Duchess Meghan will executive produce a Netflix animated series, ‘Pearl’

Meghan Markle visits the mothers2mothers (m2m) charity in Cape Town,

We’ve been waiting for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to announce more projects with their Netflix deal. Before now, the only series they’ve confirmed is a docu-series about Invictus Games athletes, and I’m really looking forward to that. Their second project is apparently an animated series about inspirational women. They’re working with David Furnish, who is Elton John’s husband.

Meghan and Prince Harry’s second Netflix project will focus on a 12-year-old girl’s adventures in an animated series. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s Archewell Productions announced Wednesday that the working title “Pearl” will be developed for the streaming service. Meghan created the idea of the family-focused animated series, which was inspired by a variety of women from history.

Meghan will serve as an executive producer with filmmaker David Furnish, who worked as a producer on “Rocketman” and “Sherlock Gnomes.”

“Like many girls her age, our heroine Pearl is on a journey of self-discovery as she tries to overcome life’s daily challenges,” Meghan said in a statement. “I’m thrilled that Archewell Productions, partnered with the powerhouse platform of Netflix, and these incredible producers, will together bring you this new animated series, which celebrates extraordinary women throughout history.”

The couple recently signed a deal to create content for Netflix and are creating content podcasts for Spotify. The first project with Netflix will center on the Invictus Games, which gives sick and injured military personnel and veterans the opportunity to compete in sports.

[From The NY Post]

My guess is that as Pearl tries to deal with her own life and struggles, she learns more about the life and struggles of famous women throughout history. The Eleanor Roosevelts, Harriet Tubmans, Rosa Parks and Coretta Scott Kings of history. I mean, that would be my pitch for it, God knows how Meghan pitched it. Remember when the British papers were trying to make it sound like Harry and Meghan were going to be responsible for The Crown? They always said they just wanted to make family programming and stuff like that though.

I hope the structure/plot for Pearl is like you’ve described. I’m really looking forward to seeing it, regardless. I’m so happy that Harry & Meghan got this deal with Netflix; it’s a great tool for the changes they wish to promote.

    • Elizabeth Regina says:

There are those who do and there are those who Kannot. Massive congrats to the Duchess of Success.

    • Amelia says:

Cue some animation score promoting the Keenwell centre for buttons or EarthShot on the keen’s YouTube page in 3…2…1…

    • Me says:

When I was a child, I loved children’s biographies of accomplished women and novels for girls about finding a career—this is just the sort of thing that can give a ten-year-old or so a larger vision of life. Wholesome fare for which there is an endless appetite.

      • iconoclast59 says:

@Me, I like to joke that I was a feminist coming out of the womb! I grew up in the 60s, and feminism was barely a blip on the radar in Middle America. Yet, like you, I instinctively gravitated towards books about women every time I went to the library. Amelia Earhart, Elizabeth Blackwell, Marie Curie, Helen Keller… I read their biographies over and over; I couldn’t get enough of women’s stories. And yes, those stories showed me there was a world of possibilities out there!

  2. Nomegusta says:

‘We don’t bow now, we make money moves’

    Booked and Bizzay!!!

I love the way they move in silence and how all those royal trash boxes learn this news when the general public does. We all know they’d snitch if they did know AND it’s not their business.

Also, kudos for releasing too late for the British press to do anything same day 😂

    • Midnight@theOasis says:

And you know it pisses them off when H&M intentionally release information so they can’t do anything the same day. Not only do they not get advance notice they get the info a day late😂🤣😂

    • Elizabeth Regina says:

Don’t you just love it? The rats can make do with the cutie calendars from now on.

      • Lori says:

Dm spent the nite coming up with the headline that Megan means Pearl in Welsh. So its obviously all about her. Thats all they got, but they have laid it out as a scab for haters to pick at.

      • Eurydice says:

@Lori – It’s actually not dragged out of nowhere. Meghan is a derivative of Margaret, which means pearl in Greek. But that still doesn’t mean the series is all about Meghan.

  3. Midnight@theOasis says:

Wonderful news for Team Sussex. This actually sounds interesting and has potential. Let’s see how many ways the Rota Rats and BM spin this simple announcement. They’re probably gleeful they finally have some Meghan content to misrepresent and lie about ad nauseam.

