He was just saying that he’s in a different tax bracket and therefore its no longer his concern.

I don’t have any words about why anyone would endorse Trump but the thing that kills me is that Joe Biden has tons of celebs who’ve endorsed him (not to mention the countless musicians who have ordered the Trump campaign to stop using their music) and the MAGAs are ecstatic when a single famous person comes out in favor of Trump. The disparity is notable and their enthusiasm for their own tiny “victories” is just way out of proportion.

It affected 10% of Federal prisoners–which turned out to be … all of 3,100 hundred people. That. is. it. Wayne has no idea what he’s talking about. And guess what? I’m not a criminal, so that has nothing to do with my life. trump’s other policies, on the other hand, affect me every day (re-routing school funds, claiming there is no systemic racism, blocking fair housing programs, etc.).

I caught a snippet of Trump’s speech yesterday (didn’t change the radio station fast enough) and his plan for the Latino community, with billions of dollars invested and a bazillion jobs created, etc.. First, last, only thought was he was pandering for votes cause he knows he’s in trouble, IF he is re-elected that plan will never see the light of day, and is there anyone who actually bought what he was trying to sell?!

Whoever said it is correct and something I’ve noticed since my late teens. White women and Black men tend to occupy the space of being both victims/villains simultaneously. It’s weird and it almost takes a dissertation to explain it, but it really is true and makes the fight for equality so difficult to achieve.