    • Elizabeth Regina says:

They are her best marketing and PR team. Add to that the trolls and Netflix won’t have to spend a penny on promotion. A win-win all round.

    • Vavavoom says:

Well, they’ve already decided that it is going to be autobiographical because Meghan means ‘pearl’ in some definition. I mean they could be right, but really, did we need articles about it. Grasping! LOL

  4. Over it says:

Today is a wonderful day. I am so proud of the duchess of hard work. I hope it’s a hit and many more to come. Plus I hope that the palaces and media are loosing sleep over this.

    • Truthiness says:

Plus it’s another project that has nothing to do with royalty, you can’t say that this idea is trading on royal status or selling out the family. The milk commercial and Pitch@palace could only exist by trading on royal status, funny how we didn’t hear backlash over those money making projects

      • Elizabeth Regina says:

Isn’t God good? Her every move makes that family look less than mediocre. The spin off from this animation series is huge. It pleases my petty mind greatly.

      • Eurydice says:

Oh, but they’re already pointing out that the announcement says “Duchess of Sussex.”

      • Truthiness says:

They are back to criticizing Meghan for existing and daring to use her married name eh? I hope eventually those old crows will be distracted by the shiny objects closer at hand, Edward & Sophie, Andrew’s pedophilia, his $18M Swiss chalet and new Bentley, and anyone pulling focus from Charles.

  5. Snuffles says:

I’m pretty sure this project is well underway. When the Netflix deal was first announced a year ago this idea was mentioned in addition to Harry doing a nature program.

But, do you hear that? It’s the collective sigh of relief from RRs and the royal family that Meghan gave them something new to parse down to the atom, over analyze and spin to kingdom come. How many white women will she include? Will she include the Queen? Will she include conservative women? Will it be full of “woke nonsense”? Will she take sly digs at the monarchy?

I’m sure they were terrified of the Sussex’s being completely quiet this summer. My guess is that this will be ready to air by this fall. Then Meghan will return to the promo circuit.

    • Harper says:

The outrage of not including the Queen’s story will be held against Meghan on this one. A young woman, newly-wed with a young family, finally finds happiness while living in a sun-dappled villa in Malta. But her idyll is shattered when the sudden death of her father forces her to return to her homeland and assume a life of luxury, privilege, and extreme wealth. So inspirational.

      • Elizabeth Regina says:

LOL! You have a gift, Harper!

      • Sid says:

This is the comment of the week!

      • Eleonora says:

There are so many women in history who deserve the spotlight.

Often just a few historical women are getting some spotlight, but there are so many more.

Writers, artists, rulers, innovators, scientists, protestors, educators, resistors etc etc.

And that despite all the many, many MANY attempts by men to keep women dumb, to not allow them to work for a salary, to not allow us to join guilds, to bind our feet so we could barely walk, to keep us locked inside, to forbid us to learn how to write, to accuse us of witchcraft, immorality, sinfulness, whenever we go slightly beyond being as small as they want us to be.

Even now, in entertainment, men often try to reduce women to the sexy ‘chick’ dancing around them in as little fabric as possible (check out a few random MVs by male singers and see how prevalent that shit is).

So proud of Meghan for doing this.

The crazy thing is that my first instinct is to apologize for writing this so boldly.

        But I won’t.

    • Izzy says:

I was thinking the same thing: they will tie themselves into pretzels making this some kind of “snub” towards the RF. If she does include the Queen, it’s “how dare they, they are trading on the Queen’s name, blah blah,” and if they don’t, it’s a “deliberate snub and everyone is terribly hurt.”

They shouldn’t bother including TQ. Let the Sussexes continue to live rent-free in their dim little minds.

    • MMadison says:

Don’t forget the storyline that Meghan will use Diana as inspiration for Pearl.

    • LaraW” says:

I mean, from a certain perspective, almost everything Meghan cares about can be construed as a dig at the monarchy due to whole “the sun never sets on the British Empire.” I don’t think she’ll focus on just famous US women, but also women whose stories haven’t been told because they were buried and erased by the crushing weight of the British Empire (and other empires). It would be on brand for her, especially since she promotes and elevates community based organizations in her charitable work: how many female community leaders are missing from the annals of history because their impact was specific to a certain geographical area and therefore “not important” enough to be recognized (by men) because they didn’t become president, start a revolution, or simply didn’t come from a nation Western historians considered “important?”

Also at this point, the BM take everything Meghan does to be some kind of personal insult against them. They’re seriously going to hate watch a children’s series. Which is incredibly pathetic. It’s like hate watching The Magic School Bus.

      • LaraW” says:

Also I seriously hope one of the women is Rosalind Franklin. It still pisses me off that Watson and Crick stole her work, which was absolutely vital to discovering DNA has the structure of a double helix. They took credit for the discovery, didn’t give her the recognition she was due until they were essentially forced to by the scientific community— and posthumously at that. She died too soon because she worked in x-ray diffraction images and was exposed to a lot of radiation.

      • MMadison says:

@Lara, it makes you wonder how much of true history has been lost

    • Christine says:

      Agreed, Snuffles!

My guess, this will drop in the next three weeks , and make the royal family look stupid, per usual. Nothing is ever announced about Meghan’s projects, unless they are about to be an actual real thing. It’s like she’s a powerful woman who cannot be held down, who knew?

  6. Red Weather Tiger says:

I love this concept—there are endless possibilities in not only history and politics but in art, science, literature…. I look forward to watching!

  7. Merricat says:

This is a great project, and I can’t wait to see the finished product.

  8. MsIam says:

Congrats to Meghan. She has a lot of prestigious people working on it so its more than just a “hobby”. I’m glad she and Harry are making this work and showing they are serious about their business. I guess to the Dan Woottons of the world this makes them “egomaniacs” but oh well!!

    • JT says:

I just love how everyone they work with is so talented and respected. The Sussexes have Emmy winners and Oscar nominated people willing to create projects with them. It makes those bullying claims look even more absurd. If H&M were truly terrible, they would have never been able to line up this caliber of talent.

    • Becks1 says:

The names attached to this project just go to show how serious Meghan is about putting out a quality product, and how well respected she is among the hollywood community. There was some debate here last week about how whether her global image has been “trashed.” Well, I think its clear that it has not been.

      • MsIam says:

Nah, it wasn’t a debate, just a troll. People know Harry and Meghan got this.

      • taris says:

yeah … it’s lovely that h+m can bring together such knowledgeable people for their projects. the best people are so excited to work with them (elton john’s husband is a co-creator or co-producer on ‘pearl’). combine their technical expertise with the sussexes’ ideas, it’s gonna be real interesting to see what they do moving forward.

i have to say, when they left the firm last year i believed – then and now – they were gonna be better off alone, doing their own thing, and finally able to execute their vision far from the archaic monarchy.

it’s so cool being a fan of these two.

      • BlueToile says:

Honestly, I think it is fair to say that both H&M’s reputation has been trashed to a significant, but maybe not majority, of people in both the UK, Australia, EU, and lesser extent, US. We see the hateful comments daily on any article or video about either of them. Yes, decent people with critical thinking skills and an ounce of common sense see right thru the media’s vendetta, but there are plenty who don’t. I noticed yesterday that Newsweek had an article titled “Meghan Markle Court Privacy Hope’s Dealt Reality Check By Soccer Case.” I read the entire freakin’ article and it really had nothing to do with Meghan at all. It’s like they attached her name to the case and article just to make it look like she had personally suffered some type of loss in court. I remember when Newsweek was a respectable news source. My point is that hate on her (and Haz) sells. I don’t care who you are or how successful you are, that has to hurt.

  9. aquarius64 says:

Sounds like a wonderful project and I’m glad the AMERICAN press the news first.

  10. TheOriginalMia says:

I’m excited for the series. Sounds very inspiring. The Derangers were at it after this announcement, disparaging David Furnish’s bonafides and accusing Meghan of choosing him as a LGBTQ token. It was disgusting.

    • Merricat says:

I don’t swim in the shallow end of the twitter pool. The collective IQ is single digit.

      • I could not agree with you more! This morning when I woke up, the first thing on my Twitter feed was about how Megan Markel is now producing a show and calling her self pearl. I, too, hope the Royals are losing sleep over this and I also hope they are looking at what can be done when you actually do civil service and actually do work, instead of just showing up to an event.

  11. Hyperbolme says:

I adore H+M but seriously they’ve only put out one podcast since that big announcement in December and I’m kind of wondering if there’s anything else coming now.

    • JT says:

These sorts of projects take time. It’s not something that can be slapped together overnight because they need to put content out. H&M put in the work first before they drop their projects. They seem to be very thorough and they have been able to attract top tier talent to help them. They’ve hired an award winning reporter to head up their podcast division, so work is underway. As many have said here before, the Obamas took a whole year before their first podcast came out. This “wait” is nothing new. When you are focusing on quality, it’s best to take your time.

      • Emile says:

        Agree 100%

I also wish we can get to a point where royal watchers (and royal reporters) stop following H&M because they literally know NOTHING about how the entertainment industry works. People who are actually interested in Hollywood (and especially the behind-the-scenes stuff) know that these things take time, which is why the Hollywood Reporter, Deadline and Variety (and their readers) would never ask questions about release dates, etc. They know the amount of time and work it takes to get something from the conceptual phase to people’s eyes and ears.

Although they themselves might not necessarily want it, my hope for H&M is that we get to a point where they are reported on only by entertainment publications and are treated like any other high-profile Hollywood figures. It would make their lives and the public reception of their work so much easier.

      • Sofia says:

Shonda Rhimes launched her first Netflix project 4 years after it was announced she had a deal. It took Ryan Murphy 15 months to launch his first project for Netflix. And these two are seasoned producers.

        These things take time.

    • Woke says:

They just hired a producer for their podcast.
I guess by the end of the year we’ll have something.

    • Haylie says:

Feels more like concern trolling. The same concern trolling heard from British tabloids and derangers about TMYCS and Netflix content.

    • Snuffles says:

Of course there is. Let me explain as someone who worked in the entertainment industry for a while. Projects take time. Sometimes years before they come to fruition. Especially if you want to do it right and put out high quality material.

Let me give you an example. The live action version of The Little Mermaid was announced 3 years ago. Halle Bailey just wrapped production. And she auditioned for the role in 2018! And it’s not even close to being done because now it goes into post production.

The people who work for Spotify and Netflix know this. I can say 💯 without a doubt they aren’t pressed about this at all. Because they are privy to the progress Harry and Meghan are making behind the scenes.

Anyone acting like there is trouble with these is a hater trying to stir up drama.

      • Carmen-JamRock says:

Moreover, when deals are struck & contracts written, dates and timelines are integral elements of that process. Obviously, neither Netflix nor Spotify is worried abt anything.

And while it annoys the sh!t out of the rest of us to hear concerned trolls and assorted other flotsam & jetsam spouting off, I bet Netflix, Spotify & Archewell are pleased to know interest remains as high as ever.

      • Christine says:

We learned of Meghan’s book when it was already to the point it was available for pre-purchase, and it was out in physical form a few weeks later. You are going to need to find a real argument if you want to take on this crowd, we are all the way up on how the Susseses get battered, and we are still in their corner.

ETA: Sorry, I need to specify, re. Meghan and her bookS. Her children’s book is the one I was referring to. The cookbook also followed the same announce and be available for purchase in a reasonable amount of time. I know, you are super confused by timeliness and a work ethic.

    • MsIam says:

Umm, high risk pregnancy and a pandemic? Book launch, Apple special, not to mention the interview of the year. Wasn’t one of the Rota Rats just whining about the Sussexes having too much on their plate? Where have you been, sounds like you missed everything?

      • taris says:

i don’t work in entertainment but even i know you don’t get signed for projects and then have something out in 2 weeks. some have pointed out that the obamas and shonda, for example, signed their deals and only started releasing their projects, like, a year later.
people, we’re still in a freaking pandemic, h+m have 2 babies, they’ve been building relief centers all over the world, they’re putting their teams together still, and their deals are *multi-year*. you will get your fill of the sussexes, eventually. damn.
some people sound like the rota with the concern trolling.

    • Becks1 says:

      Of course there is.

This isn’t the equivalent of someone like Dax Shepard moving his Armchair Expert podcast to Spotify – that’s already established, up and running, years of content, etc. He’s just moving it exclusively to Spotify.

H&M need to create their podcasts from scratch, and they are going to be quality. That’s going to take time.

  12. Pao says:

    Im so exited for this!

  13. ABritGuest says:

Sounds interesting & some pretty good talent involved. Funny to see their news coming through trades so it’s just factual without the nasty rota spin. I look forward to Katie Nicholls ‘ ‘royal sources’ who couldn’t tell us anything in advance suddenly having all the info on this series. The ship is tight & the rota are finding out same time as rest of us. Really shows how unprofessional & leaky the palaces were.

So in 7 months Harry & Meghan have funded community relief centres with one already set up, chaired Vax Life, started work on series about Invictus, created & started work on animated series, published a book, set up partnership with procter & gamble & had a baby. They’ve been busy (not even incl things like appearance on James Corden) & clearly a lot BTS we don’t know about

    • JT says:

I love how stealthily they move. It shows how unprofessional the royal way of working is, which all the leaks and constant teasing of “projects.” They must be in heaven right now. Since the interview they’ve continued to focus on the work and move forward with their projects. While Cain is still engorged with rage, obsessing over their next moves and trying to play their game, H&M just quietly get to business.

    • MsIam says:

I’m really impressed with them. And its not just about having money either. There are plenty of people who have money who are floundering. And all this without being on Twitter and IG saying “look at me!” every five seconds. Pay attention Chrissy T.

    • ABritGuest says:

I forgot Harry released TMYC too, started at Better Up & that Aspen Institute he’s a commissioner for released an interim report setting out their goals.

The rota really cannot say they didn’t want to ‘work’ because now he’s supporting himself bet Harry has never worked so hard.

And yea it will be like British Vogue with meltdowns if series doesn’t include the feminist Queen & revolutionary Kate. British press will also be upset if conservatives like Maggie Thatcher aren’t involved. Of course if she does include any royals they will also be upset that she’s ‘trading on royal status’.

      • JT says:

I think this fall we will see more of H&M. It looks like they’re getting ready to get out there . I’m excited for them. I hope it’s like You Coulda Had a Bad Bitch Tour 24/7.

    • BlueToile says:

You are right, ABritGuest. H&M have been incredibly productive since leaving thw UK. Meanwhile, within the same time frame I am barely getting motivated to leave my couch. Lol!

  14. mariahlee says:

Oh this is something I can get behind! I’m childless and fatherless, so The Bench didn’t really appeal to me. And then I’m hardly ever interested in Harry’s things. But I love animated series and love celebrating women so woo!

  15. Woke says:

I just hope we’ll get to meet influential women in their field not known to the general public.
That’s a way the show can truly make a mark.
Really proud of her and it’s sound so Meghan.

  16. Amy Bee says:

I remember when the Netfix deal was announced it was reported that Meghan was working on an animated series about women in history. It’s very exciting and I can’t wait for it to come out.

  17. Sofia says:

Considering Meghan doesn’t tend to announce her projects until they’re nearly done, I wouldn’t be surprised to hear that this is in post production (or at least getting close). Aligns well with Meghan’s interest and could be a nice family watch. There’s also some great talent behind it.

    • taris says:

wouldn’t be surprised if there were a few cool cameos (inspiring women + lili perhaps?). idk. knowing how h+m work, they always have something unexpected and exciting up their sleeve.

  18. Chelsea says:

The talent they’ve got assembled here is fantastic. The showrunner worked on Steven Universe, DC”s Super Hero Girls, and Gravity Falls and they also have one of the producers from Tangled and there are multiple Emmy winnere attached. Mind you they haven’t even released the names of the animators yet. This should be good. As was pointed out in some of the initial coverage of the Netflix deal, Netflix is trying to get into more animated stuff so not surprised this was one of Archewell’s first announced projects. So happy for Meghan!

    • MsIam says:

Tangled was one of my favorite animated movies, I think I enjoyed it more than my kids, lol. Much better than sitting through the Pokemon movie or the Rugrats. That was torture! I was excited to see someone from Tangled on the Sussexes team.

    • Eurydice says:

Yes, this is how one uses advantages and connections to get things done. Not just to show your grinning face for the cameras. Best of luck to Meghan and the whole team!

    • jwoolman says:

Gravity Falls (Disney, but not the sugary type) had pretty good female characters, and Steven’s Universe (Cartoon Network) was practically all female except for Steven…. The aliens were essentially crystalline, born of rock and female in humanoid form. Steven was an unusual combination of a male human father and an alien mother. When he first learned to fuse (it’s an alien thing, they combine with each other to make larger and more powerful new entities who can separate again at will), it was with his female human bestie and the result presented as female.

I lost track of Steven’s Universe at some point so don’t even know if new episodes are appearing or how it developed, but it was very well done and very interesting. Not the usual kiddie cartoon fare at all. Very creative.

  19. Dee says:

Hope she adds some Easter eggs to the animated series. Maybe a character eating avocado toast? A little girl who doesn’t want to wear tights? A bench? Dark nail polish?

  20. S808 says:

This sounds like a really cute and wholesome show! Definitely something I would’ve watched after school when I was younger. I wonder what their work day is like. They have much in the works that we know/knew about and probably a billion things left to be announced.

    • Shirleygail says:

@S808….Up btwn 4:30 & 5:00 for some light yoga. Dogs are let out. Archie and Lilli awake at 6:00. Everyone eats breakfast, including chicks (fed on the way). Down to the beach for some dog walks & swims. Harry leaves at 8:00. Meghan works from home with the help of a ‘Mother’s Helper’. Meghan breaks for lunch noonish w/kiddies, everyone naps. Up btwn 1:30-2:00 and enjoys free time. Harry is home by 4:00 latest. Harry takes Puli and Archie for a walk & maybe some errands. Gus stays w/Meghan and Lilli – he’s not leaving his ‘girls’ no matter what. Before supper, everyone enjoys some swim time. Then supper, bath time, reading, and bed. Lilli goes down whenever she wants. Harry and Meghan check in w/each other, lovingly check on the kiddies, and to bed, perchance to dream. When Meghan has an appointment, Harry covers. Doria comes for weekends, when H&M can enjoy a date night. ….. In my imagination, of course!!

      • Anne Call says:

Haha, you left out the part where the baby was up at midnight, 3 and then wakes at 6…otherwise sounds like a nice day.

      • Anne Call says:

Kelly, my husband paddle boarded yesterday in Montecito with just a swimsuit on. In winter he wears a neoprene shirt also but never a wetsuit. Now if your surfing and lying in the water for a long time on your board you may wear a wetsuit top in the summer, but most Californians are used to ocean temps being a bit cooler than east coast.

  21. TeamAwesome says:

The name Meghan means Pearl. Do we think the title character will look like Meghan circa writing in about the dish soap commercial? Super excited for this show! If you haven’t watched the Netflix re-imagined Schoolhouse Rock, We the People, produced by the Obamas, check it out!

    • Snuffles says:

“Pearls are made by marine oysters and freshwater mussels as a natural defence against an irritant such as a parasite entering their shell or damage to their fragile body. The oyster or mussel slowly secretes layers of aragonite and conchiolin, materials that also make up its shell.”

      Lots of potential symbolism there!

    • Harper says:

The Fail already has its derogatory angle on this announcement pouncing on the fact that Meghan means Pearl in some cultures. According to The Fail, ME-ghan is going to make the series all about herself.

    • aftershocks says:

^^ Yes, I discovered that too about the derivation of Meghan’s name being traced to the diminutive for the Welsh, ‘Meg,’ which traces to ‘Margaret,’ which derives from ‘margaron,’ Hebrew for ‘pearl.’ Additional meanings for ‘Meghan/ Meagan,’ are ‘strong and capable.’

The name derivation tracing to ‘Pearl,’ reminds me how much Meghan is always very intentional in what she does, and how there’s usually a depth of meanings and motivations behind her choices. She’s so inspirational.

  22. KT says:

It’s been funny seeing the hater comments on this – there’s some really unhinged people out there! But until recently they were claiming that Elton and David obviously wanted nothing more to do with Meghan because they didn’t make a public statement when Lilly was born (why would they?!) and now they’ve all suddenly developed amnesia about that claim.

    • BabsORIG says:

This is OT, BUT, I recall how Harry and Meghan boarded EJ’s privet jet and went on vacation to one of this homes in France. This was at the height of the smear campaign and Meghan was probably still very suicidal. Then KP leaked the trip and they had someone take pics of the Sussexes boarding the private jet and the BM subsequently had a feast dragging the Sussexes over carbon foot print; it was so bad, so terribly horrible what the BRF and the BM were putting the Sussexes through, that EJ came out and defended the Sussexes. Then TOBB did his flyby stunt etc. Fast forward and now the duchess is partnering with DF on this project? I’m gonna say, I know whose corner Elton and David are firmly in and it’s not that of FFK and FFQC.😉😜😜

On a more positive note, I am so proud of my duchess 👏🏾👏🏾🙇🏾‍♂️🙇🏾‍♂️. From here forward, sky is the limit, God bless the Sussex family. Harry and Meghan are truly nice people.

      • Becks1 says:

Remember Elton John went on the record after that on his IG and asked people to blame him for the private jet, not Harry and Meghan. He has been on their side all along IMO.

      • BlueToile says:

Elton John seems to have really kept in touch with Diana’s boys since her death. It really appears that Harry is fairly close with him. I just got a little tear remembering him singing at Di’s funeral. I didn’t follow her very closely in her final few years, but one would have to be dead inside not to feel anything when EJ sung that day. Much respect to him doing what he could to look out for Harry.

      • jwoolman says:

I still can’t get past my original misinterpretation of the acronym FFK (I had assumed it meant f’ing future king….). 😇

      • Christine says:

BlueTolle, I STILL can’t watch Elton John’s performance at Diana’s funeral without crying. 25 years later, I really thought I would be able to watch it without dissolving, but no.

I love that he is still looking out for Diana’s sons.

  23. BnlurNforever says:

I am really looking forward to seeing this. I remember hearing that it was optioned by her, but wasn’t sure if it was a go or just rumor when it was discussed back when. I really do hope both this and Harry’s Invictus docu-series does well for netflix and cement their standing in this area. Keep winning, Harry and Meghan, you both deserve to after all you’ve been through.

    • Carmen-JamRock says:

So far all we know about are Archewell/H&M originals……not optioned projects.

  24. Bettyrose says:

Plus they’ve unintentionally written Season 7 of the Crown just by existing (you know Netflix has got to be considering it).

  25. Rai says:

Earlier this week, a royal expert provided their expert opinion that Netflix would drop the Sussexes for lack of content, not to mention incompetence because their patent wasn’t approved… it was all very expertly stated with expert insider expertise…

    • KT says:

Which should really stop everyone here assuming that ‘Royal Experts’ actually know anything. Some of those ‘Senior Palace sources’ are made up, not briefings, too.

It’s easy to assume that every story is part of a planned narrative; some of them really are just bullshit to fill space.

      • Nyro says:

No, it’s Harry and Meghan that they know nothing about. The rest of the royals? They know pretty much everything, as they all brief against each other and openly court the rota rats in order to keep their dirty little secrets under wraps.

      • KT says:

Nah. Some of them do, sometime, sure. But not all. That’s why the ‘narratives’ get so messy and confusing – the tabloids are pitching in with their own fanfiction when they run out of material, safe in the knowledge that Royals very rarely take them to court and it’ll be impossible to prove.

Rule of thumb: assume the British tabloids are acting in their own interests with little regard for anyone else’s. If they can get away with hacking phones they will, if they can get away with blagging personal data they will, if they can get away with blatant libel they will, if they can get away with publishing deeply private corresponded they will, if they can get away with making stuff up they will.

    • Lizzie says:

I can only guess that the qualification to be a royal expert is to be able to type ‘I am a royal expert’.

  26. Carmen-JamRock says:

I wonder if ‘Pearl’ will focus only on American women in history (both the known and not-so-known ones) or will it focus on women globally? And if the latter, I wonder which women in British history will get the spotlight?

I know I cant wait to see and hear the weeping, wailing, moaning and gnashing of royal and royal-sycophants’ teeth!!! LMAO

On a serious note, tho: this series could have several seasons with many episodes each, if, as I believe it will, ‘Pearl’ takes a global approach to the women who will be highlighted. Oooooooh i can just imagine the slate of consultant historians.

Its not only kids who are in for some spectacular history lessons with ‘Pearl.’

    BTW: Meghan means Pearl.
“Meghan is a girl’s name meaning “pearl” that is related to the Greek name Margaret and the Welsh name Megan.”
    thebumpDOTcom

    • BnlurNforever says:

I bet it will be global since they tend to be interested in their work being global and netflix is global so…

    • Naya says:

Margaret in Greek is Margarita and means daisy

      • Carmen-JamRock says:

Margarites is greek and means pearl.

      • Eurydice says:

@Carmen-JamRock – “Margarites” is pearl in Ancient Greek. In Modern Greek, “margaritari” is pearl and “margarita” is daisy.

      • Tinydancer says:

Margaret in French is Marguerite and it means daisy. In short we say Maguy. It is likely from the French as the French royalty from britany took over England.
For meghan, I have no idea what it means.

  27. My3cents says:

Countdown until we hear about the Keens sorry ass YouTube channel…

  28. Likeyoucare says:

This has nothing to do with the story.
But the 1st picture on top,
Meghan is side eyeing the cute girl girl because she is so cute or
Meghan looks like she want to eat the girl in one sitting🤣.

  29. Steph says:

Another project of substance for kids. Kate must be so jealous.

    • Lizzie says:

I didn’t realize! Look who is leading in early years. ahahaha. Perhaps she could create something to help Keen, oh I don’t know, maybe a chart.

  30. NiqGee says:

Someone needs to do a Welfare check on Willnot, Kannot and the rest of the Magnificent 7. Between this announcement and the Emmy nom, I don’t think he’s doing okay today.

    • MsIam says:

I hope in this series there is a bully named Keena and she has a pet donkey named Wilburt.

      • Liz version 700 says:

Oh I love this. Keena and Wilber try to steal homework answers and candy from Pearl and she defeats them without breaking a sweat and then figures in history give her ideas about how to exile Wilber to the barn.

      • Layla says:

        Comment of the day 😂😂
Henceforth I’m referring to them as Keena and Wilbur the donkey

  31. jazzbaby1 says:

I saw a Tweet this morning about how she’s plagiarizing “again” because a character in STEVEN UNIVERSE is named Pearl. Come the hell on.

  32. Julia K says:

Every single comment on the DM is hateful and rude. Comments have been moderated so who knows if anyone was supportive. What is wrong with these people? They are still griping about her living off the taxpayer money. Does no one realize they are self supporting? They want her gone. Hello! She IS gone and has been for a while. Will they never stop with the hate? Sickens me that a country can choose to destroy a woman who had done absolutely nothing to cause this toxic meanness.

    • MsIam says:

Those are just bots. Or paid trolls. No normal thinking person has time to post that drivel.

      • BlueToile says:

I am going to disagree. Yes, some may be bots, but there are plenty of actual people posting their hate. The hate they spew escapes you and me, but it is real. Look sometime at a random article on YouTube that peripherally discusses H&M. It is eye opening.

      • notasugarhere says:

It has been proven that 80 percent of the hate against Meghan on sites like that come from 20 women talking to themselves under different names.

    • Sondra Jackson says:

@JuliaK I stopped reading the DM, it’s like White Supremacist, Nazi, KKK level ignorance and hate on any comment site that is about Meghan. For some reason people such as those have convinced themselves that Harry is being brainwashed and controlled by Meghan. Therefore she is the only one who is being attacked. Harry is right there next to her co-signing everything that she says but everything that they don’t like or approve us is always and only Meghan’s fault.

  33. Linda says:

Meghan has beautiful hands. For some reason I find them fascinating.

  34. Lizzie says:

Remember all of the rude comments when Harry and Meghan announced they would take maternity /paternity leave after the baby was born. ‘they don’t work anyway’. Wawawa.
I have to say I’m not a fan of Cain and Unable but I am very glad to say I don’t spend my life filled with hatred of them. Those online haters have to be the most toxic people ever.

  35. Sondra Jackson says:

Just look at H&M, out there living and loving their lives, making boatloads of money on their own without the assistance or permission of the RF. They are obviously doing all of this to make the RF look bad. Shame on them!!!

    #Sarcasm LOL!

  36. Passerby says:

“God knows how Meghan pitched it”? I don’t get this comment. Sounds a bit anti.
